I bought one of these based on your first video. I've only had summer use so far (looking forward to seeing how it does down to 15 degrees) but so far I'm in agreement that it is an excellent quilt, especially for the money. Also I have to say so far with my dealings, Paria is an excellent company that 100% stands behind their products and has amazing customer service.
Can't agree more. I bought 2. Rigged one into a underquilt and it rocks. Used in combination I've taken it down to the single digits with proper sleeping clothes
I have this quilt and it is my go-to for most backpacking trips I do agree a 30-degree quilt would be awesome. I love this product very comfortable and the quality is great no issues so far.
I like the idea of a blanket for sleeping instead of a sleeping/mummy bag. It was always a pain to get out my sleeping bag because I end up with the zipper on the bottom.
There is a long version available as I write this (051720), which runs $10 more than the regular on Amazon. Unfortunately, I have a couple of problems with pulling the trigger on this one. I have a Marmot 20-degree sleeping bag that weighs 39 oz. and am looking to change to a quilt in order to save weight and a little space with increased packability. But my bag isn't really a heavy one, and I've developed a rule that if I'm going to upgrade, the new item had better be an improvement in at least TWO categories. In other words, I'm not going to buy another 20-degree bag/quilt just to save a few ounces. Any upgrade needs to be lighter AND warmer (since packability doesn't really vary significantly down at these temp levels). This quilt is only 5 degrees warmer and 4 oz. lighter. It would be a great entry-level quilt for someone who doesn't already have a good bag, but isn't really upgrade material. It also doesn't appear to come in a wide. I'm broad across the shoulders and feel like a bratwurst stuffed into a casing if I'm in a bag completely zipped up. But this quilt IS listed as 56" wide, which is roughly a wide with some manufacturers. I guess I'll just keep educating myself on quilts and looking for a good deal.
I’m waiting for mine I just ordered it. I understand that bright green shows up as a gray on The website’s picture, but the current bag is still the green color in this video.
I'm getting this in maybe 3 weeks, can't wait. I'll be using it as my go to bag all year in hammock or on ground I'm getting there recharge xl pad as I'm 6'6 and 100 kg and I'm just not getting a quality warm sleep on anything else. Also the price fits my budget. Everything else I use will be ultralight so that absorbs the extra grams for the big one lol. Thanks for the review. Atb.
I had a similar reaction. I have a 20-degree bag. I'm not going to upgrade to a quilt that is only 5 degrees warmer and 4 oz. lighter. There is at least one budget option where i can get a 10 degree quilt that's around 10 oz. lighter, comes in a wide and is about $50 more than this one.
I currently have a 15° mummy that is way too warm for my high mountain summer I can wear temps are getting as low as in the mid 40s. They now have a 30 degree. Have you tried it? I have never used a quilt and I'm wondering if I should go 15 and just use it as a quilt and not zipped up when it's that warm. Or buy the 30 degree. What do you suggest?
good question. Paria fills their quilt with enough down to give the temp rating a real comfort rating rather than a cold rating. So it's got more fill in it.
It also has to do with it being 700 fill power down rather than 900 fill power down that some other companies use. 700 fill means a higher volume of down to fill the bag, thus more weight,
Would you say the actual 15 is a comfort rating? And if so paired with their pad and a liner could possibly go down to 0-10? Along with proper layering? Can’t wait just ordered. Have to start from scratch again. Also planning on using this for my CT trip in August.. to warm? I feel like it’d be fine since it’s a quilt not a sleeping bag
Hello Devin, thanks for all the great reviews. Im looking at either the thermodown quilt or the 0 bag...I feel id be more comfortable in the quilt but worry about cold would like to be able to use it Sept in Colorado. Thoughts?
Backcountry Exposure 5'9" when Im erect. 5'8" when I slouch. I usually slouch unless Michelle is around. HAHAHAHAHA (that's not right)👍 If it weren't for my Enigma I would try this but my legs are major hairy.
