Therewolf Media - "Iron Maidens" Ft. chicknamedd | Penny VS Alisa 

Comissioner here, I said I'd be back with a match-up with more hugs and here we are. Quite the honor to be the one whose commission kicks off 2024. Although, I'd be lying if I said I was expecting it to be so soon. Don't suppose Tekken 8 being around the corner had anything to do with that ;). RWBY and Tekken are both notable for their music so when this absolutely banger of a match-up came up I knew a commission had to be done. As expected, Therewolf killed it with the perfect mash-up of Tekken's synth and RWBY's rock out attitude. The lyrics perfectly encapsulate what these two are about, synthetics going against their original intended purpose to embrace identity with the help of a good friend. I am super pumped that chicknamedd could bring her talents to this soundtrack, delivering every lyric excellently while making it feel more like a RWBY song. Particularly, bits like: "Maidens of iron a synthetic plight; Let your story unfold to; Finally feel alive" flow super well imo (while working in the song title naturally). There's also "You are my maker; but not my savior" which I will take as an indirect diss to Jin and Ironwood. I'm pleased how this turned out and am sure everyone else can agree. However, there is another reason why I commissioned the track. I have started work on animatics for fan DEATH BATTLE scripts I fully researched either by myself or with help and my next project just so happens to be Penny VS Alisa. Although I wanna say it'll be a few months till its completion as I still have responsibilities to attend to, I will be using this very commission as the backing music to give it extra oomph. Until then, I dropped my latest project yesterday, Okuyasu VS Kuwabara (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure VS Yu Yu Hakusho)! The response has been good so far and I'd love to hear your thoughts. Honestly, this is the best matchup for both characters especially if you look at their similarities to each other with being created by a scientist and be embraced to be their daughters like going off with the story of Pinocchio which ironically is the story that Penny is based on.

This is honestly my favorite for both. I know Penny VS Zane or Mack are popular, but Alisa has almost no matchups, so seeing this happen would be hype

As expected, Alisa vs Penny. Not only do a trust the music these two can bring, but is also great to start with a Tekken track because Tekken 8 literally around the corner.

You guys need to collaborate with Chicknamedd more often, this is awesome! Not to say your other songs aren't just as awesome, but I love this too. Keep it up!

And so we're back with the first Therewolf track of 2024! And with a good matchup with vocals only, that's unique. I wonder if there'll be an instrumental version of this as well

As someone who helped work on a blog for this matchup, I'm excited to witness this banger.

Not a fan of RWBY and genuinely couldn't care less about Tekken so I wasn't expecting much from this track originally. But then I saw that it was a vocal track and that definitely increased my expectations by a lot. And were they met ? You're gosh damn right they were. As said above I don't know nor really care about RWBY and Tekken so I won't really be talking about character fittingness but I sure as hell can speak about how good I find the track to be in general. From my limited knowledge of RWBY OST it definitely feels like a RWBY track: very high energy with lyrics that mesh with the instrumental just as much as the instrumental meshes with the lyrics and with a lot of variation during the track itself. Speaking of vocals I must also mention that it was quite surprising to see a track release with vocals right away without a solo instrumental release first. Doesn't take away from the song of course, just an interesting thing to note. And on that note I must commend the vocal performance in this track as it's simply fantastic. As said before it makes the song feel a hell lot like an actual RWBY song and that's quite nice since the OST is the only thing I kinda care about when it comes to RWBY. And the song fully capitalizes on this with catchy vocals that aren't repetitive, that are delivered masterfully as said before and most importantly that just sound really good. Of course the instrumental makes the lyrics stand out a whole lot too so I must commend that too as it gives a very catchy tune to the track that makes it stand out even more than it would otherwise. Speaking of which, I must of course mention the highlight of the track being its final arc starting at 2:38. The way the track does an half-fakeout by shutting down fully, only leaving a very ominous bass to be heard to both build up tension and scale is great. It manages perfectly to do what it strives to achieve: making the true ending starting at 3:00 stand out. And boy that ending is freaking magnificent. The sheer scale and epicness that it transcribes is through the roof, even more so given the vocals that essentially turn into choirs for it. It absolutely feels as if both characters are unleashing their final strongest attack, making the very earth around them shake from the power of their final clash. It feels like a final stand followed by a final victorious tune starting at 3:23 to accompany the winner as they finally strike down their opponent and I really like that. This whole ending segment takes an already amazing song and completes it with a truly excelling finale. Overall this track is one that I didn't expect much from originally but that I'm extremely glad I was mistaken on: it's a wonderful song with absolutely amazing vocal integration and performance that makes it stand out massively, something even more emphasized by a wonderful ending that excels at what it strives to do. I don't know the characters so I can't really identify to how fitting or not the song is altho from reading a quick biography of the characters it seems to work with their backstories ? Regardless, I'm sure fans of either or both characters will love it even more than I did myself. Amazing job with this to both artists.

If death battle stays I want this battle to happen and I want this to be the theme

The goat masux payed for most of the track but i did take a tad of a chunk out of the price as well And wow did it come out absolutely amazing. The track mixing the feel and hype of both series is so great along with more sweet sides (fitting the characters) and a huge buildup that picks back up on final clash with everything at stake for both characters before it finally ends back on that fun catchy bit showing how no matter the events they stay the same at heart. That sense of humanity and oneself is of course amped by the absolutely bonkers performance of Chicknamedd that really takes the entire thing to the next level. Not to mention Redrunner killed it on the art as well. The maiden made of iron wins ngl

I love this song! But I don't want a Death Battle with Penny. That girl has been through enough death as it is!

I always wonder how this will go for either. Whether you would buy the Winter Maiden powers for Penny or Alisa having the better tech (i.e. her regeneratable body and her explosive arms and head). Other than that, this is a well-made track.

Still have mixed feelings about this matchup. Although this fight has potential, and this soundtrack slaps, but if we’re bringing Penny to Death Battle I don’t want to kill her off again. Three times was enough.
