Bought a pair on sale. Use them as a daily trainer and absolutely love the ride. Keep grabbing them for a run because they are such fun. Have demoted my Endrophin Shifts and Rincons to lower echelons. Wish I had gone down a half size because of the stretchy upper tho' and agree that they are not a heel striker's shoe. Great for sore joint days especially in the masters age group.
Used these to train for the NYCM, review is pretty spot on. Overall very happy with them but I did have chaffing issues at my ankle and at slow speeds they really worked my calves. They got me to my first marathon without injury and with happy feet. Used the SC Elite V3 on race day, which felt almost identical but 3x as light and fast.
I have a few disagreements with you on the fit. Absolutely my favorite shoe of the year. I have a wider foot (at least one of them LOL) and have no fit issues at all, from a lockdown perspective it fits perfectly the upper just works for me. I know everyone's feet are different so I get that its not the same but I was surprised to see the marathon knot on your pair because they fit so well on my foot. I will agree that the heel padding could get abrasive but it has not effected me. Its a heavy shoe but runs lighter than it is if that makes sense I have recommended this shoe to a bunch of folks and every one of them has come back raving about how great the shoe is - about to get my second pair I have loved these so much.
Lovely cushioning. Pretty heavy and going uphill is like having ankle weights, but for easy long runs where you can go faster on flats and downhils, so nice. Takes awhile to get used to going longer in them because of weight which works so many muscles, and it takes a few runs to get used to using so many muscles, but super fun. Left ankle had some weird pain first few runs, but must have been a lacing issue or sock issue because they are fine now. Glad v2 is going to be less weight. Going flat and downhill you want to run fast, but uphill the weight really makes running tough. Hoping the extra cushioning will let me run more after my knee surgery.
It works for me on long and recovery runs, 7:00-10:00 paces. I land between heel and midfoot. The plate isn't too stiff, it's ok for training without angering your calves, similar to the RC Elite V2. Too heavy to consider as a race shoe, unless you only have one pair of shoes. Had to cut out the stupid fabric overlay and stitching on the front of the ankle collar near the gusset cuz it rubs; and many other people, too. That design flaw has been corrected for version 2 coming out in Spring.
I'm loving it. Standard long run felt effortless, more efficient with lower heart rate. It's a fun feeling cruiser that could go a little faster when comparing it to other max stack trainers, but not quite as speedy as supershoes. It's a great trainer. Right in the name! Awesome video, thank you!

Wow, this is one of the only times I disagree with you Ethan. I bought the shoe thinking that because of that carbon fiber plate, I would be able to use for speed workouts. However, I only use it for easy days now, and that plate does not bother me at all. In fact, this is my favorite easy day shoe of all time. Also dude how have you not tried the new balance fresh foam more trail V2. I know you tried V1, however, they're not even close to the same thing. If you like. Max cushion and love trail running. You need to review that shoe, greatest trail shoe of all time.
I’m a little surprised you didn’t mention weight in dislikes. I love it as workhorse that really eats up KMs in marathon training, but I think the weight really prohibits it from being a race shoe or picking up the pace too much, nor is that its intended purpose as the training counterpart to the SC Elite V3 racer.
It’s funny, I didn’t really think much about the weight until I weighed them for the review and it blew my mind they were that heavy. I guess they just didn’t FEEL that heavy underfoot (which I can’t always say about heavy shoes)
Im all in a muddle with trainers at the mo, firmly set on the alphafly for my all out 10k plus race, vaporfly for anything else, tempo trainer Saucony 3 speed, Invincible for recovery... what i think would be great shoe would be an invincible with a plate...I love that cush... thats what I see these super comp as... don't get on with New balance and is the only reason I havn't picked them up yet.... WAAAAHHH
I keep waiting for the gear of the year! easily my favorite video you post and I think there has been some good stuff this year. I like the Lululemon hoodie you mentioned last year or the year before. I'll be honest I am more interested in the leisure apparel as I feel like workout clothes either work for your body or not and it's kind of tough to tell from a review video if a pair of shorts is going to work for me

Interesting, I’ve heard people say it’s better to land closer to the heal or mid foot and others say better to land mid foot or forefoot. Guess I’ll have to figure it out for myself 😂
I ran couple of times w heel strike, n while the cushioning is massive there, felt slower ... Ran mid foot yesterday n felt the carbon plate snap n the rolling forward momentum, making the running feel faster.. so this vid is right, with the deciding point of the running feel, at the mid of the shoe, to decide to run faster or slower
I dont know nothin about distance running whatsoever (Im a sprinter. or at least was many many years ago. My running consists of my treadmill and I do about 12 to 16km a week soley for health and goal purposes. Im not competitave at all. with that being said. I love this shoe. Got to be among my top two shoe experiences ever. I have plantar faceitous (how ever you spell it) and man did it these ever help. I litterally stopped runing totally cause of the exteme pain I used to have (and still have but not quite as much) in the foot and these helped 100% in terms of me being able to start running again. I went to my parents house and showed them. My mom bought them next week. She showed my ex sprint coach because he also has platar facitous and he went to buy them aswell. Again Im no distance runner. I run soley cause Im old now and I need to stay in shape. But man... if your like me youl love them. I want to buy the white ones now and paint out that riduclous pinkish orange line to a mans colour. hes right though. The tounge bothers me. its a bit annoying i find myself adjusting the tounge too often. But I think its like owning a lotus elise. ITs absolutly brilliant but because it doesnt compramise some big things you LIKE, it lacks in other parts you might just have to live with. the New Balance shoe is unbalanced but I really really like it for my lifestyle.
Only thing I hate about the shoes is it that uppers is impossible to clean. Not a big deal since I only use it for training but would be nice to be able to keep the shoes clean! If anyone has a shoe cleaner that works well on the uppers, please let me know!
Thank you. The energy arc is the combination of the channel in the middle of the shoe and how it splits and the carbon plate. That's why the plate literally says energy arc on it

You think your shoes are heavy? I’m running a 18.7oz in a size 8. Brother, you can hear those dogs comin’ 5 miles away in an ultra. I think the mafia just needs to pick me up and throw me in the river with these things on- save some money on the cement.
