Today we are going to look at the best landscape photography lenses for the Fujifilm X-T5. I'll also head out in to the woods to do some on location landscape photography with the Fujifilm X-T5 on some trails here in midcoast Maine. In addition, I will talk about a secret special lens I use when I am out shooting that is unexpected but really nice for making Landscape Photographs. For those of you that care, the entire office segment is shot on the Nikon Zf in Pro Res Raw LT. Come check it out! This is a great example of the Nikon Zf video capabilities. Using a Ninja V to record the raw output shows this camera is a real powerhouse!

Just watched this video. Excellent content. Loved all your images. After well over 6 months of deciding between sensor formats and brands, you have cemented by choice. It is APSC with the Fuji X-T5. Thanks again for your awesome content 🙌

I am personally in love with the Fujinons 16-55/2.8 and 50-140/2.8. I was used to a 9 Star* prime set on Pentax and I don't miss them.

I really do want to try those lenses one day. I think they would likely be a really good match for the X-T5. Only issue would be the weight and size would basically change to full frame levels which I don't want. Size is the reason I use the Fuji gear. Thanks for the comment!

Is the 16-55 that much better than the 18-55?

Good video, I'm learning to know the X-T5, I also have 3 Minolta lenses from the mid-80s and a K&F adapter, it works very well for me. Thanks for sharing, greetings from Bogotá.

Thank you for watching! That Z5 is a nice camera and those minolta lenses from what I recall are very good.

Interesting video. I'm also a Fuji user and was keen to see the 18-60mm in use. I have an 18-135mm (not the sharpest I know) but a great walkabout lens which I've had some excellent results with. The last fern picture was superb.

The 16-80 is a superb lens. Thank you for your compliment. I thought the ferns were really nice. The rest of the photos were just so so. I promised myself that I would post em all on here when I make a video though so warts and all, there they are. :-) I was actually really really fond of the first one too though. Those logs and sticks really spoke to me.

@@ThomasPetzwinkler you're welcome......I've been looking at getting the XT5 with that lens......it's a bit pricey though. I can see why the first picture drew you in......I'd be keen to see a BMW conversion.

Absolutely! As soon as there is snow, I am there. Fear not. Thanks for commenting though! I look forward to the snowy season.

I bought the Fuji 16-80mm and sent it back after 10 days… the rendering just didn’t sit right specifically with trees / branches and around the edges. It seemed on par in many ways to the 18-55mm. As someone who’s equally focused on landscape & wildlife, the Nikon 24-70 f4, 70-180 f2.8, 180-600mm are very appealing and comparable in size, weight, cost (less?) to Fuji 16-55 f2.8, 50-140 f2.8, and 150-600mm. Any thoughts / opinions on that comparison? Thanks

So, I will be doing a video on this but there really isn’t any competition. Fuji lenses for all the reputation they have garnered, I’ve never once used one that held a candle to the Nikon glass. That said, I think you definitely would do better with the NIkon set up. But if you are in the Fuji system, then those lenses you list are for sure the best you will get on Fuji. You will pay for them though not only financially but because they are very large compared to what the fuji system is all about. So, I am rambling here but the reason I selected the lenses I did for this video is their compact nature which matches the system perfectly. As you point out the highest quality Fuji lenses put you on par with full frame size and weight and at that point switching to full frame would be a far better idea because with the superior glass, you also get full frame dynamic range and the handling and speed of the newer Nikon cameras. I’m not trying to trash anything here. I am just trying to distill my thoughts for you so that hopefully you can make a more informed decision about your purchases. Hope this helps.

@@ThomasPetzwinkler Really appreciate the reply, pretty much aligns with my thinking. I already put up my XT-3 for sale along with my lenses: 16 f1.4, 18-55, 50 f2, 70-300, and Tamron 150-500mm. Have my sights on the Zf + 40 f2, 70-180 f2.8, 180-600mm. I do a lot of dispersed camping / overlanding / hiking with my dogs, so the ability to go from landscape to semi macro to pet portraits / wildlife without switching between so many lenses would be huge. Just undecided between the 24-120 f4, 28-75 f2.8, or a used 24-70 f4 + 50 or 85 f1.8 prime. I’ll have to do more research and maybe test them out, but the bottom line is after selling my Fuji gear, it’s going to cost me $150-$300 LESS to replace a comparable kit NEW than if I only sold my XT-3 + 18-55 and bought the XH2s + 16-55 USED. And my mind is spinning with the idea of adapting literally any vintage FF lens ever made, plus the ability to rent some top tier Z glass for that epic safari someday…. Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to respond.

The Fujifilm 100100-400mm lens is a very good lens, i use it on my XH2 for landscapes and wildlife. The zoom that goes to 3oomm would be a 450mm equivalent on a 1.5 crop sensor lens.

Thanks for the correction, I knew this, I just wasn’t thinking when I made the video. Thank you for watching also! I definitely need people who catch my errors by the way. It’s very helpful. (No sarcasm, it’s seriously helpful.)
