But part of why we like metal is that it helps us feel things cathartically, it lets us excise our anger and our issues in some way that isn't toxic to ourselves and those around us. As a result we tend to be more understanding and calm cause we've usually been able to work our frustrations out a little bit and all our metal friends got weird shit going on. I know one metalhead who listened to metal cause he was schizophrenic and it helped drown out the auditory hallucinations.

Religious people are in essence spiritualists. They believe that basis of reality is spirit and from it emerges reality. Most of religious people, pagans or new age spiritualists are all “spiritualists” in that way. While on the other hand there are materialists(atheists, satanists,etc) who believe that reality emerges from laws of nature, matter and enegry, and by the definition those people are “materialists”. His claims are also incorrect. There are many archaeological findings that contradict the Bible. Off the top of my head are that we know there was never a global flood because of geological evidence and archaeologically we know Mesopotamians were too busy brewing beer and recording transactions in cuneiform ledgers to notice that there was supposed to be a world destroying flood. The Bible also has no contemporary evidence. All of it is either anonymous or written 60 years after Jesus' death and resurrection.

It's not a dumb question. You can believe in the core values that the Bible preaches, and even many of the stories if they're rooted in metaphor. But there are many.. many.. who believe that the Bible is word for word factual events. Obviously a burning bush never spoke. Obviously Jesus more than likely did not actually spirit his way out of cave. That doesn't invalidate the Bible in any way, but gives two avenues for the understanding of the Bible: literal, and philosophical/allegorical. both of which can be perceived as the word of god.

There is a difference in dying for something you believe is true vs. dying for something you absolutely know to be true. The disciples were eyewitness to the account of the resurrected Jesus and we're willing to die based on that evidence. Now if they did not experience the risen Jesus and they lied about his resurrection then why would they die for something they know not to be true? All their enemies wanted for them to do is stop spreading the message of Christ and His resurrection and they would have never been executed. No one gives their life to execution for something they know to be untrue.

Now I’m not saying it’s impossible but we are yet to see much more than concept art to suggest what animals used to look like based on evolution. Also even if we do confirm it doesn’t necessarily mean that it contradicts the Bible. The Old Testament was not intended to be taken literally 100% if the time. There is the possibility that there are some things that the humans at that time would have no way to understand so God or whoever explained the creation of the world might’ve just been doing the best they could.

The Apostles were martyred because they claimed to personally see JESUS Christ resurrected and they would not recant that belief. Many people die for a lie that they may mistakenly believe to be the truth, but NO ONE dies for what they KNOW is a lie. The Apostles Knew JESUS being resurrected was the Truth because they were eye witnesses and they were martyred for that Truth.

At least this version of humanity. We don't know if other types of people lived before this current batch because the Bible doesn't tell us. So, no, the Bible does not say the earth was created 6,000 years ago.

Then there were 2-3 million years of different types of humans before that. Archaeology is the study of human artifacts and remains so there is no reason it would prove or disprove the bible's reliability of the supernatural claims. Archaeology hasn't disproven the bible for the same reason evolution hasn't, because people just move the goal post to include said fact.

The things those witnesses describe in the Bible can be backed up by outside historical evidence. (For the most part) Yes we do believe it was written with the help of the Holy Spirit, however the Bible was not written by the Holy Spirit, it wasn’t telling the writer exactly what to write.

Because truth matters. Some people dont like the truth, and although much wisdom can be take from falsehoods it does not make it reality, and promoting a pattern of accepting falsehoods because they are comfortable is not something that improves society over time. That is why societally it is important to question faith, although personally I don't try to convince people who do not want to be convinced. The western world is moving towards a secular society that derives its values from humanity rather than divinity so I don't see the need to personally intervine.

The Bible doesn’t even record all of Jesus’ miracles, and it makes that clear. The miracles not mentioned were saw by the disciples, but since so many were already listed, there was no need to add every single miracle, especially since the Bible contains the most important miracles performed by Christ, including raising Himself from the dead.

They did not die for a lie, they died for something they saw firsthand. No one dies for something when they know it's not true. Jamestown folks died believing a lie they were told, not something they witnessed firsthand like the disciples seeing the risen Jesus firsthand.

Believing that a lie is true and knowing without a doubt that what you claim to believe is a lie are two completely different things. If the resurrection account was false the apostles would’ve known for certain that it was a lie. But were willing to die some of the most gruesome deaths imaginable simply for claiming that Jesus rose from the dead and all they had to do to end the suffering was to just claim that it wasn’t true.

I'm a christian and I can say a lot of the things in the bible would improve your life. Now proof that god is real, there is no proof either way. Faith is believing in something that you have no proof of. There are a lot of people that believe in other gods, so if number of followers is the proof, there are several one true gods out there. The key, my perspective, is to not take it literally and to filter. Ex: I believe God exists, I don't believe god is male, He's beyond the concept of gender, I imagine him more like an energy than a humanoid shape. Did He take a male shape when He showed himself, probably, but He's not male.

I do all the time. I was raised Catholic, but question theology on the three major monotheistic religions all the time. I’m glad that god works for a lot of people, but it doesn’t make someone more right than another for having a different belief.
