Shawn Obrien and I wrote These Are They. The song was written in Flemish and translated by my mother into English. I was mistaken about the time. It was written on Christmas Eve of 1993.

David Phelps was musically trained. I like a natural voice, not a trained one... He tries to make everything sound like a show tune, but to each his own.

I love this song so much I have been listening to this song for many years sung by the great tenor David Phelps and then i heard Michael English sing the first verses and David sing the last verses and this time guy Penrod sang the verse after Michael and David gave us his beautiful voice at the last verse god bless you all

Good Day, God bless........Michael English is who sang this first in 1991 when he sang with the Gaither Vocal Band. There is a video , here on YT when the GVB was Bill Gaither, Mark Lowry, Michael English, and Jim Murray. I remembering going to see them and being amazed at his voice. I will always like English singing it most, probably because he did it first and that is who I always heard sing it. Of course a lot of people like David Phelps singing it because he is a showman. One thing though Michael English was never musically trained, everything is him, David Phelps is musically trained. Just a little tid bit of info.....Have a lovely day. God Bless.

@@diamondhair11 Michael is one of a kind but so is David. It is like comparing apples and oranges. Both have natural God given talent. Your comment suggests that David doesn't have a natural talent beyond training. David is just as much a great singer as Michael training or not. David chose to enhance his abilities. You can be a fan of Michael without berating another great singer.
