How far from Billows should the coals be in the pit? Opposite side from I take?

Wow, let me thank you for clear and concise instruction. I just got my Signals and Billows today and the printed instructions were dreadful, pathetic, and not very good as well. You did a great job of going into the details of how to set it up and what to set up. I gather this video was made by Thermoworks (since they are taking credit for it) so I'd like for them and/or you to answer a few other questions: Since no mention of it is made, do you leave the Billows on the WSM full time? I do not think that that is a wise approach with both a gardener and a dog running around the backyard. To take it off I would think that I'd just pull it out/off the WSM? The flimsy gasket is not attached and I'm afraid of damage. Is that a valid concern? Last question: For channel #4, I think I understand that if I want my temperature to be (say) 250°, I just set it to that temperature and that's it? Please verify that dynamic, thanks.

Just got this and using it for the first time. Is the Billows supposed to be constantly cycling on and off? Or is it supposed to be blowing more continuously?

Intriguing. But what about using with a Weber Performer kettle. The bottom vents aren't accessible because of the ash catcher.

Unfortunate that this expensive set-up requires an extension cord for ac power, presumably supplied by your house. Maybe Thermoworks can design some kind of lithium battery that can run Billows for 24 or more hours before it needs recharging. It would be an opportunity to make more money with a WiFi Bluetooth Lithium Powered model. By the way, this is a serious comment. I prefer my ceramic grill over my pellet grill precisely because it does not need outside power to operate.

ThermoWorks the absolute best thermometers......PC fan attached to grill ....really.... how about USB on the fan...phone powered by the grill while cooking....

Anyone considering Billows for an Akorn (either full size or Junior) - AVOID. Thermoworks doesn't sell an adaptor that fits the Akorn series (arguably the most popular and widely bought kamado grill on the market). COMPLETE FAIL, THERMOWORKS!!! And no, using thermal tape or foil to jerry-rig an attachment is not an acceptable solution.
