That pair of trucks are amazing! You do a great job maintaining them.

I am running a NAPA 195°F thermostat in my 1st gen. Even though it doesnt have the dual jiggle pins like the cunmins thermostats it doesnt really swing in temp like most guys say and it really helps on cold -30°C days. Engine will get up to 140-160°F with the bra on the front on days like that and actually be able to heat the interior. Doesnt get above 180°F on a summers day unless I am running down the highway with a load, then it goes to 190° and holds.

Yeah I can already tell the truck is running a bit warmer in these temps it's nice.

Just received stainless steel heater core lines and associated hardware for the lines above the exhaust manifold. My steel ones are seriously pitted from rust.

Yeah I could see those steel lines rusting over time for sure.

I have a problem with Cummins 6BT5.9 engine. The water pressure shown is zero. I checked the sensor, it was fine. Then the pump. It seems to be in good condition. Checeked the thermostat for any obstacle. It is fine too. But i am not able to find out the reason for no water pressure in the engine. Is there some kind of non-return valve in the system which acts as a back pressure valve in cooling system?

I had thought the same for my truck, but I think it's the same issue the thermostat is just opening too soon. It gets nice and warm in the truck though plus we normally don't see temps below 15 degrees fahrenheit and above 90 degrees fahrenheit so I'm not worried about it. No matter how long I'd let the truck idle the #6 cylinder wouldn't go above 155-160 with a 180 thermostat.

How do you keep an eye on cylinder temps?
@baileymiller546
@baileymiller546 9 месяцев назад
@@OvensGarage Nothing in the truck, but just as you were by pointing a temp gun at the #6 cylinder on the passenger side before and after a drive.

Usually even after a drive it won't show any higher than 155-160.

@baileymiller546 I wonder if because I have that line off the back that runs to the webasto it would change the cylinder temps back there.

What’s a wabasto?
@OvensGarage
@OvensGarage 29 дней назад
@@wackedgunner7107 It's a coolant preheater that runs off diesel and 12 volt. It's a godsend in the winter here. Lol
