@@azsazazsa They allow castling through check because sometimes checks can be a bluff as the attacking piece may not actually be able to finish the capture. But if you aren't allowed to en passant the king, then there's no reason to castle early; you would simply keep both castling options available until your king is threatened, which is super boring.

@@person8064 I worded poorly, what I mean is why do they allow it if you can en passant anyway. There’d be no benefit to doing it out of check, and I think that’s a really cool thing to be able to do. I wouldn’t call it boring at all.

@@trivium6720 That doesn't account for duck chess though. If it did it would be rarer. But not accounting for duck chess a "checkmate by only one pawn" would probably be much rarer

I don't know much about chess or the chess world, but I do love me a good en passant

I mean, if the squares are sufficiently big, you can say there's room for knights to just slide between the other pieces. Same goes for all the pieces with some form of diagonal movement-the king, queen, bishop, and pawn. But if you assume that each piece actually takes up the space of an entire square, then yeah, I guess they'd get stuck pretty easily. Also, I can't say that there's a good excuse for the existence of castling.

I was just asking you why you hate it. By the way, if it's just because you don't understand it, I will give you a visual for it. Imagine that an enemy soldier tries to run past you. While they're running by, you jump out and tackle them, intercepting them in passing. Well, that's basically what the move is.

​@@Shadow-hm3uqI actually wondered about this myself, and apparently the rule was created by FIDE (the International Chess Foundation). The reason it's not allowed is because castling is not allowed "if the king would ever stand on an attacked square". So if your opponent is attacking a square between the king and rook, or the king himself, you can't castle (in ordinary, "legal" chess). Don't know why they chose that, but that's what they chose. Vive le France.

He is blocking the enemy pawn from easily stopping the check

He is forcing the opponent to constantly place the duck on f7 which turns the game into normal chess for the opponent but duck chess for simp. If they make even one slip up, the queen ends the game instantly.

Because the enemy has to move the duck too, so they can only put it on one square to keep blocking the check since in duck chess, you win by capturing the king. If the opponent puts the duck anywhere else (and doesnt save the king otherwise), they lose
