Morphing is a word I use it to describe how chords move subtly from one to another. At least one note has to move a half tone. No note can move more than a half tone. If all the notes don't move, then at least one note has to stay in the same place. When a note does not move, we call it a common tone.

Your concept of morphing seems very similar to neo-Riemannian transformations.

I think you are right, but my ideas are more straightforward and don't get hung up on vocabulary. I can teach them to an 8 year old.
