thanks for the reaction 💗 i think it's also a song for haters, during the quarantine she was getting a lot of hate because of an ig post plus of her weight gain, i remember she did a live with a fan and they were both talking about why she was so controversial and she out of nowhere said that because of her face, i mean because of how she looked, that made me feel so sad 😔

Random fact which may allude to the song: When Lana was at a beach in Rio De Janeiro she intended to remove her shirt (with the black bathing suit under it) but when she saw a papparazzi tooking photos of her she put the shirt again because she got uncomfortable. In the pandemic Lana has gained weight and been very shamed online for it but she didnt really care because her body is a "temple" and should be treated as such. I think in the pandemic times when her public image was very tarnished after posting "question for the culture", fake racism allegations and weight gain, Lana was very angry at the public who put a "bad" tag on her ("let me show you how bad girls do") so she points out that "the only thing that still fits me is this black bathing suit" which symbolizes her dark side the haters only want to aknowledge (in "Hope is a dangerous thing...' she sings about shaking the black narcissist off her back which symbolizes a dark side of her). She knows that's how the haters want to view her so she tells them "you don't know me any better that they do" Lana was misunderstood her whole carrier that's why she sings "I wish you could see to my soul through this black bathing suit" to see her real intentions and "angel heart" without the "bad" person filter of media put on her (I'm sorry for the long comment and if it's very messy, english is not my first language) and I'm grateful for your amazing videos I'm looking forward!

i love love love LOVE this album and in particular this song, in my view she's not singing to or about a man, but at her haters, telling that they would be different if they saw her soul through her body and not just that superficial way. The way shes laughing at ppl that made fun of her weight gain during quarantine and the way that their hate "made stacks" for her is *chef kiss*. i love this i love seeing her 100% sure of her and her body, seeing it not as simply pretty flesh but like a force, energy, a temple. (btw 80% of the hates about her image and body comes from her own "fans", mostly weirdos that took the album BTD literally and as an aesthetic, and not like a mockery and exposition of the way she viewed the way she was living)

i think the “odd” pronunciation and singing on “mail me when you get the blues” is a reference to her snl performance years ago. during that performance she was doing a lot of different things vocally and people ripped her apart for it especially the critics. i think it goes along with the “your interest really made stacks out of it for me” because even the negative press brought her attention and garnered her more money.

This song is from blue banisters and, let me tell you, it is one of her best album imo. A work of art

7:20 thru 7:30 could also kind of like be a response to her haters because, during this time she was getting a lot of hate cause of her weight gain, and those lines in the songs just show Lana’s response to how people have nothing better to do then to hate on others so they really are just losers, and Lana doesn’t let their hate get to her and calls her body a temple. Also her saying she’s still making stacks is like saying how people hating on her STILL makes her money.

I’ve been loving this deep dive into Lana’s work. I’d recommend you listen to Kesha’s later albums. There’s A LOT of really great content there to analyze from a psychological perspective. If I were to suggest specific songs, I’d say “Praying,” “Learn to Let Go,” and “Rainbow” from the Rainbow album and “Living in My Head,” “The Drama,” “Peace & Quiet,” “Hate Me Harder” from her album Gag Order that just came out.
