There's something about Jimbo.... We have now seen him on Canada's Dragrace Season 1 as well as his return on UK vs The World. And since his latest appearance, he's been engrained into one of the most talked about queens to have appeared on the show. Thanks to memorable moments like his talent show performance. But Jimbo's performances & aesthetic also has some controversy. In this video I'm gonna be talking about Jimbo's Dragrace Journey.

As someone with large breasts, I don't have any problem with drag queens wearing large breast plates. But with Jimbo, her drag is portraying a clown. So what makes me uncomfortable is that part of her clown persona is having giant breasts, making it comical or absurd. Often queens wear breast plates in a way that is sexy or beautiful (or even slutty, which is still beautiful), and I feel as though Jimbo wears a breast plate in a way that is mocking people with large breasts. It's a staple for her Drag Clown persona, and I just don't feel that it's necessary. I love all forms of drag, but I don't love feeling as though my body is being mocked. I love a lot of Jimbo's drag, but the way she portrays large breasts makes me a bit uncomfortable.

As someone who’s pretty big in the chest area, I have no problem with Jimbo’s oversized breast plates. I do, however, have an issue with people ignoring the countless other examples of sexualised queens, yet only coming after Jimbo, in the name of feminism, as though you’re inherently more sexual and inappropriate if you’re a person with bigger breasts than someone than smaller breasts. How dramatic? I'm not saying anyone is innocent or not somehow "dramatic," but that word gets tossed around too easily. I speak from experience. I see, at least on TV, how Jimbo is seemingly quite mild mannered and sweet. I'm also not saying you DON'T have to watch the quiet ones sometimes! Sigh, but in this case... I've been there. Too nice, or too social, or too forgiving of rude ass people. They get too comfy with us just saying to ourselves, "water off a ducks back" when they're shady towards us - and then we get hurt or shaded yet again. So in recent years I've learned. It's not dramatic. Everyone else brought it up. Hall started it! Haha! So who's really the drama at the core of any given situation, ask yourself.. When people such as Jimbo (or myself!) get a clue - and alter how we stand up for ourselves - the world don't like it. They can't walk all over us anymore. So they say that's "dramatic", or call me a "princess" at work when I've literally done nothing but slay at my job for over ten years - but really they are mad because we don't WANT the drama. We won't cater to it and it shan't be entertained! Thus we end up coming across dramatic for even having to address it! But y'all brought it up! See; Double edged sword! We make a valid argument or statement, not necessarily in our defense even, and then people realize they CANNOT treat us as a doormat - the way they perhaps desired to or were accustomed to.

As a woman who has large breasts and many friends who also have large breasts I have no issue with drag queens using large or over exaggerated breast plates. I also don't mind the blonde bimbo stereotype that Jimbo's drag persona gives off, granted I have met girls who do have that personality but in a more lovable way, I get that it's a stereotype and not to be taken seriously. I use to love Victoria Scone but now I only like her, I know she is talking about her own point of view when it comes to the breast plates but to me she still talks in a general matter of fact way about it. Her issue with the breast plates reminds of those two bible thumping young girls who made a video of ridiculing drag queens for over sexualizing the female body and how it's not "gods plan or design" . I don't just see drag queens using the breast plates as means to their own drag persona but also as a love letter for all body types, because surprise surprise there are woman on this planet that look like that. I don't see how Victoria can overlook this nor recognize that *some* of what she was saying is what conservative parties are spewing to make a point to vilify the LGBTQ+ community. What she said also made *me* feel as a woman that my body type that is used in drag was part of the problem when it should *NEVER* be, especially within a community that praises inclusivity!

If that's the case I think GreenGay should correct this so there is no confusion. I get that Victoria didn't like Yara's talent number and saw it as a tastless joke, I get that she has every right to feel that way about it. But I can't stand behind her completely because I don't think Yara's number had ill intent behind it. Imo, that being a non-drag queen cis man, heavy natutals is camp and making fun of how women are seen, not as women are. Also, there are ”bimbos” and there’s nothing wrong with them! We should celebrate all types of women and not try to confine how we lift them up.

Jimbo's exaggerated look is clearly poking fun at these clichés and body modifications like plastic surgery...if he wants to have exaggerated features, then it's his choice. There are also tons of drag queens who don't pad or have a 'feminine' look at all, it's just a spectrum of different approaches to drag.

Speaking on the breast plate topic, it reminds me after the airing of the Dragula Titans episode where Koko Caine wore "Z size" breasts then decided to make a tweet to ask women how they feel towards their choice to wear such a breast plate, trying to learn and understand different takes on the matter, it was very interesting

Double commenting, but whatever: I love Victoria Scone but I feel she's very much in the wrong about Breast Plates. Just because something makes her personally uncomfortable as a woman, doesn't mean she's the authority on the issue, it just means that she has to tailor her own entertainment to match her comfort. On the flip side I often feel uncomfortable when drag kings wear overly exaggerated muscle body suits (like Victory has actually done on TV) that propagate an unhealthy image of what a male body should look like, but I don't feel it's my place to tell drag kings to be "smart" about their use and I'm fully aware the exaggeration is part of the appeal. Be as dumb as you want, kings, because I'm sure there's plenty of people out there enjoying what they do even if it's not for me.

I never understood how big breast plates were mocking women. Drag is art and art is subjective. But I have always seen drag artists as empowering women, not making fun of them. I mean, there will always be a blonde bimbo. It is a stereotype and some people fit it. Just like how being camp is stereotypically always being gay. It is conservative talk if someone slut shames because of big breasts and how its inherently sexual. It is just art, if it is not for you, then move on.

Victoria Scone tone policing again. Have a seat, sis. You are allowed to express drag as you wish. Let others do the same. This coming from the woman who on ‘The Snatch Game’ talked about dusting the other contestants’ dusty v’s. You can’t have it both ways, babes. Either these jokes are ‘offensive’ or they aren’t. I’m so over the gate keeping. If you don’t like how drag artists talk or express themselves, maybe this isn’t the career for you.

I was listening to and respecting her perspective on drag and drag culture untill her recent tweet. She tweeted something about her parents "finally calling her by her chosen and not bith name" for the first time. Making a big deal about it as if they were deadnaming her. Girl, you wanna be oppressed so much. You're not trans. There's no dysphoria connected to your birth name. Your chosen name is literally just a nickname. It pissed me off because people like her dillute and infantilize real issues some queer people have to go through.

Jimbo is the proof that a good portion of drag race fans and production are biased and/or racist including those review shows. Jimbo can be as disrespectful, unprofessional, rude, confrontational, aggressive, and angry as he wants and no one calls him out for it. He can say some wild stuff and everyone is like “ThATs JuST JImBo”. Mean while all a queen of color needs to do is give some side eye and the production focuses in on it and the fans are up in arms about how they feel the queen is being unnecessarily “aggressive”. They say “he’s just really competitive”, and gloss or over. UK vs the world highlights it amazingly. When Mo criticized janeys look everyone was attacking her. They said it was “uncalled” for and the review shows host were clutching their pearls. Meanwhile jimbo threw a whole tantrum, was super disrespectful towards pangina and the fans excuses the behavior. Jimbo also went on in interviews clearly bitter where he would attack pangina amd again, the fans pretended like it was okay. If a queen of color has done just half of what jimbo ks you wouldn’t hear the end of it. Production is included in this. It’s known that jimbo went on a huge rant attacking production and pangina after being eliminated and it wasn’t shown. Again, I don’t doubt if it was a queen of color they would have probably given 10 minutes of the episode just to show it and then talk about in the reunion all while the racist fans attack the queen. It’s honestly disgusting.

I'm also a Cis lady and I don't take offense to the same things that Victoria(or some of other ppl in the fandom has)seems to have(I adored her/was so proud of her for being the 1st Cis lady on the DR franchise and was sad when she left early on UK DR)and of course she's entitled to her opinions but I've only thought of the "fish" thing as a word drag queens use for each other and not to make fun of women at all? She seems like the type of person who only makes a big deal out of something only because she doesn't like it, but otherwise could care less? Then to keep on being repetitive with the "fat" stuff from back on DR UK, but when it was being in relation to Silky, Vicky didn't speak up? It's crazy because before the breastplate situation came up, I was thinking how I was surprised she didn't whine about that but then it came up? Then the combination of blonde hair and breastplates which, Jimbo choosing to wear BP's and blonde hair is also 🙄🤦🏽‍♀IMO because, not only does she incorporate those 2 things into her drag but has worn them with other looks? DQOC, also use BPs(Nina Bo Nina Brown and Koco Caine from Dragula wear BPs and Nina's worn every wig color under the sun with hers, to mention 2)why didn't anybody whine over Jaymes Mansfield, or the countless other queens who does it/done it? Victoria may have points but needs to not obsess over everything to the point where, everything about the Artistry of Drag, needs to be normal and boring? That's why I fell in love with it in the first beginning? It's bad enough that the show has had to change a lot of things to appease the straight audience as it is?
@jaybee4118
@jaybee4118 Год назад
I’m not sure a few tweets or comments is “obsessing”. The roots of the word fish comes from the idea that someone looks so much like a woman they can smell their vagina. So, they’re using the misogynist trope that vaginas smell of fish. It’s not the worst thing in the world, but it’s far from great. It’s always made me a bit uncomfortable because I got the meaning before hearing it explained. It’s a pretty vile trope.

I used to be friends and songwriting collaborator with a woman who despised Jimbo..Like I could not mention Jimbo's name without her going on a tirade on how much she hated Jimbo. At one point I had to tell her that it just felt rude since she knew that Jimbo was my favorite drag queen. When Ukvtw came out I remember getting so much joy from telling her that Jimbo was on the season. Since then I've learned that she has stolen most of her songs, collabs with nazy sympathizers, has sexually harassed men and is in general just a bully that no one likes..I hope she is somewhere, pissed off that Jimbo is once again going to be on her TV screen

Jimbo is a queen who I instantly understood when she first walked into the workroom. She is someone who is an artist first, drag queen second. She has such an outside the box way of viewing the world and even her industry, kinda like Jinx Monsoon, Yvie Oddly and Willow Pill. And that kind of perspective is often demonised or dismissed in the drag circles which I find hilarious since one of the first recognisable drag queens in the world other than Rupaul was Divine. Just saying. 👀☕

The hate Jimbo gets for "mocking women" is more offensive than anything he's done. Making out that the bimbo stereotype is wrong is offensive to a lot of women who *are* like that. If some people don't like it then fair enough, but it does make me uncomfortable that some people think women can only be represented one way as opposed to every way (including the "slutty" way)
