In the Japanese version, where Zack sees Cloud frozen still, he actually says "i kinda hate you a little bit" instead of "nice to see you again/you've been prett busy" in english, after knowing that Aerith began to love Cloud
They can both be petty in flaunting their highlighted moments alone with Cloud, but it is never truly mean-spirited and more there to equally show fan service for whichever relationship you think is best for Cloud. These characters build one of the most iconic friendships of my lifetime.

I was so on the fence about including that scene or not. It seemed a little ambiguous to me but I wasn't aware that the Japanese dialogue made it more clear.

I really don't like this love triangle things putting us in a confusion state. But for what I see, Zack's loyalty for Aerith after not seeing for years is truly unwavering. This guy is rare and he deserves more.
Exactly. It also contrasts badly with Crisis Core, because Aerith wrote to Zack for five years. She barely even mentions Zack in this game. She literally just gave up on him completely
@@sakonan4883 Aerith gave up on Zack already in Crisis Core she said final and quit writing him while he was still alive. So it's no surprise she wouldn't speak to him in Rebirth then made up lies about him being with other women to his parents of all people. Aerith blamed Zack for disappearing for those 4 years while Tifa has never once held the same issue against Cloud. Keep in mind Cloud was gone far longer from Tifa for 7 years, not 4 years which is when Aerith quit on Zack. Aerith easily dropped Zack and switched her affection to Cloud while if you look at Tifa she has only ever loved Cloud from day one and then Cissnei she still thinks about Zack and waits for him in Gongaga. So yeah I don't see Zerith ever coming back in part 3.

@@NemesisNero Yeah hahaha, though I think she still took it as a sign. Girls do that sort of thing. You give something to them randomly when they bring up what you have with you. And eons later you learn they kept that thing and attributed a huge meaning to it. What Cloud did there isn't even that uncommon. But yeah she was deflated for sure. Probably more at herself for not realizing it wasn't him to go out of his way to buy flowers.

There isn't mistranslation.. The English version intentionally took more liberties, and most of the time, the rewording conveys the same meaning. They did this instead to translate word for word. Unfortunately, some contexts are changed or lost. The best exemple is in the remake ending, the steel sky line but it is now fixed, and in other instances such as Cloud is not interested in dating Aerith in Costa del Sol in the localization meanwhile in the Japanese ver he simply states that he doesn't know how to date. However, for the most part, the English localization is correct or even improves upon some aspects. Aerith is portrayed as more sassy, Barret is even more lovable than he already is, there is swearing in the English dub (Swearing in japan is using baka ''stupid'' lol). However, I find Cloud swearing every five seconds a little cringe-worthy. I primarily played the French translation, which is more faithful to the Japanese. However the English dialogue feels more natural and less anime-like.
A lot of jealousy is sucked out of the finger here. The moment with Reno is the greatest example. Because in Japanese he doesn't even say the phrase "get a room", Cloud jumps on him, just because he is "evil" in the temple. So this moment is created by localization. There's also a moment about Zack with Aerith, more than jealousy, Cloud just wants the best for Aerith because the dude hasn't been around for 5 years. And most likely, her words also angered him a little, and he began to think that she wanted to be with him only because of Zack.
@@realestalex2728 Sometimes its true, but in rebirth localization is oftern just confuses and not convey , what scene intends.For example, the last date of Cloud and Aerith. When Cloud asks why they weren't photographed, the photographer says they don't look like they were on a date (although they posed beautifully) So stupid. In fact, he says in Japanese that Aerith looks like she's going to cry. And this is a direct hint that Aerith knows the future here, and that she just wants to spend her last moments with Cloud. And it is precisely because of the photographer's words that Cloud says that she is behaving strangely for the second time, and that something is wrong with her. The English localization does not convey this meaning at all. And there are a million such moments in the game, they add and create the emotions they want, and sometimes they don't convey what should be conveyed through the scenes.

Well, the thing that gets Aerith upset about the flower in my opinon is that he lied to her, twice. First in Remake, he says he doesn't remember who he gave it too (which by that point can be fair, he doesn't know her yet so has no interest in sharing private information) and then a second time in Rebirth, he yet again lies when she comments that she doubt _he_ put the flower in a vase with water. I'm sure she wouldn't have thrown a comment like that had he just admitted that he gave it to Tifa.
@@Mukation truth to be told he didnt gave it to tifa out of any emotion, he was just surprised she saw him with something soft, and he tried to defuse and keep his edge by giving it to her, its not like he ever intended on meeting aerith again. the fact he kept the flower for so long show he had more afinity to it. and he only lied to aerith, because he didnt want her to know he gave her flower to another girl cos he was INTO her (aerith), and the second time he was trying to save face because he likes her. those are white lies.

He didn't exactly have time to think about the flower on his chest, because he was being shot at and had to fight his way through the streets to get to the trainl. He litterally found her nothing but anoying during their first encounter and only during the roof top walk does he warm up to her a little and he still lied. He could have easily said his best friend runs a bar so he gave it to her for decoration there. But he isn't even capable of claiming that Tifa is just a friend when Aerith asks about her either. But he didn't. And she litterally saw the flower at the bar in Remake and smiled. She knows he gave it to Tifa. She was 100% upset that he _still_ lied to her in Kalm.
That's only if you deny the flower. But it was also a gift. A girlfriend would not want a re gifted flower. And Tifa is not even his girlfriend. But Tifa was also disappointed about it (if you get her scene.) Re gifting is not a good idea, for either party lol

He does the same if you get Aeriths date in ch. 8 and run into Tifa on the chocobo section. He's obviously feeling a bit awkward with Tifa seeing him with another woman. He doesn't do that if it's reversed. But then again, he knows Aerith is aware that he's known Tifa all his life so if you "ship" him and Aerith, he has zero reason to think Aerith would "get the wrong impression".
Hey guys I am planning buy the ff7 rebirth and remake but I want to be sure, is zack really alive? I only know orginal ff7 storyline should I get the games, I know I will enjoy the gameplay but I am not sure how to feel if they changed the storyline.

like @yakumojoly said. Zack asks Marlene if Aerith has feelings for Cloud and in Japanese Marlene replies "うん きっとね" which means "Yes, without a doubt." Then Zack says "それは ひゅーひゅー だな" then Marlene says "ひゅーひゅー!" not "Cause you weren't there". "ひゅーひゅー" is an onomatopoeia. Meaning like teasing a couple for being lovey dovey and/or congratulating them. Unfortunately both games have quite a few confusing translations like this.

*SPOILERS UNDERNEATH* He doesn’t fully remember Zack nor his sacrifice at this point in the story. His memory and identity is incredibly fractured. He just sees a guy who was dating Aerith, and ghosted her for years. Of course he’s going to react like that lol especially considering his friend seems hurt by it.
Personally with me, SE shouldn’t have made Aerith a love interest because I feel like she deserves more than that as the last Cetra. She’s too pure and sweet for any shipping wars nor to be just limited to a girl for ships. They should’ve made her a strong, independent mystical that needs the teams help and one that loves everyone so much. That’s given, but people are taking it out of context and limiting her to just a ship
I disagree, her having love interests doesn't limit her but enhances her. She is more than just a Cetra, she is a person and is as much a part of the human condition as anyone else and that includes falling in love. Her desires give her interests and conflicts and make her human and personable. Being just a strong independent mystical turns her into nothing more than a plot device. Having her be a romantic interest allows the audience to fall in love with her too. When she's gone we don't just lose a magical mcguffin, we lose a dear friend and a part of ourselves.
I think her and clouds story and chemistry made this game. No hate but I think the game would still be working well without Tifa. No hate. I think any ship is valid that was how the game was designed.
