I really like how you broke down the refuel weight to get same as isobutane and runtime cost. Great review! Well thought out. Been considering the same thing. Probably gonna get the backpacker based on your review and already have a jetboil java so same fuel. Not terrible on fuel consumption for a mosquito repellent. How well does it work with O+ blood types? My wife's a mosquito magnet lol

Anthony, thanks so much for watching and leaving a comment man! I really like the Thermacell's, but I'm not sure they are blood type specific 🤣. My wife gets eaten alive too and these things really do cut down on the biters.

You DO NOT need to buy refills. Just refill them yourself the same way you would with a lighter. It's a hell of a lot cheaper!

Not so simple. There's a hack but takes some effort. That said I wish the product is easily refillable by design, so we won't need to waste so much plastic packaging. The company cares a whole lot more about its profits than the environment.

@@kitty4536 It's very simple. And you only need to do it once and then just refill each time. The big companies care more about making money then the plastic.

I think the mats are of different sizes and that Thermacell has stopped selling those of the MR450 without the butane precisely because of the trick to fill the cartridges yourself...
