I appreciate your hard work preparing these videos mate. Just a note: I believe you have just reduced the harmonics of the sound in your first tip. With so high Q and boost values while seeking resonant freqs, the eq almost self oscillates and the root frequency and the harmonics may sound like resonance when they are not. I would recomend to use tip 1 to push a sound backwards or to get rid of room resonances or bad/clashing frequencies in recordings.

Reducing over boosting with an EQ is actually psychologically superior, whereas we are used to hearing cuts and reductions in sounds EVERY DAY in our lives, from walls and buildings, to cars and trees - almost everything is being reduced in nature, so it sounds more natural. You want to add more body to something or make a sound brighter? Distortion, upwards expansion, basically ANYTHING thats not an EQ boost.

Your tips helped this veteran engineer. Very crucial tips for producers and engineers. This can help thousands clean up their tracks because the engineer can only do so much to the stems you give them. The better quality stems equals a better quality mix overall and also gives room for the engineer to put some icing on the cake. Thank you for taking the time to make a video on this subject. Much appreciated!

When you boost the q and check for résonances, everything’s resonates .. it is a way of really destroying sounds. You really need to do this if it’s something popping and noticeable without the technique of swiping the hole spectrum

the "resonances" that you reduced in your bass synths were its formants. or in other words: those are not harsh resonances. edit: what?? you are one of those "don't boost the eq"-guys? damn, that's pretty low level. because actually when you boosted the highend of the synth it did sound better, but you have overdone it a bit. boosts are just as good as dips.
