Ohh, very nice. I was curious if anyone with a P3 would upgrade to the P3 Pro. I considered the AIO up top. I wish you could post pictures in these replies.. I'd love to see it.
Say what?! I would love to see a photo of your dual GPU setup. And secondly, what's your purpose for two GPUs? Probably can't run them in SLI (NvLink) setup that way.
@@JohnLCharette I use virtual machines. I use one gpu to pass to the vm. The other is for my host. I currently have my setup in a h500i lol. I want to upgrade one of my gpu and the cpu so I want better airflow etc. I fell in love with this case when I saw it. I’ll show my current setup.
Nice cabling! And yes, I wish you could post images inside RU-vid posts. All good. Thanks for sharing that with me. I certainly haven't heard of that use case before.
@@JohnLCharette thx. I use Linux for most things but I play vr and I have a pimax hmd wich needs windows. I also need to use proprietary cad software etc on windows so I need this setup since I refuse to run windows bare metal install.
I have a beefy Thermaltake Tower 500, only had it a year and its too darn big... I'm thinking of getting the P3 TG Pro and buying a second fan mount & placing it on a tv trolley stand, fingers crossed the weight aint too much.
It certainly had it's challenges. I'm sure you saw the look on my face while I tried to figure it out live on camera.. haha. Did you run into similar struggles with mounting the power supply?
@@JohnLCharette, yes, I had to place it upside down as well. It works great though. I have it mouted on the wall. I have an AIO on the CPU that is mounted to the right of the motherboard. I plan to put a closed loop 4090 and I'm debating placing the GPU AIO on the top or the front of the case in the additional bracket it comes with...
This sounds like an incredible build. I would love to see photos! I would recommend mounting the GPU AIO radiator on the top, if the tubing is long enough. If you do end up mounting it on the front, I recommend the tubes being at the bottom of the radiator vs the top so air isn't trapped in the tubes. It shouldn't make a big different with performance, but can make gurgling sounds.
Great question! I can't find any information about it on their website. Given that the brackets are standard ATX sized PSU, I don't know if it'll work unless you rig some different brackets. 3D printer?!
Stumbled upon this video after I also stumbled on the latest refresh of the Core P3. I love the redesign of the PSU/(vertical) GPU mount. I wish they sold glass panels for the front and top though. Perhaps in the future?
Ohh, interesting idea to have a glass panel on the front and top as well. I wonder if that would close off air access too much. Do you have one of these Core cases right now or are you considering one?
@@JohnLCharette I did a Core P6 build for a friend and the temps were fine due to the gaps on the lateral ends on the glass panes. Essentially, I am inquiring about mimicking that. I’d use a 420 mm arctic AIO via the motherboard side and glass on the top and front to protect against foreign objects (e.g., liquids). Plus, the P6 doesn’t support E-ATX
Ah yes. I knew one of their models had a glass front. I searched P5 and didn’t see it. It’s the P6! Yeah, this new P3 Pro would allow 420mm and EATX. I’m loving it so far!
hello Johnny, where can I buy one of those extra brackets for the radiators? I am planning on custom loop with dual 420 radiators. Thanks a lot and congrats on your content, its awesome
I have a Thermaltake Arctic 360 in a P3 case that I have loved for 2 years. The new one looks great and I like the different "foot" area and available colors but im still grooving on my P3 and doing upgrades but hey who knows.
Ohhhhh, the arctic white is very slick! Yeah, I agree about the new feet probably supporting the case better overall. If you already have a P3 and it's working well, it probably isn't worth upgrading. I just had this build featured on ThermalTake's Instagram account - so stoked! instagram.com/p/CrK_NG5NOVI/
@John Charette i was looking at you post before its cool. I'm only talking about adding memory, storage and new fans and actually it does work fine. I check in with Thermaltake support occasionally because they really are cool for advice. I'm a record cover illustrator and my table combines paint and digital. I'm too busy to game but I do and now gaming computers are my hobby.
Record cover illustrator? Very interesting. I went to college for computer animation and now run a video game development studio. We focus primarily on 2D mobile games.
@@JohnLCharette i started in the 70s as an illustrator for periodicals and entertainment. i experienced many shifts and changes in the publishing and animation industry especially digital altering absolutely everything. i love digital but am way more experienced in traditional and use digital as much as possible in preparing watercolor images. i know that contemporary gaming is the the eye of the hurricane in modern entertainment and love it>
That's so interesting to hear. Thank you for sharing! When I went to school for Computer Animation, we spent the entire 1st year learning traditional animation practices with paper and light tables. I'm less of an artist, more of a tech guy - hence the channel. I really enjoyed it once we started to use Maya for 3D animation. Those days are long gone though. 20'ish years later I thankfully get to work with some amazing artists.
Nah, you're right. I don't think it affects anything. With a smaller PSU, it'll give you more room to work around that support pillar. You probably won't run into the power supply cable issue I ran into. Which power supply are you using with this case?
I can't see why this wouldn't work flipped 180 degrees. The GPU would still be horizontally mounted. The power supply gets until support with the U shaped bracket. The rest of the system is screwed directly into the backplate of the case. I'd say you are good to go. I'm more curious about why you'd like to mount it upside down? ;)
I ordered one and bought a Corsair SHIFT PSU with it and worried now that I have to make some cutouts on the case for the PSU cables because the PSU outputs are side mounted on the SHIFT.
Yes, you're absolutely right. Depending on how you mount it, if you don't want the cables coming out the front, you'll need to cut a whole in the case. That being said, if you do it well and hide it behind the PSU, it would be SICK. You wouldn't see any cables at all. I wish I still had that build so I could tell you if there was anything structural or important behind the PSU to know if it's doable. Please let me know how this goes. I think if you do it well, it could be an incredible mod for this case.
@@JohnLCharette Unfortunately not. They held back the entire order because the case was backorder ed or something. I was hoping to receive it before the weekend which might still happen, but now had to order the case a different place.
@JohnLCharette Everything arrived. I managed to get it built and customized (I'm no magician with a dreml but I expanded the hole in the back plate enough. It looks alright but nobody is ever gonna see it. Just finished wall mounting it today and after struggling with AMD's less than user friendly drivers it is almost ready. Now cable management is next - I have an elevation desk so I'm wondering how bad the dynamic cable sock will look.
For this case, I would only recommend buying a Thermaltake vertical mount riser so that the screw holes match up properly. You can find a few options on their website here: www.thermaltake.com/products/chassis.html?cat=80
Don't worry. The PSU fan always sucks air IN through the case. I was incorrect thinking that it would blow out. It sucks air in through that fan and blows out the back.
Why do you pronounce it as Rad~i~ator? Either you just simply don’t know what a radiator generally is used commonly and pronounce it like it’s a computer specific device or you are just trolling consistently since you have native English skills
Ha! That's a very good question. I asked my wife how to pronounce it tonight and she also says I say it wrong. Huh, who knew. I appreciate the feedback. I'll do my best to start saying like Raid-i-ator, instead of Rad-i-ator. Thank you!
@SaDu by standing, you mean it's vertically mounted? I wasn't able to test it, but I imagine if the card is too close tot the glass, it could smother the fans. Is that what you think is happening?
The original P3 is much better you do not need a top or a front panel it is a complete waste of time... And stops air flowing, the original design of the P3 is completely superior...
