It looks like a nasty weather situation happened and we caught it on tape . The camera lost battery and was unable to capture the worst of the footage.

I think captains classes are a good idea. Aside from people actually learning how to dock their boats, it makes everyone safer out on the water. You have to take classes and get a license to drive a car. And many of the same laws apply to both, like DUI. Just seems like a logical step to take.

Here in Washington State you are required to have a boaters license and need to take a course and test.

US Powerboating, BoatsUS, USCG Aux all offer classes on boat safety / handling and ASA (even though it's primarily sailing stuff) has an excellent docking course.

Why is it when storm/bad weather is approaching, no one has any since of urgency to clear out of ramp for next person? They will block the ramp, fix the kids a sandwich, call their Mom, everything EXCEPT load boat and get out of the way so someone else can get loaded and go? Drives me crazy.

I agree, I think boaters need to learn boat safety, driving, and laws. Wouldn't hurt to get some attitude lessons either, boating is supposed to be fun for everyone not just a few!

When they do the ramps they need to make sure that they have better traction because of the size of many boats and to keep vehicles from going Bloop Bloop Bloop.

The crew on these boats need classes as well. They need to learn how to throw the lines around the pilings to help dock the boat. Captain courses should be mandatory for boat owners and the Coast Guard Safety Course, too. With sooo many boats on the water, it is very important. Over loading on these boats is a major problem.

I'm 50 years old and been on boats my entire life. When I was 15 my dad would launch his boat and let me and my buddies take it out for the day. Back then you needed no sort of boaters course. Now if you were born after a certain year you must have a boaters course which I would have to assume is similar to getting your learners permit at 15 to drive a car. So, there will be a time when everyone on the water will have some sort of training and/or actual experience. I would assume if you fall into this age range you can not register a boat without this course just like you can't register a car without a DL. But you will always have law breakers just as with driving on the road. For now you have "old salts" like myself who know how to actually operate a boat then you have guys in their 30's or 40''s or older that buy their first boat and have no clue how to operate it and are not required by law to take a boaters course. Most of the "googan" activity you see here are these folks.

That tow boat doesn't cover the west coast ,I paid him when I bought my yachts and when I needed him ,it was a big let down,and no refund .what a rip off never trust that guy

A simple two-hour beginner's boating course teaches boaters about things like pivot center and helm position and would prevent 99% of the chittery at the ramp and out on the water. And Alfred would be outta bidniz Okay, that's a terrible suggestion!

I know ramp fails & whisky fuck ups are fun & funny but on this day. I made a quick u turn & docked in middle of a boat jam. & while I was docking there’s was another boat to my right trying to trailer there boat & some big white chick was upset & screaming at the guy. Making him & his family more nervous. Not cool

You said the RAM pick-up was a rental (formally?), so what would you have expected, careful and safe driving... I'd be surprised if it handled and/or ran well? ;-) At 11:10; watching this, I'm thinking, "how dangerous this is", the trailer is too deep, the first person being placed in the truck seems to have mobility issues (I know, to escape the rain), but what could happen if the truck slips off the ramp... frightening? At 12:30; I see the truck and boat I was concerned about is gone so they must have safely left the ramp... I'm glad everything went well. At 14:03; Ohhh... a bit of an editing slip, the boater I was concerned about, hasn't left yet... now their gone (17:55). All states with large (size?) marinas should require courses to get their boating license. Some of the canopy supports have so many tubes, I wonder if their custom made or ordered looking so busy... I'm guessing the answer is "yes"?
