Back in the day, characters in comic books were coded by color. Heroes wore primary colors: Superman, Captain America, the Flash, Spider-Man, Iron Man, and the X-Men all have a lot of reds, blues, and yellows in their costumes. Meanwhile, villains got secondary colors: Green Goblin, Lex Luthor, Magneto, the Joker, and Vulture have a lot of greens and purples in their costumes. Sometimes, this would be subverted. The Hulk is green and wears purple pants, because the public sees him as a villain.

This movie came out not too long after Stan passed. I remembered absolutely losing it in the theater when I saw him come up. "I'm going to miss him. We were friends, you know."

Okay I'll say it Prowler was terrifying in this movie, the darkness, the form, his movements, that eerie noise/ music he's got etc. Just a creepy version of him and it's awesome!

This movie is automatically a masterpiece just for the meme ending.

17:53 it's always so impressive that when three of them get their spider senses triggered, Peter straight up looks above to noir spiderman because he has his spider sense that much polished and active. Meanwhile Gwen looks a bit left and right and then looks above, and Miles just randomly turns his head and sees spiderman noir at the last. It's an interesting detail how each one of them has got the hang of their spidersense in that order

Don’t feel bad for crying. Movies do that to everybody. I had to sit down 6 days before Christmas and tell my boys their dad had finally passed away from cancer. They knew it was for the best and on Christmas Eve we looked up at the stars and talked about how Daddy was watching Santa deliver presents to everybody. ❤️

The black and white villain is Tombstone, he isn't from Spider-Man Noir's reality he just has grey skin.

The two heavy weights are black widows and brown recluse, and even then their bites are not that bad to teens and adults. Brown Recluse can require treatment to prevent tissue death around the bite (I know from experience).

The scene with his father talking to him through the door always brings me to tears. It's because some of us are fortunate to have parents or guardians who give us that tough but supportive love. They just want what's best for us and we always get that honest conversation. This was that and they nailed it so well. Mostly due to Brian Tyree Henry's emotional performance. Having Miles just listen allowed him to understand that his fathers not out to ruin his life, but literally just wants what's best for him. It was such a beautiful scene and every time I watch it, it's just waterworks. Thanks for reacting to this movie, Mary. Keep up the awesome work.

But Olivia... it's not stated, but she has to be aware that Kingpin's plan won't work, because his family will disintegrate. It's implied that Octavius would love to take that chance FOR SCIENCE. And it also suggests she's playing Kingpin and not afraid of him at all. I really like it, I hope she comes back somehow.

Milles himself is from an alternative universe compared to the "mainline" universe (MCU is also considered an alternative one), and in his universe Peter did die (it started as a "what if" storyline). Right now he exists as well in the mainline universe (where peter is still alive). Bonus: Ned, which is the best friend of spider-man in the MCU is an old character that has brought back by Milles comics where he is Milles best friend. The MCU Ned is a carbon copy of Milles Ned but friends with Peter instead. In this movie Ned is his roommate. Also, Milles uncle is also in the MCU, in Spiderman Homecoming he is the guy who spidey get the information about the boat (and also let locked in the car by a web, with ice-cream that for sure has lost)

That was "Spider-Man 2099" from the far future jumping into the old 60's Spider-Man cartoon meme. I remember reading "Spider-Ham" in the 80's, so yeah it's a legit Spider-Man comic.

The untold story between Miles' Father and Uncle Aaron is amazing. Two young African American boys growing up in Brooklyn in the 80s and 90s, the things they must've seen and the pressures on them must have been immense. One when into law to keep people safe on the streets, the other turned to powerful crime probably thinking to do the same. "You're the best of all of us. Just keep going." - Uncle Aaron Makes me cry everytime.😢

There's a bit of color coding that tended to happen in older comics. Green and purple were usually used for villainous characters, while the good guys got reds and blues. Not always the case, but Spider-Man's rogues gallery is a pretty good example of this.

Her death is a big moment in comic history. There are comics where she’s Spider Woman. They didn’t bring the spider people intentionally. They were brought because Green Goblin pushed Peter into the beam. Kingpin was saying “Get him out of there!” You’ve actually seen Miles’ uncle in the MCU. Remember Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) in Spider Man Homecoming? People actually wanted him to play live action Miles for a while. In fact you can see an episode of community playing on Aaron’s tv in this movie where Donald is wearing a spider man shirt Tombstone isn’t from Noir’s dimension. He’s an albino. That Spider Man in the credits scene is Miguel O’Harra, from Spider Man 2099. He was voiced by Oscar Isaac, Poe from star wars That wasn’t Stan at the end, it was J Jonah Jameson. The guy in charge if the Daily Bugle who hates Spider Man. Someone spread the false fact that he had been voiced by Stan, but he wasn’t.

Uncle Aaron like in the multiple adaptations (Mainly the Ultimate Spider-Man Miles comic run, the Spider-Man Miles Morales game, this, and even in Homecoming as Donald Glover) all fell to crime because they were good at it. (A '93 child too? Like the famous restaurateur Dexter Jexster said: "Hey, whadduya know!")

I think this would probably have to be my most favourite Spider-Man movie ever!

A part of me died when she called J Jonah Jameson Stan Lee in the after credit scene.

Wouldn’t he want to go to the hospital? For a spider bite? This takes place in the US where it would cost him $500 just to be seen by a doctor.

The one advantage about half of these viewers and myself have over you Mary is that we got to see this on the big screen back in 2018. It had a much more immersive feel in the theaters. And everybody noticed how it changed the animation look here and there to enhance each scene. Artists must absolutely love the expressionism in this! I was so glad I got to see this in the theaters.

Mary's grandma voice made me chuckle. The post credit scene was Spider-Man 2099, it was part of Marvel trying a more adult/edgier series in the mid 90s. (Doctor Doom was a good guy and ended up taking over the US)

There was a viral thread on Twitter when this movie came out which excerpted the part of the script when Miles finally takes the big leap. It describes that the image should be upside down, with the text reading, "He is not falling. HE IS RISING." Even typing that makes me tear up.

As a 50 year old man I had no plans on seeing this film, but after my younger coworkers recommended it to me I gave it a chance. While watching it I knew I was right, this film was not made with 50 year old men in mind. And yet I was still amazed! I had so much fun watching this. Being a huge Spider-Man fan when I was a kid took me back to everything I loved about Spider-Man in the first place. So grateful to see this.

Great reaction! For the collider plan, it was always to bring back Kingpin's family. The spider people were brought there because green goblin held Spiderman in the collider's beam in the beginning of the movie. 🙂

Mary I almost forgot the girl who voiced Gwen were we playing Kate Bishop in the Hawkeye TV series on Disney she was also in the transformer movie bumblebee . Plus the guy who voiced kingpin played wolverine's "brother" sabertooth in X-Men origins wolverine and the guy who voiced the Spider-Man that died played Trevor in both Wonder woman movies

That is what I feel makes this movie so great. Even though it's got crazy animation it still manages to feel so human. That scene with miles and his dad is powerful because you could connect with it.

Couple of fun facts/info for Mary. This is based on the comic books. Miles originally comes from a multiverse in the comics known as the Ultimates universe (which is where the black Nick Fury is from. Originally he was white but in this universe, the artist modelled him off of Sam L Jackson, which meant he obviously got the part in the MCU). He is also animated at a lower fps to everyone else at the start of the movie, which makes his moves more janky, until he gets the full suit. He dates Gwen in the comics. He becomes the new Spider-man when the multiverse merges and people have the ability to freely travel between them. Gwen is "Spider-woman" on her earth, where Peter Parker becomes a villain called the Lizard. She kills him, then gets blamed for killing him by the police (which her dad is the chief of). She's voiced by Hailee Steinfeld (Kate Bishop in the Hawkeye TV series). As there is a Spider-woman in the regular comics, she is known as Ghost Spider in the regular Marvel universe. She's one of the few Web Warriors that can freely travel between dimensions. Jake Johnson is Peter B Parker, but Chris Pine (Steve Trevor from Wonder Woman) is the Blond Peter who gets killed. Spider-man Noir is played by Nicolas Cage (who changed his surname to Cage after his favourite comic character at the time, Luke Cage, rather than use his real surname which is the same as his uncle, director Francis Ford Copolla, so he could break into Hollywood under his own merit rather than piggyback off his uncle's fame). Spider-man Noir is a version of Spider-man that never made it out of the 1950s, so relies more on his Film Noir detective skills than his powers. The comics are in black and white and he basically just fights slightly powerful mafia gangsters. The scene where Miles finally embraces his destiny and pushes himself off the building is physically impossible as the city has been warped in the shot. The city is actually stretched around a small sphere, to enhance the camera angle as he drops to street level, but it creates an awesome effect that isn't really perceptible to the naked eye.

I really think you should give the Andrew Garfield movies a try. I personally prefer them to the Tobey Maguire ones. I know that's an unpopular opinion, but I really liked them.

Andrew Garfield is criminally underrated as Spider-Man and should give his movies a shot they’re actually pretty good.

I felt the same way when I first seen THAT scene in the theaters. Definitely made my friends feel awkward

This film was so impressive in so many ways. Incredible art, acting, music. The ‘printed’ textures on overlay colors. The next film Across the Spiderverse… is phenomenal. I can’t wait for you to see it. It’s an amazing piece of work ❤

The Andrew Garfield Spiderman movies are underrated. What I like about all the Spiderman movies is that they all focus on different aspects. The Andrew Garfield movies focus a ton on the emotional aspect. I personally love them a lot because I love emotional movies. I think you should give them a shot and maybe react to them.
