I have lived in La Paz for 5 years and have found the locals to be beyond friendly and helpful. It’s what the town is known for. I admin a couple of La Paz Facebook groups and locals on those sites are very helpful and happy to answer newbie questions. Even before I spoke any Spanish, people were so sweet and kind. Of course, I treat people with respect and respect the fact that I an immigrant in this beautiful country.

Mazatlán is my favorite so far - so glad to see it listed here. Carnaval 2024 is occurring now - bringing 2 million people to celebrate - one huge party! The total solar eclipse of April 8 is estimated to bring 1.5 million more! A huge motorcycle rally - the size of Sturgis in the USA - is planned for May 2024. A Costco may be coming here soon. The food here is very good - I've been enjoying the local fruits, veggies, seafood, beef, chicken and eggs which are delicious.

Spent a week in PV last month, was very taken by the natural beauty, diverse geography and the seemingly endless list of things to do. The people were so friendly, and the variety of cuisines also stuck with us. Definitely on the short list.

There are lots of megaprojects for Mazatlán. Mazatlán is going to have modern skyscrapers, big hanging bridges and big commercials ports. 💰 Mazatlán is about to be even more remarkable.

I love how you said to go on the hottest time to make sure you can handle it , even knowing mentally it gets way hotter, if you visit during a more comfortable beautiful time then you will think “it can’t be that bad I’m in paradise” trust me I’m from Tucson, Arizona and people would visit during winter and fall in love then freak out when summer comes 😅 same for those of us who don’t like cold or rain , we should during those times actually to experience it and see if the good outweighs one of the bads

I’m glad you brought up the heat. I myself can’t take the heat. I’m currently just touring around Mexico for the winter. I’ve been here 3 months with 2 months to go. I was in Oaxaca area, but when the sky’s were clear, the sun was just too much. If you just looked at the temps, it wasn’t all that hot. But the sun is brutal! Since I drive down, I’m working my way to higher grounds just to find cooler weather. And it’s only early Feb! I’m in Puebla, and Pachuca is my next destination.

I moved from Tucson to Mazatlán 10 months ago and I describe the difference in the summer as jumping from the oven to the sauna 🥵 I live in Centro and love Mazatlán but I miss my Tucson eastern foothills wildlife. 🌵🐗🦉

14:50 Having lived in Mazatlán for a year, I can tell you the Golden Zone (Zona Dorada) is definitely not the quiet area of the city. It is party central 😅 Some areas near the Golden Zone like Sábalo Country are quieter but even Centro is quieter than GZ overall. You know I love your channel though 🫶🏼 Just thought I’d add that note here 😉
@joygatewood8028
@joygatewood8028 7 месяцев назад
I'm living in Mazatlán now, and staying in the Golden Zone 5 blocks inland from the beach road. It is much quieter than my AirBNB in Centro was. However anyplace along the main beach road would be noisy - whether in Centro or the Golden Zone. Those pulmonias and ATVs travel that beach road playing loud music - party central here in Mazatlán - Golden Zone and Centro.

I lived in Mazatlan for a year (Nov 22-Nov23). If you don't speak Spanish, don't expect the natives to. It is a party town, and she is right. It is loud, wild, and nuts at night. If you dislike noise, can't speak Spanish, and like to see polluted water pumped into the ocean, this place is for you. I lived on the 15th floor facing the beach....my rent was 38k pesos and that was the best deal I could get. It is a fun place if young and Spanish. Gringos beware. She is right about PV..it has the best of all worlds. My advice, go to PV and avoid Mazatlan at all costs.

Hola, I really enjoy your videos, thanks so much for making them. You quote rentals per month at say 10,000 to 30,000 pesos. I've searched on the usual AirBnB and VRBO and would say the prices are triple that. How do you find rentals at the rates your suggesting?

@tbrollini8223

Like Maz, don't like PV & especially Manzanillo, La Paz beach is good, but I didn't like the city anywhere near as much as Maz. Playa del Carmen & that area is also OK, Cozumel is also nice. I really like the East Cape around Los Barriles, from say Punta Pescadero to Punta Arena & just run on down the coast to San Jose del Cabo. It's about the same distance to La Paz & San Jose an hour & 15-20 minutes, but that area is without good medical, you have to go to the cities. Actually going to Progreso/Merida next month so that may jump into my "liked" areas. But...Maz has everything. The golden Zone, the upper class locals areas, nice areas out of town & it has all the resorts you could want for great dining & entertainment & the local restaurants are awesome! We almost always stayed at the El Cid & were going to buy in their residential community across from the hotel but business got in the way. The fishing is THE BEST! Finished my grand slam of Marlin there & caught some big ones & a 365# tuna. Just catch some nice 50# Tuna, a smaller Marlin/Sail, Take some big chunks to your favorite Sushi place & they will put it on ice for 3 or 4 days (that's how long you do it or freeze it, have also done it right from the boat, but you shouldn't) then they will fix it for you with all the trimmings & you just give them some & it's free. Greatest Sushi ever! (you can guess I like Maz) The medical is first rate & as said in the video, the airport will get to the US quickly. Phoenix, San Diego, LA - not too far, a little over 3 hr to LA, 2hrs to Phoenix. Been meaning to get down to Zwat & Ixtapa, so that will be coming soon. Lots of nice beaches in MX.

Five of six are very convenient for westerners, and they are great cities to visit. From Toronto tho, most of those destinations add 1.5 hours to a flight. So Ontarians may prefer to suffer the sargassum in exchange for the shorter flight. Love those Pacific coast towns but they’re just a lot farther away. Hope somebody soon discovers a shorter flight path. Yuk yuk.

PV landlords are very neglectful .They don't fix anything . I once stayed in the owner's family's apartment , and it was the same thing . Shower drains don't work . A/c problems , loose head boards etc. Renters are expected to fix these rentals up themselves , from light bulbs to toilet lids , and sliding doors .

Not me. A far better and more interesting beach(s) are south of Odessa in Ukraine. After a day on huge beaches stretching for scores of miles. After beaches of clean sand rather than painful rocks. After the Black Sea devoid of nasties like sharks and poisonous jellyfish and deadly undercurrents that you can safely swim in, Then after such a day there is real night life where you will not get mugged and where you can safely party. Say what you will about the war, even on a bad day you are orders of magnitude safter in the areas south of Odessa than anywhere in Mexico. Oh yeah, it costs less too, a lot less.
