"B-Boy for life, fuck a suit and a tie. Cuz I'll know I made a difference on the day that I die. Aiyyyo I'm b-boy for life so fuck a suit and a tie." Exception made for this beautiful tribute performance 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
R.I.P. Double K. I grew up on PUTS and used to play OST and The Next Step in my boombox in high school. Favorite memory was going to a PUTS show in some loft in SF and at the end of the show Thes and double invited all of us to the roof and cooked us burgers and hot dogs. Love you all peace
Thats the most PUTS thing I've ever heard. I still remember smoking a blunt with Double K before one of the shows. He walked by and saw us blazing up a blunt, and you know Mike doesn't pass up a free blunt. Will always remember this.
Big up to People Under the Stairs! . My very first LP vinyl 12in was the Next Step album. That took me on a vinyl collection that I still add to till this day since the 98 debut. Thank you for the great music
Love that send off! People Under Stairs are a true testament to DIY Hip Hop and late 90s early 2k Hip Hop in LA. I've been following their music since they started putting out albums and went to numerous concerts they put on in the westcoast and Seattle area. Really enjoyed the music they put out over the years and have an archive of their discography. Using the MPC as a instrument was a great idea and truly shows off Chris's skills. Peace and Love, dope!Mike
I missed the chance to see them....they were all a few hours away all my room mates went and I had been too poor to go and was feeling a need to be introverted so I stayed home. Dang.
I love the fact they are all dressed professionally. They knew this was Mikes send off. Wanted to be presented in the best way possible. Rest Easy Double K you were one of the best. Real Hip Hop Fans know.
28:24 Too many airplanes! Take this with a grain of salt, but I'm 99.99% sure that I saw Thes One and Double K in an airport in Japan in 2006 having a heated discussion with someone at a service counter there... saw from a distance so have no idea what the issue was, and obviously take this with a massive grain of salt. Best Hip Hop group of all time and still enduring, RIP Double K!
*I'm grateful to have been there in person that night. Had a great time with my wife, and 2 cousins whom also love PUTS. Got to seeWest Coast legend DJ Battlecat spin a set, along with others. Dope experience right there in the heart of DTLA*
