This is the official trailer for our upcoming documentary film about The Residents. Find out more at www.residentsmovie.com Facebook: ResidentsMovie Twitter: @ResidentsMovie
The Residents are the reason I love music, they made me a music lover. They also made me appreciate art. I really owe these guys so much. True artistic geniuses.
I'm seeing this tonight! Very Psyched! Last time I saw them (I Know this is a movie, not actually them) was at the Beacon Theater during the Cube E/King And Eye tour. Front row center shrooming our faces off! Was amazing!
very cool vid, man. My introduction was Uncle Willies Highly Opinionated Guide to The Residents in 1995 & from that my music world was slightly altered. I saw Wormwood & their ( if memory serves me ) 30 year anniversary show both in Portland Oregon.
I love the residents but i wish we could stop the whole "No one knows who they are so they could be any famous person" That was a great part of their history but its been meaningless ever since Homer Flynn decided not wear the eyeball or the skull on stage.
I was a bit disappointed with this film. It just seemed like the 'standard' approach of many music documentaries these days (no narration - just chopped together some bits of interviews with people, archive footage etc). It didn't have a particular 'angle' or unique 'style'. The camerawork was very bland. As a Residents fan, of course it's great to have a Residents documentary, but I think a band as unique as The Residents deserved something a lot better & ore original. I do recommend the dvd though, because the bonus features (lots of amazing archive videos) are fantastic.
Maybe something like The Eyes Scream? I agree with you on everything tbh. I didn't feel like saying anything about it because I donated $150 to it, but I do feel like it was disappointing for a Residents doc. I don't feel my money was wasted, but I do feel the movie could've had a much more... consistent approach.
Shadowplay Adonis Question: do they have the amazing quality videos of the WoW on the DVD? I'm considering buying it and I'm wondering what to expect as bonuses.
Toby Derrikson - I think you should check official sources for that info. Amazon, etc. I'm pretty sure there's some extra interviews and WoW performances but I could be remembering it wrong
I have just bought this from Vimeo. I haven't felt like this since I first heard The Residents. Fantastic to hear from Jay Clem, John Kennedy, Polly Harvey and Laurie Amat. I also heard that there is quite a few extras on the DVD, or maybe blue ray. Can't remember. I will have to try and track that down from somewhere if it exists.
I cant wait too. For music fans, this is a mystery that we all have been at least wanting a peek behind the curtain of for going on 40 years. If it is not a joke, or misdirection, documentary, which is not past The Residents, this is going to be so satisfying. I cant wait.
Going to see soon in Pittsburgh, sux that the pope of all jagoffs Penn Jillette is in it; his snarky "Oh I'm an enlightened intelligent scholar so much brighter than those that are not strict 19th century materialists" makes me ill. But I like the Residents.
The other day, Bob (lead guitar player of The Residents) liked something i posted on Facebook (i shared a picture of Joe Strummer from The Clash playing Paul's Simonon iconic white P-Bass) How do i know? I entered to his profile and saw various pictures of him playing, and his equipment.
Hello Don Hardy ! Very good movie on this mythical group but Snakefinger is not mentioned at any time, who was nevertheless an important member in their discography. Strange...Why?
Howdy. Glad you liked the film. We touched on Snakefinger in Theory, but he was only one of many collaborators with The Residents so we didn't go deeper with him. With 40 years of history to cover, some tough choices had to be made. Perhaps they'll be a Snakefinger documentary sometime soon?
