@@NomNomGirl1except that that’s not true at all, we’ve seen time and time again these brands using cheap products and slave labor to make their pieces, but no one who actually buys them cares….
But that isn't really true. You are thinking about quality products, which has nothing to do with high fashion at all. Though some high fashion makes use of quality products. Quality products are not much more expensive than regular products. You can get quality leather shoes tailor made for a few hundred bucks that will last a lifetime if you get them serviced every three to five years depending on how rigorously you use them. For that price you have about what's needed to be allowed to take out a loan to buy some cheap "high fashion" shoes. Not even talking about how high fashion shoes, especially for women don't tend to be made durable enough to survive any real amount of service visits.
Luxury brands weren’t really invented for the wealthy. It’s for those who want to look wealthy. They realized a long time ago that there is more money to be made that way.
Rich people aren't exactly wearing Primark t-shirts. Rich people still buy luxury brands, it's just that their clothes don't scream "THIS T-SHIRT IS FROM [luxury brand name here]". A rich person will buy a plain white t-shirt with no logo but it'll be worth $150.
@@garfleguy well that depends on the amount of money but yea, if youre elon musk rich you might aswell have a tailor take your measurements and make perfect fitting clothes for you
Cheap stuff is always cheap quality, medium price things are always decent quality, but expensive things can be any quality and often pass the price even something high quality would deserve
I respect the hell out of the fact that they didn't try to force this to be about how great they are and were willing to be critical of the industry. Hell yeah I'll pay twenty bucks
@@Qualicabyss Some cheap stuff isn't cheap quality but people expect it to be because they are so used to how much other stuff is marked up. One area where this is super evident is hand tools. Unless they are just made out of a pot metal or something a 5 dollar wrench is going to work just as well and last just as long as a 50 dollar one that says "snap on" on the handle. It is an inert hunk of metal.
To Trust in God Is to Give it all to him, when things seem as if they arent the best It doesnt mean the outcome will End that way. God has Good plans for you, Plans a future, and hope Jeremiah 24:11
I think it was a newly minted professional soccer player who said that he and his wife bought a new large house. He told his wife to go to IKEA and buy some furnishings. Someone told him that rich people don't shop at IKEA. He replied "That may be true, but smart people do"!
I’ve seen that interview. I shop at IKEA and love their products. I see the same stuff at overpriced boutiques and laugh out loud at the ridiculous prices there. 😂😂
Shaquille O'Neal once spoke about spending around $70,000 in a Walmart, equipping all his new rooms in a new house a few years ago. Apparently his bank or card company contacted him thinking it was a mistake or fraud, because of what store it was lol.
@@HI-lq4vlI disagree. Some of it is basic starter stuff, but I have Ikea furniture that has been in my house (with 3 kids) for 15-18 years now. I also have furniture store furniture that carried a much heavier price tag that didn't last half as well.
@@Omnihilooh I feel you there yeah as 6 foot women Payless was really good store. Right there with Kohl’s (if kohl’s goes out business I be protesting) they are only place where they sell tall jeans for tall girls like us
They proved that influences are really easy to influence because they realistically are not knowledgeable in their fields. They care more about making content then what is their content.
honestly, just proves that most ppl buy luxury items for the brand name, not the actual product. you could get the same shirt from walmart or gucci and the only difference would be the price tag and logo
Quality of gucci shirt > Walmart shirt, but for the price difference it’s not much of a difference besides branding a bit of quality, and I mean designs are different but you don’t need to spend $100’s for a good shirt
They were not humiliated. They are influencers and shilling useless garbage is part of their daily life. They always say whatever gets them money and access. its like tricking a hooker into thinking you are handsome or rich.
2013 walked into my local Payless for sandals to wear home from my pedicure. Paid $5. Went back the next day for 2 more pairs at 2 for $7. Different colors. I still have them 11 years later.
@@goldyguns9545 Yeah the only footwear I own that had lasted several years was a pair of Adidas slides and they only lasted that long because the whole slipper was a single piece of rubber and therefor had no stitching or glue joints anywhere or any interlocking pieces like flip flops which can fail without breaking when the strap separates from the holes in the sole and is an absolute pain to reinsert without damaging the slipper. I only retired them because there is a big etched and a painted Adidas logo on top (black rubber slippers with bright white stripes) that was heavily faded and the dye on the rubber was also slightly discoloured and I was told it makes me look like a homeless cheapskate. I sill have those slippers and intend to keep them as a spare pair just in case I need them for something. They also were not that expensive either I got a multibuy offer and I think it was 2 for £25 which is less than $30 and I gave a pair (blue slipper with same white logo) to my brother but his pairs are in much better condition and I only stopped wearing mine a little over a year ago and I got them in like 2015/16
That may be true for shoes bought that long ago, when manufacturers still made quality products. But not today. Today, most products are made to only last for maybe a year, if that.
Always remember: money is fake Quality doesn't equal cost. It's just how much someone's willing to pay. Edit: when I say money is fake, I'm using hyperbole. From what I watch/ read, calling a social construct fake is a common hyperbole.
So is almost literally anything? The concept of time, education, marriage, social class, etc. These are things that don't hold inherent value but only exist because people think they exist.
Its wild like my sister and I both did some fabric making courses in university and the feel and look of quality material and sewing is very apparent. It makes me wonder how many trenders actually touch the clothes they wear and care about it or if its just something to pose in.
Proves most people like influencers are complete idiots that will spend anything just because someone says so. They care nothing for real quality, just claut.
Exactly. All these people immediately point the finger at “omg high fashion bad” “luxury brand pretentious” but it’s actually just how stupid these shein consuming influencers are. Luxury brands have taken a huge dip in quality past couple years 100%, but that’s only because they realized idiots like this will just buy anything with their name slapped on it. And why is everyone into fashion now? why does everyone know about all these then-niche fashion brands? social media influencers lol
@@13days13 eh most people I know where I live still make their own clothes with either store bought fabric or some fabric they made or found laying around the village. Even in the big cities some people still make their own clothing either for day-to-day dress or for fashion shows to show off their skills. A lot of people are starting to get into or come back into arts n crafts, and music side of things where i live, which is very nice and refreshing to see. Very resilient people here.
Everyone knows they're not paying for better quality or anything that justifies a ridiculously high price tag, they're paying for the brand name and to show everyone else how rich they are 🙄 But they're also showing everyone how gullible and dumb they are too 😂
The idea is that luxury brands inflate their prices too much, but it can be seen as "This cheap store has quality shoes that other companies sell by a lot more"
I really doubt they had knowledge of a quality item. I usually buy clothes in thriftstore with disregard of the label. Material knowledge is not universal.
what i found out is.... buying expensive shoes from a budget brand is actually the sweet spot. shoes are good and hold at least 4-5 years if spend around 60€ . but if you buy the same 20€ from that brand or even China , the shoes can wear out in less than 2 years and might be unconformable too.
Branding is one of the main reasons things cost so much. If we didn't focus so much on appearance we could actually get great products without having to spend a fortune.
@@JoshuaTootell Yeah most of rich people become rich after inheritance... It's same like Trump my father give me a small loan of 1 million dollars...Dude what the fu ck since when 1 million dollar are small loan😅
@@mrboast2826 Almost all lottery winners end up in debt after a few years. Trump turned a measly 1 mill into a billion, if everyone could do that, we would have a LOT more billionaires.
I don't get the hype about wanting expensive shoes, clothes, bags, ect. it's pointless and there is no reason for it. People give things away for free and you can buy the same product(s) for less.
I didn't get it at first, but there's 2 things at least that i realized why luxury things are sought of. 1. You want the brand perception power of this items. If people know you possess expensive items, they will think you're accomplished or powerful person. Because these items are sort of "membership ID" of powerful class. The door to exclusive circle of power might be opened to you. 2. You want the personal satisfaction by buying "high quality" items. Even though most brands lies, your brain can't comprehend such lies, due to the powerful marketing the brands have. it is easier for your brain to accept that they're high quality, than the possibility that it's all a massive fraud. Plus, buying expensive stuff stroke your ego, felt like you are invincible and above the clouds. It gives you false sense of guarantee.
Apple already does this since 2012 brother..While other phone have strongest chip,Can fold triple and other innovations but people still prefer iPhone because how they advertise their products as luxurious item..
My coworker once told me that she spent $200 on a pair of shoes, I didn't even bother to ask what brand they were or anything like that because i knew it was a waste of money anyway
Indeed it depends. I spend 300,- € on a pair of Boots that were hand-made to my measurements, very good soles, thick leather, 10 year warranty with daily use. Also i got another pair for 50,- which i ended up using much more because i feel bad about using the expensive pair 😅
they are in the US too, at least they were in the 80s/90s. It was always so disappointing when mom said we were getting new shoes and then we went to payless.
This was really good, but too late to save Payless which is sad. I remember my designer shoes I had just bought recently broke while I was at a mall and I had to buy some 20 dollar shoes from Payless. Those shoes lasted yearssss. Payless quality did go down so much, but their shoes were still on par with these pos designer shoes that sell the same shoes at luxury prices. Real rich/wealthy don't wear any of it and are paid and given these products for marketing. The things they actually wear aren't even offered to the general public as exclusivity is what that type wants.
The whole point of luxury products is to show off that you can afford them, it was never about the quality. As long as the quality is reasonable you just have to convince people it's expensive.
So many people get duped into buying stuff just because there's a logo and a price on it. They're such suckers. A real designer can spot high end materials and finishes a mile away
