I play a Magic: the Gathering Online Legacy League with an Esper control deck. Pest Control is the missing piece this deck needed to really pop off, so let's see how good it really is.

Heyyo! I'm Hammafist, glad the deck served you well. I'm currently 26-5 with the deck even with a few punts 😅. The secret mode on Pest Control is cycling into Kathy during opponents attack step, I've done that twice and both times I immediately won the game.

It is indeed.. I'm currently trying Thoughtseize over Pierce and a few tweaks in the sb. That original 75 was just a first draft that turned out stronk

Ou have any sideboard guide you follow? Do you think that having 2 surveil lands instead of 1 + sanctuary can be good? I am thinking putting 1 more land to play scrubland also. So playing with 20 lands

@@BMBAnauta I don't have any guides unfortunately. I've tested this exact change before but Sanctuary is better imo. Putting the best card on top is much more powerful than surveil 1, just a little harder to set up. In the same vein, I wouldn't play a Scrubland in a Daze, Murktide, Sanctuary deck. A friend of mine played 1 for a few matches and it wasn't great

I am planning to add 1 more land and play scrubland. It should be fine I think... Will just test after 2 weeks to see.

People complained that triumph of st catherine was just a worst murktide…..guess that doesn’t matter when you have a full sweep of them anyways.

Triumph is definitely worse than Murktide, but some decks (like this one) can benefit from running them as an additional threat. I don't think the card is too powerful either, so it's a nice design in the end.

What are your thoughts of this with no "Up The Beanstalk" since this is pretty much a bean-less version of beans? Does it make it any less competitive with lesser card advantage? Awesome deck it seems!

Well I won the 50 players Challenge with it last Wednesday so I'd say it's more than competitive.

@@rrogers2187 That's awesome, congratulations! I guess my original question is more along the lines of, does this deck, as-is, justify not running beans? What are your thoughts after running it and winning with it?

True control decks like Beans and Jeskai really struggle against Bowmasters and this deck doesn't. Instead of card advantage we just leverage our insane card quality and low curve

@@romansky1720I've only played 4 matches since then so no. With Sticker Goblin getting banned today the 2nd Hydroblast can probably be something else but I'm not sure what tbh.

I will try this deck with 20 lands instead of 19...so I will put 1 scrubland. I wonder if 2 surveil lands could do the job also instead of 1 surveil + sanctuary.

Round 2 Depths player made some serious mistakes. I don't believe you win either game 2, and most certainly not game 3, if they were a better pilot.

If pained me to see a Depths player making some errors, but at least I got to benefit from it. I think I highlighted some of those errors as we went along too

I am not a huge fan of Triumph's price tag but I am really interested in this deck. Do you think True-Name Nemesis would be an applicable replacement?

Not really, Monastery Mentor might be a better shout, but the package of lifegain and recursive threat is hard to replicate.

Triumph is just VERY strong in the meta atm. It is a huge problem for Scam, Delver, Gobs, Moon Stompy, and a few others.

Getting a pseudo Batterskull with a discounted price tag is really useful for a slow deck that otherwise has no way to regain life.

@@JohnFromAccountingtrue but one thing I've learned is that being able to have a faster clock is nothing to underestimate since 3 damage per turn in a removal heavy meta means that 3 extra will inevitably kill the opponent
