Agreed. I hate these youtubers with their "SECRET SAUCES" and fake product reviews, while having their videos sponsored by the same company/product they're "reviewing"
Hello, thanks for this video! Everything is very well explained. I wanted to ask you something that interests me a lot when I watch the video. What is the program you use to make the postproduction of these videos? Thank you
I am using less EQ as of late as making sure the sounds are selected to complement each other tonally with less masking using just levels and panning. Maybe a low and hi cut if and when needed. Its OK to have some masking I have realized so not to overly obsess in my humble opinion.
Yeah a little bit of masking good so you basically don't have any frequency holes in your mix :) also why sometimes mid side equing is better in certain cases than regular eq. You would at certain cases be cutting way more than necessary.
I need to take this approach to mixing now too. Less really can be more. Some of my mixes that have barely any EQ sound warmer and fuller and less digital.
This is an exceptionally underrated video. I have made actual notes based on this video and it has helped me a ton. thank you so much Sage Audio, you are GOAT.
That’s a really excellent video! I will adjust my methodology to follow this more closely. I do too much eq solo checks. Also doing before after eq checks with volume adjusted, listening to entire mix, my guess is I can do less eq. Thanks! Probably the most useful video of the 1000s I’ve watched! I definitely want to use u guys for mastering.
Nice video. I think it’s important to simplify the process instead of confusing people by showing a bunch of techniques with no overarching method or context. This was very clear and concise, and gives a good foundation on which more more advanced ideas can be built without confusion. 👍
I have a much smaller channel but I've talked about this as well. There is no such thing as a magic pill. Love the video! I think an issue is certain titles get more views, so they just go with those. I try to strike the balance between a catchy title but not a title that says something like "5 easy steps to the PERFECT MIX".
I think it’s perfectly paced. To me these are bullet points less than class time. Each one of these points could be a video onto itself. Which… is information readily available.
I disagree. I think that over the years, many professional mixers have come up with unique techniques that they haven't shared with anyone because they want to keep it for their clients. Phil Spector (May he freeze in hell) is an example of this also George Martin. Imagine other producers back in the day hearing The Beatles and wondering how Martin achieved their sound. Martin didn't go on the lecture tour explaining how it he did it, we found out decades later. I think similar things are true to this day, producers like Jason Joshua for example using Ozone 4! One secret from a few years ago now was clipping through specific A/D converters to increase loudness. Lots of people used limiters instead, because their converters would distort if clipped. But the Dangerous Bax converter has a feature that many didn't know about, this stopped distortion but allowed for the audio to be really pushed, increasing the loudness of their mixes. Same thing now with the Apogee Symphony Special Edition. People just run the music through that unit without even clipping, just to get the sound. Sorry for the long post, just offering a counter argument.
Serban Ghenea is another more recent example. That guy does all the mixes for the big pop stars. He doesn't share all his secrets. Especially his biggest secret of all which is how he gets all those big gigs.
@@RealHomeRecordingso you all agree that there are no secrets. If the shit can be found out by just listening. How is it a secret? Maybe to those with uneducated ears would think that but not professionals. Unless they just can’t figure it out.
You go WAY TOO FAST in all your videos, including your member videos, and just my observation and opinion. Plus out of the scheduled 10:15 min listed, only 6:50 min are actual "class time" as the before and after time is an AD, for which at the moment, am already a monthly member.
Going fast forces you to rewatch parts of the video, this increasing the video watch time which benefits Sage Audio. There is a slow playback option. Funny enough people say I speak to slow and joke that they put the playback rate on 1.5x
I don't think Sage Audio focuses on electronic music so his tips are focused on universal mixing tips. There are people who have covered that video in detail though. One of the big takeaways is how to effectively bus or group your layers and process those said groups. And the processing on groups are meant to prepare it before it hits the master(specifically the limiter(s) ).
yeah i know but i dont understand how he mix into a limiter and still get -3 lufs still he cranks the ott+limiter to almsot +35db or something and it dosent distort and still gets a clean low end and high frequency shame i watched alot of people and no one covers it in the right way tbh :/ @@rebirth4119
