idk a good portion of those collectors would just be copy cats potentially cause they dont watch any older movies or have zero interest. Depends. Some people dont watch anything unless its in theaters or on hulu/netflix/peacock anymore

I go to the Retro Games Plus in Orange Connecticut whenever I'm back in my hometown. I used to find lots of great games, but now it's really been picked through. This location looks amazing.

Vhs is still flying a little under the radar. I never imagined it having a resurgence but of course that was before I started collecting with my husband and really getting into it. Good haul and fun retro store at the first too

I saw in the video you picked up the 1984 Star Wars VHS. I found one sealed and sold it for 2 grand and ever since then I been on the VHS hunt.

I can't bring myself to sell anything, so I'd have probably kept the lot! Although I do love VHS! And its actually very good to watch for standard definition only content on a CRT, since the quality can be better than when its upscaled!

Glad you got those VHS for collections. Vast majority are less than $10, a few handful singles are maybe $18-20 each. TMNT, McGee, and a few others are worth a bit more.

My buddy got me into vhs collecting back around 2013. Nothing more exciting than cleaning out an old vhs rental store when theyd decide to close down. Just full of the best stuff. Im at around 2k vhs now but ive been thinning the vhs all the time and just using that to buy more games.

I love what you guys do here. I still scoop VHS, Beta tapes, Laserdisc, all that. I always look for specific labels. Vestron video, Cannon media, WB, Paramount. I love hunting for this stuff, it's fun.

Word of advice for your friend who owns the shop.... Don't place price stickers on the covers or sleeve in geny on VHS it kills the value especially if you can't get the sticker off clean

Im a fulltime ebay reseller, i can tell you riff is right, vhs is def worth your time, ive sold singke vhs tapes befire for over 100 bones, usually rare horror movies that fetch the most, but like he said theres quite a few that are worth buying to resell, i have over 500 vhs, from when i was younger, when all the video stores went out of business i used to go buy as many as i coupd, i loved collecting movies, my cousin would actually rent them from me, id use that money to go buy more, but yea just like anything not all are wotth anything other then just nostalgia sake, but you can say yhe samething about certain nes games, point is anyone saying vhs is a waste of time, its not, not by any stretch of the imagination, either collecting sake or selling

Those are not big boxes. they are clamshell cases. big box vhs were normally made for early 80s titles, horror films and pornos

I'm not too big on VHS but I bought close to 2000 VHS tapes for $20 unseen last year an still have close to a 1000 left. There was a few good ones in there but like you said I sell VHS mostly for 50 cents each at my buddies retro store. Old cartoons, just weird, and horror always brings the money. Out of the lot my favorite I found was Brink! lol

The main issue is VHS tapes can degrade over time. Not like DVD’s. But DVD’s can scratch easily. 🤔

As a reseller I have to point out that VHS is sometimes worth money BUT the sell through rate (how long it takes to sell) is terrible. You'll hold onto your valuable treasure for a good while.

It really depends. Without telling to much to those not in the know. The VHS-exclusive movies from big brands are still worth it, despite being relatively common. There are a handful of cartoons that never made it to DVD (let alone Blu-ray) release for mostly racial reasons. Find a few each year, and there are typically gone within a week or two. I've been sitting on Mario and Zelda games longer than that lol
