One of the best classes I ever took for self-improvement was public speaking. While it can be difficult to hear negative feedback about yourself, it's also an opportunity to learn from others their perceptions of you and what it is you can work on to make improvements. Ends up the things you work on give others a better perspective of you as you make those incremental improvements which opens up all sorts of doors.

Caution: literacy levels are also likely to estrange you from others… The most advanced communications require, on most occasions to tactfully dumb it down
@xkben90

True but I think that’s where wisdom comes in: you learn to read the room. You’re not going to talk about your 3 month coding project in detail at a senior citizen center just as you aren’t going to speak to an organic chemistry professor about ethers using phrases like “those little ball things right there.” Time and place for everything.

@youtubelearning2990

Very true. Growing up I didn't learn to read till late. When I did I turned into a bookworm. I learned how to use words by reading how they were used in books. Not even necessarily the defintion but the usage. Well, because it was in my mind, my capacity of words grew larger. Talking to my friends they would make me feel bad about it. So, I had to dumb it down. We were kids and so looking back that's just how kids act. When I got older and moved to an academic area I thrived! Now, I can be where we wrench away at cars and then somewhere else where we talk about ontological truth's.

My classmates would like to know how am I doing that in front of big personality in our school, those who have PhDs and Degrees in many fields. I can deliver my own thoughts simply because I love reading. Every time I read books, there is always an interesting question that would come out possessing an important potential for starting a conversation which is truly great in every perspective.

we become even greater communicators specifically by learning the etymology of our words in our languages whatever they may be ,it gives a whole nother story ,that most times is closer to the truth,than the present definition,discovering the universal pattern of commonality each language has unlocks the gateway to a much broader reality,it also helps to have a deep understanding of music and sound,for this is tha basis of our words wherever they came from

Two of the most important things you can teach a human is a special skill (training, mentoring, etc), and how to read and write, even on a fundamental basic level. If a person can do that (and WANT to), then they have the tools to, over time, drastically improve whatever situation they're in. I tutor math, but find myself helping kids with English. It's freaking hard, but when you're able to get on their level and get the point home, then it's worth all the struggle.

I talk to myself when nobody’s around so I can hear what I think but what I think is usually how I feel about things and I’m very specific about how I feel about things. By doing this I realised a lot of what I feel towards life is the overbearing expectations placed on people; how humans treat themselves/others. I realised the first thing I notice about someone or that anyone notices about anyone else really is how they were treated. It’s almost as if how you treat human beings matters but it’s hard to be treated like one if you fail to communicate that you have emotions and that they matter. I’m a 22yo guy and all I’m trying to do is live my life the way I want to. Because if I can’t then fuck you haha. But for real tho I’m trying to treat humans like their underlying emotions matter, like how you treat them matters. We need to move to survive, live and thrive I get that. We need to trust human beings to be human beings, I get that too. But movement/trusting people does not equal working like a slave to meet the expectations of an unseen higher authority. I live in Australia and shit wasn’t like that here over 300 years ago. I guess what I’m trying to say is I want the best of both worlds, I want a more grounded life with a tribe who engages with and is custodian of the land but also who can use industry to develop a system to be able to defend from potential cataclysmic events like meteor impacts. I want to live for the moment and work towards a future where childcare and investing in culture and the future are primary goals and not more of an afterthought. I wanna have my cake and eat it too, I’m greedy like that but I would argue that it’s worth doing.

professor Peterson, I've red more than few books in my life, few of them have perhaps shaped, or more likely directed my attitude towards confrontations. I live by: " I won't step off my path to look for the Devils, but certainly won't let any to pass me by" principle. That won't change. I would like to however, find some literature, which could at least polish the sharp edges. Something of less confrontational, less crude way, of having things done in my way. Any books recommendations? Would be very appreciated in case if my handle here, from being a dark humor was going to be upgraded to grim reality. Thenk you in advance.

so you mean like knowing difficult words/theories/authors so that you can cloud your position and ornament your rethoric to attract attention and just push a message in favor of one-sided political interests? yeah that helps only if you devote to a fix political position sacrificing your critical mind and if your field is highly abstract and qualitative like psychology or law... words are the weapons of politicians, specially right wingers... lets hope a part of science can remain unpoliticized... numbers are less popular than words and the truth is often neutral.
