They were either used for milk bottles or oil bottles. Depends on the business name.

Awesome load of stuff Poly and the Thomas The Tank unit is worth good money. The steel crates look like old school milk crates, if they are they are good vintage items. Keep up the good work mate.

@@PolyProphet yes. I cut lots of them off here. Though some are aluminum. After a while the bucket fills up and they end up with dirty brass fittings, etc
