Can 2 of those 3xHDD cages be mounted in the basement of that case? What about 3? Next question. Can we buy those 3x HDD cages separately? I dont see them listed anywhere on Thermaltake's website or even on other sites that sell the accessories that go with these cases. Thermaltake's site specs says this case can handle 5x 2.5" or 5x 3.5" (stating theres 2x behind the mobo tray so they arent including that third one that doesnt have a tray for it.. which leads me to believe they arent offering to sell trays and thus wont advertise that this can hold 6 drives since nobody will be able to find a tray to utilize that hidden 6th mount you pointed out) So thats actually 3x 2.5"/3.5" in the cage, and 2x 2.5"/3.5" on back of the mobo panel. I'd hate to have to use up the 5.25" for HDD/SDDs. The 5.25" is why im interested in this case since other cases dont add them anymore. Also I'd hate to have drives all over the place. Would be nice to have them all in one part of the case like Lian Li 011D XL and Corsairs 7000X. So if this case can throw three 3x2.5"/3.5" cages in the basement then this case is worthwhile. I have 4xHDD and 4xSSD that I need a case for and right now as it stand this case cant support my drives since it only provides trays for 3 drives. So wheres those other trays at Thermaltake!?! Grab 2-3 of the 4xHDD trays from the View 71 case and see if they fit! 6-8xHDD/SDDs in that basement would be a dream come true for us RAID users.
this case ROCKS it is huge and allows for tons of air cooling and super clean cable routing-the MOBO took a bit of finagling but went in fine-i put 17 120-140mm fans in this as i generate a lot of heat=all top end equipment does and i dont trust water cooling-a fan goes out you dont fry your system where you do if a pump goes out or you spring a leak-if any would like the awesome specs of my build let me know :)
Amra Lion hey man I'm currently trying to do a build just having to work for the money right now but please contact me my kik is alexmv420 or you could message me 4083941036 I'm going to spend about 1700 with a gtx1070 and the new kaby lake i7 7700k send me a message first build and I have questions
whats up M8?? anything i can help w/i would be more than happy too-and i know saving up for a rig is not easy-at least GPUs have dropped a bit in price
Amra Lion yes gpus are cheaper but when the one you want sells out it gets like 50-100 dollars more expensive and right now I'm just waiting in the prices
Amra Lion anyways I have questions about fans and newegg rebate money first if I a decent motherboard 180-200 how many fans could I connect to it I'm going to have this case and a total of 8 fans with the evo I don't want to get those fan controllers that you adjust with the knobs and stuff since there pretty expensive so is there a way I could just control all the fans with the motherboard
Thats what I want to know. If not then this case is a a HUGE waste of space and I'm going to buy either the Corsair 7000X or Lian Li 011D XL which both have space for 4 HDDs and 3-6x SSDs (Lian Li) simultaneously or yep 4xHDD caged and 3-4xSSD simultaneously (Corsair 7000X). The View 71 has a 4xHDD/SSD cage and 3 hidden mounts on the back of the mobo panel for 6xSSD/3xHDDs which to me isnt that great for me but ok for others since most people have at least 2xSSDs and 2xHDDs which can all fit on the back of the View 71.. However thats the max. If you have 3xHDDs and 1xSSD, or 3xSSDs and 2xHDDs your have to use the cage which means a crappy water cooling configuration since theres not much room left with that cage in the View 71. Thermaltake needs to up their game with providing storage space AND space for a proper LCS like Lian Li 011D XL and Corsair 7000X both provide. Drives me nuts they built this case and didnt design the lower compartment specifically to hold hard drives.. SOOo much space down there for like 9 HDDs too. Heck even the Corsair 680X is better than this thing that it can hold NEATLY 4xSSDs AND 3xHDDs simultaneously in the back storage area.
Neither, these excess fan slots are a gimmick, ie, if your CPU and GPU aren't properly cooled by their own fans, adding 8-10 case fans won't help much. If you don't overclock your CPU/GPU, than all you really need is some HDD cooling unless the room is 35c+. This is still an awesome case with very clever overall design and well priced back here in OZ{$190}.
Best case ever but have to replace the 140mm front fans for 200x200x25mm (Noctua 200x200x30 is not compatible -Noctua say)fan becouse of the poor ventilations to compare e.g cm h500 but this is 3 years newer:).And fromt panel dast filter block the air -not too much-but keep dast out.
Do you own this case? If so, can an additional hard drive cage be purchased from Thermaltake and can a second hard drive cage be installed in the lower compartment of the case? Thermaltake's website says the HDD cage can be placed down there but doesnt show any pics of the lower compartment to see if theres mounting holes and doesnt say if a second cage can be installed.
Has every case designer lost their mind these days regarding hard drive cooling???? Why design a hard dive cage that is completely enclosed on both top and bottom such that the top and bottom drive in each cage will be suffocated of cooling air??????????? PLEASE less "pretty display cases with lots of pretty LED lights" and more functionally well designed cases.
