Joe Higgs is your dad? Legendary. May he rest in peace. I saw him play at the Arcata community center in something like 1996 or 1997. I had no idea what I had witnessed and today I feel so blessed to have been there. But today when I listen to Life of Contradiction alone I'm blown away by the obvious and profound influence he had on the creation of reggae music. That's pretty awesome if you ask me. It's hard to be more legendary than that. Cheers

@@MarciaHiggs Wow. I've been thinking about what to say to you. I want to say that I feel very blessed to have sent and received a message to and from you. I remember at the Arcata show, since the stage was so low, and I'm so tall, I was basically eye-level with your father the whole show. I was also awkward and alone in a crowded room, as it were, even though I was there with my closest friends. So a very tall, skinny, white dreadlocked kid standing in the center of the room would have been hard for your father to have missed. And at one point I remember he made eye contact with me, and I don't want to say it was nothing to me while I don't want to make a big deal out of it. I didn't think about it that much. Again, I didn't know where I was, or what I was seeing. So, now that I think about that today, after finally having become acquainted with songs like Let Us Do Something and the Life of Contradiction album, and having learned some of the history, now I have to wonder: What, if anything, might Mr. Higgs have thought about me? I'm certain he was not impressed. That's okay with me. Much love, and I'm glad to have made your acquaintance.
