Tupac bared his emotions in his music as much as anybody ever. Trying to reconcile the thoughtful, caring side of him, with his volatile, reckless side, makes you realize how troubled he probably was from a mental health standpoint.

Yes that is his real Mom Afeni Shakur in the video!! Tupac is NOT in the video. He was in prison then. You see clips of him in other videos he has done but he is physically not in the video. At the time he wrote this, he thought his Dad was dead. After he had been shot at Quad City Studios 5 times, he ended up in the hospital. His real Dad came to visit him and that first time he had seen him since he was really little. His Dad is Billy Garland. I love this song....he acknowledges his Mom's faults and flaws but still gives her such reverence and appreciation❤ You have got to do "Keep Ya Head Up" about respect for single Moms and women. Another one of my faves. You definitely need to get to know Tupac even more deeply than you already have....he was such and intelligent, compassionate, unique soul and lyricist!

Good catch on the name. I knew it was something very simple but for some reason Lawrence popped in my head. Ive been a Pac fan since I was 10yrs old. Going on 30yrs now! Wow I'm old, lol. It's amazing that most ppl don't know a whole lot about Tupac. I seem to learn something new about him all the time.

Yes that was his Mom. She was a Black panther and married to the Panthers leader. Interesting fact, Shakur is the last name of his stepdad who was the leader of the Panthers. His real father's name is Lawrence, i think. Pac didn't know his real father and his Stepdad and Mom really created Tupac's path in life. Pacs tattoo thug life was supposed to be a movement to bring gangs together and get back to the Panthers real cause.

I was a very troubled teen and i put my mom through hell and not one day goes by that i dont regret it and beat myself up. My mon tells me that she loves me and forgives me so im not sure why i cant forgive myself. My mom is a great mom and even being very poor we always had food housing and clothing. I love my mom
