The 5 things about handbags that are so annoying, they put me off so much that I just won't buy these bags, the 5 things I dislike so much about bags they are a deal breaker for me. Instead of saying that a bag doesn’t fit under your arm because you’re “too big” just say that it doesn’t fit because the brand chose to make a bag that was not long enough for a normal sized woman. The fault isn’t with your size or my size. It’s the ridiculous measurement of ‘beauty’ that we are often force fed by brands.

about exotics, it’s really very personal as you said. for me, i was once chased by an ostrich, run over by a herd of sheep, and i had to back away shitscared from an alligator, so these animals are fair game to me 😂

I agree with you on the furs and exotics. Just can’t do it. I also agree about most shoulder bags. I’m 64 years old and have finally figured out I hate shoulder bags. I love hand-held, crossbody and bags I can wear in the crook of my arm.

Complete agree that we all choose our own stance on fur/ exotics. You never need to justify why you don’t feel comfortable and as you say I don’t need to justify why I do. Love that we respect each others choices x

My deal breaker is flap bags. If it has a flap I have to pass. They drive me nuts so have finally realized this and have gotten rid of them all and not going there again.

If a bag is hard to open and inconvenient it’s a no from me. I need to be able to have easy access. Also, I like to see what’s in my purse. So, either I use an organizer or avoid large slouchy bags. I especially like it when the top opening is larger than the bottom - more triangular.

I feel you so much about the shoulder drop. As someone who has very chubby arms, there's nothing worse than a bag that ends up right in your armpit. I think...even if my arms were skinnier, if that bag is basically in your armpit, can you imagine the threat of sweat or deodorant getting on it? As for dealbreakers, I know this might be a me thing, but I really cant get behind is small bags that have multiple inside pockets/dividers. One example, which I have and love the look of, but rarely use, is the YSL Mini Lou. The bag is so small already, and then you're limited, on top of that, by having compartments you have to try to fit your stuff into. Contrast that with, say, my Tory Burch mini Eleanor or McQueen Story shoulder bag. There's one and only one inner main compartment, which makes trying to fit everything in so much easier. Even a mini bag should still be (mostly) functional.

Your dealbreakers make total sense! Bags that don't fit a phone...so useless😂 Fur and exotic leathers? NO, NEVER! Fur is just THE WORST! Straps that are too short are also a no-go for me, I often have trouble with crossbody straps being too short😢

I agree re shoulder drop. Another one is too short crossbody straps unless they're removable. I'm also not sure about furs & exotics. They're beautiful but not sure they're for me. Biggest barrier for me is price.

I wish the strap drop on many bags were longer. I would have a Neverfull MM if it went over my shoulder. It’s too tight even without bulky coat etc. Sooooo annoying!!!

You explained about how much you are willing to spend on a bag at the end very well. I do not wear shoulder bags. I love a top handle and a crossbody but no shoulder. Size is not the issue, just not comfortable to me. I do not carry much, so I use mostly small bags. I like bigger bags but do not buy them because I can't fill them and don't need the extra weight. Yes! This over the shoulder reason is why I never purchased the prada re-edition 2000 I think it is, the one that's only over the shoulder. It doesn't fit my arms and why would I buy a bag that makes me feel bad about it not fitting? Loved this video!

I feel the same about fur, particularly mink because of the way they’re treated in the farms. However, I have plenty of leather bags. It’d be so curious to know whether the rest of the cow or lamb is always fully utilised or whether for luxurious brands prioritise the particular leather over which type of cow has edible meat.

Lightness is righteousness… I hope I put it right right?🤣　Heavy bag is a no go for me too! And the short strap… I am so glad I came across your video, thanks to you, I also did send my Chanel CF to Leather Surgeons and so happy I did. One another no no for me is the finicky chain strap. The strap that keeps moving around, slipping off, hurt… Chanel Gabrielle bag chain was very difficult for me.

I’m with you on the exotics and fur. Despite liking fur and exotics, I’m opposed to killing animals for bags. Im also opposed to leather but , as you said, I hypocritically draw the line somewhere. But I generally buy most leather preloved to minimize the impact.

Oh yes, the bags need to fit my phone for sure. I love to disconnect and enjoy the moment, having my phone in my hand all the time is not the best way to accomplish it. I don’t buy fabric bags personally unless it’s a piece of art like the embroidered bags from Dior or maybe a tweed. But a simple fabric , it’s a no go for me.

Delightful Video! I agree with most of your limits. A bag must hold my phone. In my opinion, micro bags look childish on adults. I have also found many bags come with obvious crossbody straps and "shoulder" straps that are actually a cross between a long hand strap and a short shoulder strap. The weight of a bag should be listed with the size. I'm not petite but I find many large bags unflattering (dreading the trend of larger bags) . If I could afford exotics, I would not eliminate them from consideration.

The phone thing is definitely mine. In the winter when I have a coat and pockets then yes it ends up in my pockets. But, I have plenty of clothes without pockets, and I find it a pain in the next to carry my phone. And, I won’t buy any bag that doesn’t stay on my shoulder if it’s a shoulder bag. I do not want to be constantly pushing a bag back onto my shoulder.

For me, the phone and shoulder drop are also deal breakers! My ideal bag is a top handle with a crossbody/shoulder strap and a back slip or zip pocket for my phone! aka LV Pochette Metis / Oxford bag. I’m hoping that one day, Fendi will add a back pocket to the Baguette and make all my dreams come true ❤❤❤

Deal breaker for totes, if they have a middle pocket/divider I pass. I agree with the phone. When I’m out with people I put my phone away and sorry, it’s not going in my pocket lol. Price I’m like you, some bags it’s worth it, others it’s not. Perfect example for me was the grey denimpression classic flap, resellers wanted 1k over retail I passed. However on a Chanel 19 lamb that I really wanted I gladly paid over retail lol.

I realized that I needed functionality rather than aesthetics. Foremost it must be light, it must fit my fone, wallet and lip balm. Tissue and reading glasses next. Crossbody over handheld, both preferably and at least have leather than all chain. Noisy hardware and charms are NO. Live and learn for me.

If a bag doesn’t fit under your shoulder, it’s not your problem. Don’t waste your money for it. It’s a problem of the seller, who didn’t construct a usability friendly item.

My one price deal breaker is that I won’t buy a micro bag that’s over 2k USD unless it’s something special (embroidery etc.). For me if it’s a small bag, but it’s not supposed to be a micro and it can’t fit my phone then that’s a deal breaker. So something like the smallest peekaboo size.
