That ending where Connor comes back after getting shot by Hank hurts me so much. It’s symbolic of Hank’s past and trauma of losing his son. He’s trying to move on but after Connor appears, he begins to see Connor like Cole, his son. After Connor dying so many times, Hank wants to just end it all. Connor is symbolic of his past haunting him. It’s worse when he never goes away, even after “dying”. His past will always come back to haunt him.

As someone who hadn't know about dbh when i first saw this, my interpretarion was I legit thought hank is a scientist who keeps recreating connor (i kind of had an idea he's not 'human' for his circle led, blue blood, and several gravestones) and drinks his sorrows away. On the other hand, the child shown (that's supposed to be cole), i thought connor had some human thoughts that he longed to experience being hank's child or something. Idk man, just looking back at my first impression and comparing it to the real thing makes it kinda hilarious and interesting haha xD

Chloe24603 Ohhh now the video and it’s lyrics make sense. Most likely Hank doesn’t want to shoot the real Connor and the lyrics convey his pain and agony when the real Connor answers his questions wrong/ends up being shot by Hank.
It’s not that, Everytime Connor dies, he loses a bit of “human” in the next machine. Eventually he completely went robotic making Hank upset. He has no longer friendship and no longer has any interest in Hank anymore. Hank shot Connor.

I’m interpreting this: Hank had trust issues from his past trauma. Hank sees himself as someone broken, a single shoe, a clock without hands, and he’s hurting because of how he is. He sees himself as a “monster”. Connor tries to convince him that no one is perfect, and he tries to fill up all of the voids in Hanks life. Connor does so, but Hank thinks that it is too good to be true. He’s scared of the change because he doesn’t want to be hurt again. Hank continues to push away, but realizes that even if he does, even if he drinks or says mean things, even if Connor dies, Connor is still there for him. It’s hard for Hank to believe that he can be happy again, but Connor insists that they can be happy together. And I think Hank finally realizes this too. It’s such a sweet song. And it touches up on this pair perfectly. Romantically, as a family, platonically, or otherwise... Hanks troubling past and trust issues, his and Connors relationship that changes them both for the better, and Connor’s earnestness and genuine concern for Hank all shine through in this song. And I couldn’t be happier because tHey are my fReaking bOis!!!!!

I always saw these two as a great pair, like father and son. This just makes it even more great. I wish there was a route were they are like family, like with Kara and Luther. They didn’t love each other but considered each other family.
I like to think after the pacifist ending, they grow to be a proper family and they love each other. I think they need each other so much, and since Connor is so knew to deviancy, he needs a dad to be a guiding hand. If you pick the deviancy path, Hank is one of the reasons Connor learnt to be alive.
You gotta imagine how hard that is for Hank, seeing each Connor get killed and then just coming back like it’s nothing. Hank cares about Connor and treats him like his own son, and he already lost his real one, seeing Connor die so many times for him must be super tough to deal with.
I really love this mv because I can be interpreted in many ways. I know a lot of people who really love the Connor x Hank ship, whilst others don't. This can be taken as Father and Son relationship between the two, a Connor x Hank ship, or, something completely different like how Hank is hurting because of his son's death. I ship them romantically, they're so cute together, and they can both help each other in so many ways,, Connor can help Hank with forgetting about his son and his alcoholism and Hank can help Connor decide who he really is. They are amazing and cute and I love them❤❤

If you love the game, it would be a good idea to buy and play it. I'm not sure if you did since leaving the comment, but playing is much more emersive then watching somebody else play it and you can make your own choices which lead to different outcomes. Plus, you are supporting the developers so they can make a new game.
There's one picture at 2:28 of Connor smiling in his people clothes leaning on Hank and the juxtaposition of that one adorable picture against the rest of it about Connor going full machine bad end just hits me so hard right in the heart. Usually you think of bad ends as what could be and the good ending is the true one but this is like being forced to confront the opposite and it's so SAD you got me good
I’m assuming 2:28 leans towards being a deviant but starts to die more often till the point he is like a machine except now instead of genuine love his mind is more of programmed to copy his past self instead. It pushes Hank to realize just how far Connor’s gone and that he can no longer go back to what he was before dying. That’s pretty much why he gives up and shoots Connor himself.
