I have a feeling the broken map was due to a version update. I know a bunch of free maps that became unplayable now in the newest version, and only pc players with a version changer can play them in a working condition
Yeah 1.20.30 broke a heap of stuff including dealing damage, that one relogging could fix it, the lag in the other one likewise someone noted with leaves breaking down, so mostly pathfinding related when it first launched, though the biggest problem was with villagers and bees actively path finding and that was fixed in 1.20.31. Not sure it's all been fixed in 1.20.50+ just a major bleeping headache and not encouraging mod devs to do anything to try to fix it until we're sure it's not going to change with the next hotfix release.
It's probably not easy to manage updating all the marketplace maps they upload. newer updates could probably break the maps too. This is a situation that modders also have to deal with where they either update the mod every minecraft update ot just keep it on a specific version.
@@jeff_7274 But I mean, bedrock can't downgrade in the first place (easily), so the maps are going to be played on newer versions in the first place. They kind of need to get updated...
Mojang should be removing maps where the creators don't update to new version though. They shouldn't be letting their players get ripped off by paying for broken maps.
they do iit just takes a while lmao. it’s no different to modders being behind on updates for java mods. you can’t expect it immediately. most packs work on new versions of the game there just may be a couple texture issues
Minecraft has had microtransactions since console legacy edition. Skin packs and texture packs. Theres nothing stopping you from getting custom maps, mods and skins on the pc and mobile versions of bedrock.
@@jeff_7274 yes but those were official maps meaning they 100% weren’t a scam and in general high quality unlike now where any scam or bumcheeks things are allowed
@@REALMARCHINADER that’s the exception and a rare one, then again I don’t play bedrock so I don’t worry myself if with that. If I want a map I can get it free and if it’s a scam I lose nothing
@@thsxi Pretty easy to get free content for Bedrock too. If I want a free map, I'd just download one on mcpedl or curseforge. Then again, the only reason I buy some of the dlc in legacy and bedrock is because of the quality of the content. The maps are just genuinely really fun experiences barring a few examples.
The marketplace should have an addons section so that addons like Mini Blocks and Medieval Furniture have a true place to reside in the marketplace and so that the Addons section of the world page doesn't look useless to the people who only know the marketplace.
so medieval furniture is functionally kind of like club penguin except you have to play an esoteric tutorial rather than fun minigames before you get to decorate your igloo
The marketplace is like the main reason I don’t have any interest in playing bedrock. Anyways great video as always Toycat! Edit: the reason I say this is because free maps on Java just seem to be better and you know… free
@@tucoverdascabotton107mate I played mobile minecraft for years and the variety of maps on addons for minecraft is so much less than you can find on java.
There are free maps you can get while _still in the game_ on Java? That's news to me. /s There are tons of free maps you can get online for Bedrock Edition, mostly at MCPEDL. If anything, the marketplace is just an extra feature that Java doesn't have.
Ah you're right. In that case i would probably change the challenge to something that doesnt require one specific tree type... really thats the largest flaw@@thatsbull1371
the mini blocks look like they’re about the size of a player head which would’ve been great if they had the style of player heads a cuter, smaller style instead of just smaller blocks
I actually think "medieval furnitures" is a pretty good map, it gives you everything it sais it does, the furnitures are pretty, and the edit tool is pretty original. the only things I think are bad about it is that the furniture store looks hard to find, and that there maybe isn't enough furnitures (I doubt toycat showed them all though). the fact that it's a map instead of an addon isn't their fault I think, that's how the marketplace works, and maybe you can get away from the spawn and just "make a new world"
I really like that you're being brutally honest about Minecraft and Mojang, unlike the majority of Minecraft youtubers. We must show valid criticism to make this game better!
A small blocks mod would be amazing, if you could place 8 small blocks to make 1 regular block. You'd be able to use the small blocks to substitute for slabs, stairs, or a side slab that doesn't exist yet.
There was one called DaVinci a while back, and I know something else took over and renamed it but I can't recall what it's named. It was REALLY good. It might be something like the Chisel mod, maybe? You use a carving chisel and can cut the blocks down to tiny little pieces and connect them together and build all kinds of really intricate stuff.
the fact that all of this content and more (intentionally misleading packs, over 100 among us skin packs, etc) is mojang approved, only a select few people are allowed to make things on the marketplace and this is the amount of quality control we have is the problem. It'd be perfectly fine if everyone was allowed to post things on the marketplace, maybe with a select few people allowed to post paid maps (with higher quality control) while everyone else can only post free stuff, but if Mojang want to limit who can upload their maps/texture packs/skins/emotes/etc for everyone, they should have high enough standards to at the very least make sure there aren't 2 packs which are almost identical, or any packs which are misleading, and there should be a proper trial system like on legacy console so you can try out the pack first (or a very good refund system).
The mini blocks are just less good custom player heads, cause player heads can be put on the sides of blocks if I remember correctly. Xumavoid has a Java data pack that does that better *and* for free.
The xray pack issue or any locked texture pack to a world luckily gets fixed thanks to marletplace drm being decrypted over the last year. Good luck finding the texture packs by themselves as microsoft has a huge hammer down on this. In other words piracy makes it possible to use texture pack on another world which makes the marketplace look like a joke
Same thing happened to me I got the old Jurassic world map, I was expecting a cool map to role play and explore but it was a more of a you work for Jurassic park simulator, it was a huge bummer
I still wonder why people buy texure packs and maps on marketplace with real money than just buying an app that has all of them for free and all you do is press the download button and it transfers the map/ texture pack FOR FREE!
Yeah the market place sucks and needs to add refunds. One of my nieces bought a lucky block map only to be disappointed a few minutes later because it was nothing like what her RU-vidrs had. She couldn't understand how there could be two different versions of the same named game.
that ain't a different game, it's a falsely advertised scam. enough people could probably cause the start of a class action suit over the huge percentage of falsely advertised paid stuff with no option to refund it
in my experience, the only thing worth the price on the bedrock marketplace are the survival maps, texture packs and the stuff made by mojang themselves. you can sideload most with 3rd party apps too if on mobile.
And you can softlock yourself in normal minecraft. Find a 2 deep hole surrounded in bedrock, drop all your inventory, go in hole, boom, softlocked. Find a place in the nether where you can ender pearl yourself to the roof, drop everything but the 1 ender pearl, go, boom, softlocked. Just because you can doesn't mean the game/map is bad. 🙃
"They did allow me to soft lock myself, by letting me smelt my only sapling and not giving me any other saplings." he says standing on an azalea sapling.
I mean, you could make the same argument for traditional skyblock, since if you lose your tree you are *effectively* softlocked. Sure, you can MAYBE get some mobs to spawn and start building with extra blocks from crafting a skeleton's bonemeal into bone blocks, but you are pretty much softlocked in a realistic perspective. If you don't conserve your resources... Is that really the map's fault?
@@hithere7080 Also I'm pretty sure the Azalea tree grows up to be a glorified oak tree with regular old oak logs and leaves. Edit, just checked the wiki. You are right about the leaves part since there are azalea leaves but oak logs for some reason.
For Captive survival, you *start* with a tree. Seriously, how hard is it to not lose your starting sapling? Regrowing trees for more wood should be an obvious thing. And the "Get a leaf" is just ... making sheers? It really sounds like a free achivement. I have played several prior captive survival maps, and they are definitely different and interesting. In the past, they have had challenges along the way to keep things interesting, and the maps are designed around the growth of the world border.
im sorry but you were in an enclosed world... why did you smelt the saplings? who would even do that on a map like this? its equal in stupidity to throwing them into the void on a skyblock world. in no why is that the devs fault. also you could grow the azalea with the bones to get more leaves (or is it just the wood thats oak and not the leaves?)
If you want to see truly bad maps go the route of free Minecraft maps that random people made and sort by lowest rated. This is at least professionally done
Its sad to see just how far ftb has fallen. The modpacks are still somewhat decent but everything else about them are... yeah 3 bucks for the head version of blocks data pack is kinda sad. In fact all of these are reasonably bad for the same reason, theyre rehashed app store versions of things people made for free/taking donations with superficial changed added onto them to make them look "clean". Its basically exactly how the app store of phones has always deteriorated down to millions of clones of that one app that got really popular for a month but with dumb features that try to keep people playing them for more than 5 minutes before deleting. The only thing missing from these worlds is the free version that plays ads every 10 seconds or the premium currency you need to pay for when you want to do literally anything more substantial than place a single block every hour.
stopping kids from saying stopping kids from saying first also an edit from me: my job is not to stop people from saying 'first' but not 'stopping kids from saying first' so you can say that all the time
Tbh, the only game Ive had microtransactions be a worthwhile thing to engage in is Warframe. Microtransactions in Minecraft have always been stupid, and, lets face it, we *ALL* saw that for what it is... Microsoft's greed.
I wonder how Notch would've felt in 2009 if he knew his weird little block game was gonna have tons of micro transactions with all these bright colored thumbnails and misleading gimics.
ohh , he knew, in 2009 we knew already that microtransaction would be the norm. and he sell to microsoft, and microsoft was already one of the greedyest company over the world. so he knew.
I'm pretty sure not allowing refunds is illegal in the EU. If i recall correctly steam got in trouble for that, which got them to implement the current refund policy.
i know a terrible map (im a bedrock player as well) its a furniture map but i forgot what it was called, maybe modern furniture or unlimited furniture? but basicly if u set ur game to creative (or u spawn in creative idk) and look at the catalog, youll see theres a lot of furniture and even wallpapers which are just blocks with weird textures im pretty sure you spawn in a town and where i spawned, there was only grassy biomes seemingly the thing terrible i found out though is that..if u leave then rejoin the world all ur furniture will be gone for some reason its just like that :/
My theory is that Minecraft very benevolently wants to teach children in a safe, low stakes way how to be a smart consumer who does their research. These disappointed children will always remember their first experience getting ripped off and it will be valuable lesson that will save them from future grief when someone is trying to sell them on a crypto token
I remember when i used bedrock, i bought a cool looking alternate weapons mod, just something light i thought would be a cool change, but it was just a world with everything already made. Everything had crafting recipes, but they were pointless to even have. Could only have the mod in that downloaded world.
Microsoft rewards for that free money to spend on minecoins so you dont use real money. It take awhile but if you stick to it you can get quite a bit of coins.
map files from the marketplace require some kind of encryption key from the account to work, e.g. if I copied and pasted a map file to another bedrock account where it wasn't purchased it would get locked
9:50 the tree achievement I would be guessing you would need to grab an azalea sapling, use bone meal on it to grow an azalea tree and then break the leaf blocks to obtain an apple.. Before doing that though make some shears to obtain a leaf block.. I cannot believe I am telling a minecraft expert this but you know what, its very easy to overlook this..
Seems like they were all amazing ideas, just needed better execution at delivering a great experience. I got 1 map a few months ago, with overpowered stuff and pre built mansions, BUT even though all of that was done very well, you couldn't break any block. At all. Nothing. Couldn't damage anything.
These annoy me so much, because even though i only got into making Mcpacks a few months ago, i can already see how they could've done better in most of these, or what stuff got left out. Its just like, it wouldn't have been that much harder to fix it, why??? :(
21:44 if you really wanted to use the texture pack for some reason You can go into the files for the world Go in resource packs Copy and paste it into your main resource packs folder
You can take Add-ons out of their pre built worlds but only if you can access files since you can either take the add-on out of the world or find it your premium cache somewhere.
Outro joke was mildly amusing, 6/10. 4:08- Pretty sure there are NOT “millions” of children “catching” cancer “every day”, since about 1,000 kids under 18 die of cancer in America every year, and childhood cancer has about an 80% five-year survival rate… so more like thousands of new cases a year, worldwide… (Sorry I missed watching this, Christmas and all! 😬)
I have a x ray map that works causes its not a map its a texture pack that I got off the internet cause the marketplace told me I had to pay for something that someone probably just stole made worse then put it up for money.
I don't know, but, my computer lags playing bedrock singleplayer, bedrock servers, but java? I can easily get 16 or more chunks rendering all at once. I don't get why people say bedrock is better.
I get his criticism of people who use x-ray in vanilla, but you have to remember that there are plenty of anarchy servers that allow the use of cheats.
