Mordecai was horrible in the begining and the middle only in the end he at least he realised his mistakes and got better in the end

The flaw mordecai has is that he judges his success by comparing himself to others around him and feels sorry for himself when things dont go his way. When rigby was the fuck up, he felt good about himself. When rigby started doing great things, mordecai felt like a loser. This message really struck a cord with me. Later on in the series mordecai recognizes this and realizes that he has not changed for the better. Which is why the finale is so good. Mordecai didnt choose margret or cydney he finally was able to let go of them and finally was able to move on. Mordecai may seem like an asshole to some but for me, his character arc really made me take a deep look at myself.

I think the biggest karma is that Rigby starts to get a formal education, a serious girlfriend, respect, etc while Mordacai gets the opposite from people at the park, job, etc

Yeah we know Rigby wasn't a saint, but at least he grew up changed for the better, and got married to Eileen by the end of the series. Mordecai was in such a downward spiral that it's a miracle he still has friends, despite of how he acted in later seasons and got married to a bat girl named Steff, after that fumble with CJ.

Mordecai only gets hate because he's the only character that fights himself in his own head. Rigby goes with the flow and feels out his situation with his gut, Mordecai is petrified of rejection and juggles many different insecurities with himself. People hate Mordecai because they see their own flaws within him, i see the same thing, but I still love Mordecai

Not to defend Mordecai or anything, but I will say at least a couple things: 1. In the Punchies episode, I think that the point was that even though everyone was being an asshole to Rigby, he went way too far to try and get revenge on Mordecai and almost ended up killing them because of it. Again not defending Mordecai but I think the point is that both things they do are justified. I also think that the "point" of Mordecai was to be Rigby's "cooler, chiller" counterpart in their friendship, which is why a lot of things he says comes off as callous and inconsiderate towards someone who's supposed to be his friend. I think that at least earlier on in the show he wasn't supposed to be depicted to be as unlikeable as he is seen today, and that most of the episodes revolve around both of them creating or causing conflict for each other or for the whole park 🤷

I started to hated Mordecai in the episode when him and Skips (and then Rigby after he replace Skips for a "fake injurie") join into a videogame tournament: he refuse to take Rigby as partner and when our friend was understandly furious what that blue moron dude do ? he push him in front of everyone. The way Mordecai hurt CJ was pretty disgusting too: as if he rub on her face "yeah Margaret are better than you" and serves him right for toying with CJ (my favorite character from the cartoon and i love her voice actress too Linda Cardellini who i treat like some kind of spiritual mom)

The wedding was unforgivable you don't do that at your friends weeding no wonder Rigby has the better relationship then him

I think most people confuse their feelings about character's actions through a real world lens with the actual character writing, which is actually great for mordecai. in fact I applaud jg and the writers for writing such a nuanced character and weren't afraid to show his darker side while keeping it consistent throughout

I have thought of some other episodes where Mordecai was really a toxic friend to rigby. Trash boat: He couldn’t help rigby change his name back, instead he joined in the mockery and allowed him to suffer being a laughing stock until he realises that he is being hunted down. More Smarter: He kept ridiculing him for not having a High School diploma. Jinx: He kept messing around with him with this Jinx game, every time you speak you get punched, he seriously wouldn’t give him a break. Expert or Liar: He (well not just him but everyone except benson) laughed at him when he got humiliated on national tv. And there’s so much more episodes that I could mention and explain. I mean seriously with friends like mordecai who needs enemies.

Okay... in Mordecai's defense, Rigby has also screwed Mordecai is many situations as well, most of time when a screw up happens it's because of Rigby, remember that episode where Rigby was to lazy to clean up his own trash? or that episode where he screwed the park's taxes? or how about that episode where he wanted to fry to hot dogs? Mordecai had to fix his mess, and worst of all, Rigby is the reason why Mordecai didn't went to college, also Rigby is the one who kept agreeing to punchies, even tho, he never won before, he could have played a game of chance like a coin flip or rock paper scissors, I feel bad for CJ the most, because she is the kind of woman every man wants, a best friend and a girlfriend, he threw all that away...

Looking back on the show now in the current day, Mordecai was a terrible friend and really was the worst character of the main crew.

Mordecai’s hypocrisy almost cost him his friendship with Rigby and everyone else on the graduation day special. If it were me I would’ve said that to his face and tell him to get lost.

I really like Mordecai, he was and is my favorite character. But when I was rewatching the series, I really started to notice all these unpleasant things, especially I felt sorry for Rigby. Of course, Rigby causes a lot of problems himself, especially for Mordecai, but sometimes Mordecai's shitty actions themselves push his friend to make the wrong decisions.

Ngl. Other then Mordecai's love life. Mordecai is a really entertaining character, he is a ride or die personality most the time (as well as most of the cast tbh). Imo. Mordecai is a good character. Rigby is equally as horrible as Mordecai in their friendship in the early seasons. Cuz that was their schtick. Imo. Mordo gets unjust hate. Buuut. He def simps way too hard. But he gets better. He gets his character arc and grows as a person. Just like Rigby. Thats why Regular Show is a great show.

Aw man the job episode gave me flashbacks of my first pizza job. I would cover for my then-friend and most of the crew treated me like garbo, though he was getting into accidents consistently and I wasn’t. I wasn’t the fastest but another pizza place I worked never gave me grief for that.

I think it's clear the showrunners were aiming to give Mordecai a regressive character arc while giving the raccoon who we always thought was the worse slacker, Rigby, a progressive one. I don't think Mordecai is just a needlessly hateable character, I think it was intentioned to show how people go through changes for better and for worse, while life still moves on. By the end of the show he's with neither of his love interests and to him his younger days seem like a dream, not comprehending being that stupid and selfish again, signalling growth. Not that it excuses his actions but most of his character flaws came from a poor handling of life's problems, and it all happened when he was 23.

what makes it feel worse is that we only see him become a better person in the epilogue. I can say I wished there were more episodes wound the end that would show some growth at least.

The fact he acted like that at all shows he had his own stuff to deal with. No excuse to treat a friend like that, but that’s usually how people end up if they don’t deal with their problems. They become a Mordecai. I think the reason why I have a love/hate relationship with his character is because I’ve been that guy, but I also never wanna be that guy again. It would’ve been nice to see Mordecai take the the same path Rigby did. Who knows, maybe the point of their characters was to showcase the difference. But it’s just a cartoon and I didn’t write it so idk lmao

What makes this show so great is the realism of the characters. I know people just like Mordecai and Rigby. Mordecai isn’t perfect, he can be a piece of shit, but so can everyone else. And while his behavior is understandable, it isn’t acceptable. But that’s how real people are.

I also hate how Rigby's whole "Buttcheek One-Der" thing is thanks to a game of Punchies that left him Hospitalized(granted, it was either Skips or Muscle Man who did it, but still) yet Mordecai still bullies him over it, like imagine getting a whole chunk maimed out of your body and everyone treats it like a joke

That wedding episode was definitely a new low for mordecai. For the most part he's still one of my favorites in the show, but man was I so disappointed in him for that.

And these are, now my reasons why I don't like Mordecai but my main reasons why I don't like Mordecai now, is because he always bully and uses Rigby physically and get mad because Rigby has more game than Mordecai and he ruined his friend's wedding and made it about him. . .even embarrassed CJ. I am honestly surprised that Muscle Man didn't stop being friends with him. . .

Not me I've hated Rigby at the beginning but never really hated Mordecai

I wasn't a fan of Mordechai but idk why they just kept making him worse as the seasons went on. In the beginning he showed promise and was essentially the straight-man of the duo. Who made sure both him and Rigby did the right thing at the end. But eventually Mordechai became this emotional train wreck that needed his friends to put him back into a state where he was somewhat normal and tolerable.

Mordecai firmly established their friendship dynamic in the episode, More Smarter, that Rigby cannot be just as smart as he is because their friendship would not work. He's the smart one, and Rigby is just regulated to "and you're my friend"; "I have a diploma and you don't." So it wasn't surprisingly that Mordecai took absolute issue with Rigby not only graduating but seemingly turning his life around since he losing the only thing he can be better at.

While Mordecai and Rigby are both pretty bad, Rigby is actually decently better. Granted, Rigby had his moments, but given everything he’s gone through, he finally improved, and became a better character, and his love life is better than Mordecai’s.

At least Rigby got his revenge on both the punchies and Mordecai thinking super less of him after their height and arms were switched around. First thing the raccoon did was deciding to play punchies.

I agree Mordecai isn't the best character, but what a lot of fans dont realize is that he's also the most realistic character: As a person in my twenties, Mordecai is just a normal guy in his twenties. The behavior he exhibits: the bullying your friend, the fickle dating. The constant trying to find companionship and taking it both as seriously and harshly as he does. These are all things normal guys go through once you hit 21, and it generally lasts until you're about 25. He's not a likable character, but he's the most realistic.

Mordecai and Rigby have horrible moments throughout the show, but by the end of the series (space) both of them are very likeable, so any resentment that fans still have toward either of them is dumb. Also, as much as the "punchies" thing bothered me and felt like bullying, everyone in the park was guilty of doing that to Rigby, even Pops, and they all enjoyed it, so it wasn't just Mordecai being a jerk/bully in that regard, but he did it the most since they were closer to each other.

Every character has there flaws some bigger than others. I think they both had a toxic friendship because even if Mordecai didn’t support rigby and all. Rigby is the reason Mordecai works at the park by sabotaging his college acceptance letter. Real friends push each other to do better and some circles depend on both of you staying at the same level and if Mordecai succeeded they wouldn’t be friends either and thats just how life goes. This relationship depended on them being cool losers together .

I think the problem with Mordo is that he a cool dude to hang out with and fun which shines in the early seasons but things get deeper we see below the surface many bad qualities. Unlike Rigby who grows better over time, he stays the same. When you look outside of the fantasy lens he’s not as great as he seems

I think at the end of the day, none of the characters were perfect at all, showing how human they are despite the lack of looking like one. Rigby and Mordecai both had many flaws, and i really doubt that Mordecai is the sole person who sucks in this case , since without his brash and judging/bossy/smirky personality , rigby would go wild , whilst rigby keeps mordecai fun and engaging, pulling him out of his comfort zone . Hence why you can see how uncool mordecai can be without rigby around , sorta showing the reality that we also have friends that we have a blast with when theyre around, whilst we can be extremely immature and stupid when were alone and we dont know what to do . Thus , Mordecai is simply a dude who is young and wants to do better .

I'm just gonna say this. Both have been shitty to each other for a long time, primarily in their adulthood. But worst of all to start was Rigby with destroying Mordecai's future with the college acceptance letter. Rigby ruined his 'best friend's' future. At this point anything between them is square and Mordecai is in the right to hold things over Rigby's head since he does find this out in season 4/5 iirc? Muscle Man is the exception but that's a different story, so is CJ's volatile nature to blow everything out of proportion all the time since the start. Particularly the episode when Margaret comes back and Mordecai is in the helicopter with her

Mordecai’s biggest problem is that he’s used to being “better” and secretly competing / comparing himself to Rigby while Rigby was simply just happy to be around Mordecai and spend time with him, once Rigby started to change for the better and reach his goal of graduating high school Mordecai’s self insecurity started to show and he started to act real weird a disrespectful on Rigby’s graduation day, also Mordecai once said “i’m the smart one and your my friend (aka your the dumb one) our friendship wouldn’t work if we were both smart” he really felt that way also notice how Rigby is way more influential and selfless than Mordecai, don’t get me wrong Rigby can be total scum and alot of the times even worse than Mordecai but Rigby never faked who he was rather it was good or bad while Mordecai often did, while Mordecai was more popular with people Rigby was always more true to himself which led Rigby to grow and mature faster while it took Mordecai a bit longer to do so fully, Rigby is very helpful to everyone as well but mostly Mordecai sense he’s his best friend, during the “expert or liar” episode Benson points out how Rigby has helped every single last one of them with their problems (except maybe Skips) and that they should help him out for once, although both of them were scummy in their own ways and were both late bloomers in the maturity department they both developed wonderfully by the end of the show

Mordecai late series was bad mordecai when a girl involved is bad I won’t deny that but let’s not act like early rigby was not a terrible friend and brought a lot of what happens upon his the punchies episode what was rigby beating mordecai at. Purposely flirting with Margret knowing how mordecai felt about her and rubbing it in his face every chance we got. And we’re going to pretend that rigby is the reason why mordecai was even at the park after writing a fake rejection letter because he didn’t want mordecai to leave him alone. Mordecai isn’t the only one that picked on rigby at the park but mordecai is the only one that gets the hate for it forgetting that mordecai constantly had to fix rigby’s messes

How come on Netflix there are only 3 seasons?

As the series progressed I went from hating Muscle Man to hating Mordecai. Season 1 Mordecai had faults and it would irk me here and there but it’s once the series became Relationship heavy that we see how much he sucks. Definitely what did it for me was the Wedding High Jack

that's what makes Mordecai my favorite character, he's a flawed person which makes him realistic. he's not a pure good 2-dimensional character that you'd see in the 90s-2000s CN or Disney characters. Rigby is also a very flawed person but nonetheless is a good friend and that goes for the rest of the cast aside from Pops cause lets be honest pops was a golden-hearted person

Mordecai and Rigby are the most flawed characters in Regular Show which is ironic considering they are the main characters in the show.

Mordecai may not be a perfect person but the character will always be beloved. He's flawed yes but that's okay because that's how we relate to him. The ending shows that just because Mordecai never been with either CJ or Margaret doesn't mean he'll never find love.

It's true Mordecai can be a really bad and unreliable friend but Rigby has his flaws as it has been shown throughout the show that between the two Rigby is the most immature between the two and this behavior exhibited from Rigby seemed to be holding Mordecai back and this statement is back by the fact that in the movie we can see Rigby digging through Mordecais mail and swapping their college application letters as which Mordecai got accepted and Rigby got denied so now Mordecais future is ruined because Rigby could not let go of Mordecai so although Mordecai was Unaware of this I believe Mordecais behavior at Rigbys graduation is justified but all in all their relationship has its pros and cons but in the end they seem to learn from their experiences and grow closer as a result

Rigby not only ruined Mordecai's life by forging a rejection letter from his fucking college, he was also a petty little shit for 80% of the show. Sure, his character development was great, but giving Mordecai flak for being a simp is insane, when Rigby was easily a MUCH worse friend that Mordecai ever was. HE MADE MORDECAI SHIT ON THE FLOOR IN FRONT OF HIS CRUSH, ALSO RUINING HIS CHANCES WITH MARGRET THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRETY OF THE DATE because Rigby didn't want to accompany him. What the fuck??? Sure, Mordecai KILLED Rigby, but I guess people like to bring that up after forgetting that Rigby wanted a watch a movie, got turned down, and then proceeded to ask out his crush knowing full well how much Mordecai likes her. He's a sack of shit and nothing can change my mind. The final two seasons saved his ass.

It’s crazy, regarding the relationship stuff, CJ was literally the best girl for Mordo, she liked things he liked, she could banter well with everyone at the park, and could hold her own on the weird adventures the guys got into, yeah she had a bit of a temper but she wanted to communicate things after calming down, she easily could’ve just stayed mad and not talk to Mordecai, but she didn’t, Margaret was bland, she didn’t really have much going for her as a character, and I get that Mordo ended up with just a random lady we never knew anything about, how in life, people we want to see ourselves with may not be who we end up with in the end, it’s just not how life works, but at the same time, CJ had so many things that were good for Mordecai and yet he screwed it all up because he “didn’t know who his soulmate was” :/

I believe the reason Mordecai doesn't really grow or face consequences is because he's the closest thing to a self-insert J G Quintel had in the show, and when you deal with self-inserts sometimes the writers or director will genuinely not realize when their character is in the wrong. At least, that's how I interpret it.

Watching the show again Mordecai was a moron. Everyone hated on Margaret for leading him on when she kept giving hints she wanted to be with him. He was a dirtball friend a lot to Rigby.

Mordecai good character on the outside, bad character on the inside. Rigby bad character on the outside, good on the inside. Eventually their insides truly showed of on the outside. They both did bad stuff but had different reasons for it.
