I have the Carrier Comfort Pro. It has fuel where it needs it but cranks really slow like a car with a dead battery. Carrier says the starter is bad and needs replaced. I thought starters just up and quit? The apu will sometimes cough and sputter and almost start but wont. I think I'm gonna take it off and retire it to the pasture. I'm tired of dicking with it and refuse to pay Carrier $150/hr to look at it
Very good info! Question. The original owner on my tractor mounted the TK APU under driver side on my 780 Volvo. How much trouble to move it to the rear frame for easier access... I know, a real PITA, but just wondering. Thanks!
It will be tough. Fuel lines, ac lines, electrical plus redrill frame then hope all your lines and hoses are long enough. Honestly if it works I would leave it alone

I wonder if the carrier pro have same electric pump too, beside the mechanical one. I know it was also bad (mechanic all pump) comparing to the new one, I did replaced the in-line and regular fuel filter (it worked only 2 times after replacing the fuel filters, then went to s-t again) . It started like about 3 min good , then went dead again (gues no fuel going thru) , them it didn't t start at all- just crank
I have pump working but no fuel coming out of injector hose, checked banjo in and return and do have fuel to injection pump, is there something else I should check ?
Tried all that and still won't start unless I run a another hot wire to fuel pump checked plug on both sides of harness going to fuel pump both test good any ideas
I’m having hard starting issues in cold weather. Once it started I got a lot of smoke. I think it might be the glow plugs, but I have yet to have it diagnosed.
Try getting some sea foam and running a good dose through it. It will be good for your truck too but that usually cleans APU’s up like nobody’s business! It is amazing how that stuff works on apu engines. Just dose the fuel real good (just on the tank that is feeding the apu) and start it up and let it run for a while. I bet within 45 mins you will see it clear up
Koon Trucking thanks, I’ll try that just because I’ve heard it is a good product, but in warmer weather it doesn’t smoke at start up. That’s why I think it’s the glow plugs.
Oh yes we use it all the time in apu and reefers. It works wonders I’m telling u. I actually mix it stronger than it calls for. We buy the gallon cans by the case!
what is the the part number for THE SUBSTITUTE (new) FUEL PUMP? I called Napa AND they couldn't cross check it with Thermo king part number. Am i gonna need any additional fitting parts (u know like compression fitting and hose fittings) beside wiring harness to make the new fuel pump work. Thank you for making this video...leaned few things.
NAPA is #610-1077. The Edelbrock unit is part #17302. I got that from another youtube video, Hillbilly Holler We've GOT to get information out to these Truckers with APU's, the shops won't share it.
Hi I have a 2013 kw T660 and i can't start up my thermo tri pak iam just getting an engine fault on my sleeper controller and it wont do nothing at all?do you have any advice what can be wrong with it? Thank you
Koon Trucking it was the primary filter (it connects to the pump by a fuel line), clogged up. It’s new but the tri pac has ran out of fuel a couple times last month. I took the filter off and sprayed through it with my in-cab air hose. My tripac is working fine. But, you showing how to prime it really helped. Because it was air in the lines. Am not saying i,ve done this But my cousin usaully put,s a rag with gas on it in the air filter housing and she,ll start right up till she self bleed out all the air out And please no starting fluid you blow the rings apart or bend a rod
@KoonTrucking yes well luckily it wasn't the pump I found it at napa for $90 . I just did the service on it $128 parts from thermoking. Amd works good now the only thing with these apus water pump seals tend to leak I replace 1 every year till the mechanic told me juat to pull the pump out amd replace the seals my next job.
