I see lures like this and flashback to the old guy I saw catching fish with a literal spoon. It was something he'd thrown together as a bit of a joke but it worked. Just a teaspoon with some bends in the handle, a couple split rings, a swivel, and a treble hook though I have never successfully recreated it.
@@DoctorSesswhat color do you use because I can never catch any on the flukes, I’ve had the same pack for two years now. Granted I bought them when I knew nothing about fishing (now I know next to nothing 😂) and I got the bubblegum color. Man do they hate it
@@danteortega6510 almost always pearl white or if the water is extra clear the grey Shad color. I like to use it as a jerk bait, pop it a couple times so it swims back and forth and then let it fall. You can fish it like this on top water, mid column, or even off the bottom to get those reaction strikes. If that doesn’t work slow down completely and just toss it out and “dead stick” it. Eventually your line will start swimming so pay attention.
@@DoctorSess I’m typically fishing the worst waters you can think of: murky Texas waters. I lose sight of baits within 6 inches of the surface. So for these waters do you still recommend white or should I get a dark blue or black if they have it? I greatly appreciate the advice as well, it’s been extremely tough for me as I’m teaching myself and can’t fish nearly as much as I want.
Meant to catch fishermen. On another channel a guy made a turd shaped lure and caught fish. Fish hit spoons, spinners and the most basic lures. There's no reason to pay big bucks for lures.
Ive seen people catch big fish with a leaf on a hook and toys with hooks attached. Just get what you feel is appropriate for the fish youre after. A $30 net will get you the most realistic bait for years for plenty of fishes
@@egomaniac247 the 8"(maybe?) Big banjo minnow in clear/silver-flash with a owner circle hook in the nose was THE lure for catching tarpon off the beach back before Hogy lures were a thing. Heavy enough to get a good cast, and sinks slow enough to stay off the bottom, and tarpon love lures that swim like snakes.
I live in Arizona it's a desert but I still have fun fishing with grubs and bugs I find near the shore crickets and grasshoppers work well but I think that's anywhere
Gota thank the OG Banjo Minow for baits like these, the Banjo was the first to make them with realistic action. Shooooot i still fish with the Banjo, shit still catches them freshies/salties.
I was like 13 when the banjo minnow came out i remember begging my parents to get them for me. Im pretty sure i had no idea what to do with them and never caught anything lol
I still fish with mine. I've had quite alot of success with the Banjo. Now the helicopter lure from Roland Martin is a different story. I've never caught anything with those
@@ChaceBennettI’m assuming it means he sets his drag really low so that even the smallest of dinks rips drag, making it sound like a monster when it’s likely not. At least, that’s what it sounds like it means
These would actually be good for arts and crafts as well especially for like making fake fish tanks to look realistic just in case you can't have an actual fish tank
You can rig them multiple ways. Friend of mine used a drop shot with the 3.5 inch and caught a ton of smallmouth. I Texas rigged mine with it on its side and caught a handful myself. You can also ned rig it, as a bladed jig trailer, wacky hook i through the back. Biggest downside is durability but they work. The 5 inch ones I have are good to throw weightless and the action is superb.
I have a bunch of these 9 inch, 2 inch 5 inch they're so nice I don't even fish them, I just play with them in the bath tub. They are killer .on ebay some are over $100. There's a tackle store near me got em really cheap $6.99. You should see the new crappie color pattern
i wanna buy these baits for white bass but the white bass in my state dont get that big so it's kinda hard to choose because i'm not sure if they'll be able to eat up the bait with me having a good hook set
I'm convinced to this day that if a fish sees regular food, it'll bite it if it's hungry or pissed, and if a fish sees some wierd wild off the wall shit that just is there that might be food, well, they just gotta have a little nibble and find out.
i would love to decorate with these realistic lures but apparently they all smell like dead meat and fish food :( Is there a way to tell if it stinks before buying?
Have you ever thought about why fish look the way they do? Bait fish usually have colors to avoid being spotted by predators. That’s why bait often uses bright colors, so predators can see them easily. Those colors won’t attract fish.
