Lee I used to work for a corporation that among its many products, refurbished old late 1960’s to early seventies IR cameras. I was a tester for the end product, and was very impressed how much detail the camera could pinpoint. It picked up my heat shadow on the floor, and if I put may hand on the metal cabinet across the aisle (10 feet) it would show my hand print for a minute just touching it 10 seconds. Amazing that all that technology in your hand with color, where as the test camera was Greyscale only. Take care.
you don't have USB-C on your phone (you use thunderbolt) so OTG doesn't apply to you .... personally I would have got the USB-C version and then just bought a thunderbolt-to-USB-c adapter ...... BUT you might be able to find a thunderbolt cable with male on one end and female on the other, so you can use it an an extension cord.... but for $299 this is a GREAT PRODUCT!!! I would LOVE to have it just to play around with... but at $300 it's a bit much just for me to have a little toy to play with and not have a specific use case...but if I did need thermal (which would be REALLY useful repairing electronic, which I do SOMETIMES) this would most likely be the one I get :) THANK YOU!
The convenience of using your phone is great and it seems to perform excellent however the price really makes it hard unless you have a real need for a thermal camera but a fun video so thanks for sharing
Use it outside during the night! That is when it would shine. Also if you can try and see the wires w/in your walls that are powering something using lot of power, or your circit breaker box. This feature would be useful for electricians.
Way too expensive product imo compared to others. Heck isn't flir one in that price range and it can overlay photo from phone to heatmap. I bought Cat phone with Flir thermal camera for was it 350 euros iirc.
Can you use your IOS version of the camera with a PC? How to connect the IOS version to the computer, I have USB-A and USB-C, have you tried it? Which cable, connector do I need, does it reduce the quality compared to a direct connection with a mobile phone?
