Solognac is more of a line of product Decathlon has invented to guide the customers in the right section of the shop. Like "forclaz" is the hiking line, all of the fishing goods are sold under the name Caperlan .. and depending on the region you also have the scuba gear, the boating, skiing, golfing , running lines...
Certainly their store brand, good post. I am am interested in how much of Solognac is made in France as my half wool baseball cap is made in China. I saved 1/2 pound of weight by cutting off the 10 tags. lol
@@DenisSolaro Thank you, I was not big on the store at first because they had no brand names I have hiked with. However the hunting stuff gets good reviews. I got the France thing from a RU-vidr, but Solognac is region in France so maybe that is why they thought that. Heading back to day to make my selection.
You call these pants better than Fjallraven- at least Fjallraven has pockets on both sides and 8 belt loops! I guess you should have waited until they made changes. Just another someone trying to promote someones garbage pants.
Been a Decathlon customer since the early 2000s in the UK, nearly all of their items across their entire range offer amazing workmanship and durability at levels well above the affordable price point. Their winter fleece lined hunting pants could have an extra zero on the price and still be amazing value.
Not too keen on their tents though, they tent to be bulky, heavy, impractical. But they mostly sell camping tents, disposable tents used for an event or two. Also their cooking ware doesn't integrate well. like among hiking brands you often find standards" a 9cm titanium mug will take any 100gr gaz canister or a wide nalgene bottle. Decath stuff doesn't fit into other gear or even their own stuff.
I basically use a mix of Solognac, Arktis, Snugpak, Helikon and issue surplus for hiking, wilding and bushcraft. I'm new to Solognac but these trousers are absolutely diamond and I'll definitely check out some more of their kit.
As a Swede, I grew up with Fjällräven. My first real hiking pants lasted 12 years before they needed to be replaced, so great. But the next pair lasted only 4 years, and the last ones I got had holes in them and broken zippers already in the first year! So sad that they destroyed there brand and I will never buy them again so here Im looking for a new brand for my next pair that hopefully will last me many years again.
As a non Swede I grew up with/in Sweden and with/in Fjallräven. Fjallräven used to be e great brand, just like Sweden used to be a great country. It hurts so bad, I'm so sorry. Unfortunately Sweden never will be the same again, it's even worse then in The Netherlands.
I mean... I have the same old pair of pants from fjallraven and it's still going strong. I have reached the peak of mt olympus (2917m), psiloritis (2456m) and gigilos (2080m) all in winter and all in these pants i bought for 150€ two years ago. I also have walked ~20km from the mountains to the sea and even did some camping around the mountains. The g1000 material is underrated and can be used in Sommer and winter very effectively. Its also good to know that fjallraven makes its pants with recycled polyester and organic cotton and without the use of pvc's. So you cant argue that they don't make a good effort to protect the environment that we're all enjoying.
I have also good experience with härkila. They have a wide selection of clothing from tropical to arctic. Really useful for greece, where the summers are hot and winter in the mountains is cold and wet. Tbh military surplus is cheap and covers most needs but sometimes you have to treat yourself with something made in the Nordic countries.
I've got (I believe) the 900 series pants and so far I like them. I have found three things I'd recommend to Solognac though. 1-bigger belt loops, they're really tight on a 1.5" belt and I can even use 1.75" or even thicker 1.5" gun belts (not even the fairly thin "inner" velcro kind) 2-the fly doesn't go down far enough towards the inseam to pee without having the pants trying to pinch off flow 3-some small pockets on the back would be nice for bandannas or slim wallets
I've got two pairs of these and they're just brilliant. If I'm off on a long plod they're light enough and compress down enough to shove a spare pair in your bergen without taking up much space or adding much weight. I do like the vents at the rear of the knees too. Overall, the best outdoor trousers I've ever had, especially for the price. Great video, mate.
I´m a hunter from Germany... Not many of us German hunters know about this company.. But i ordered a lot of them.. Mostly t-shirts for around 2,-$. They don´t wear out, twist in shape or where shorter by washing to hot. Good products for a good price.
I know the Solognac brand well. I've purchased numerous items of their clothing including their trousers. I also have two different pairs of Fjallraven trousers and in my honest opinion Fjallraven are definitely better quality.
Picked up a pair of Wrangler outdoor pants at a local Walmart for $20 extremely robust, breathable and lightweight. Pockets are a lil lacking but comfort is insane.
I agree, the Solonac stuff is quite decent for the price. I got winter hunting trousers two winters ago with fleece insulation and they are still just fine. However, Solonac trousers are all missing pockets in a practical larger size and quantity. Hunting needs are almost the same as tactical and I do really miss pockets on the upper legs.
well said man, solognac cant be beaten on value for money and quality, ive had 4 pairs of solognacs and ive worn three of them to threadbare around the crotch basically over the last 3-4 year. i.e nearly every outdoor excursion atleast 60-80 times a year extensive hiking, wading, riding, wildcampng fishing... ive got em on and they never let me down. in times where i may of tore an area of fabric which wasnt reinforced id just stitch them up with thick thread and keep on going in them. unfortunately ive gotten to the point now where ive outgrew these amazing pants and so its time to go down to my local decathlon and pick up some new strides. ive noticed aswell since i purchased the original pants solognac have continued to come out with new designs and material combos of clothing all in classic neutral natural colours browns greens and greys... even to my surprise have started using breathable waterproof brushed tricot polyester which is super waterproof with good laminate membranes but also non reflective and silent in movement compared to some binbag esque waterproofs. Not to mention they look to have dabbled in the use of wool in their clothing which has impressed me exceedingly cause us bushcrafters should all know.... wool cannot be beaten for all round benefits. nice straight to the point video dude liked and subbed keep up the good work
@Steve-yx7zc tbh buddy, I live in Europe and I only buy fjallraven and Lundhags for my hiking pants and there's a simple reason for this, they last forever. I have a pair of fjallraven pants that are 20 years old, no kidding. I also only buy them when they are heavily reduced, so my last pair were £79 divided into 20 years, that's a cheap pair of pants. But I agree with you, buy homemade if you can I would always support local businesses if possible but, it's getting harder.
@Steve-yx7zc we are all slaves now with inflation the way it is. In all fairness the fjallraven factory looks incredibly nice and they are very ethical as a company. The problem is the pants you buy made in the USA may use fabric that's made in China, who knows? There have even been stories of slave labour in our own countries. It's a messed up world.
@@marclang7431he mentioned Origin, which their boots source everything but the midsole from inside the USA. No US companies manufacture a midsole, but they are trying to change that. You'd have to do a lot of research unfortunately, a regulated tag would be nice for "made in America" claims.
@@Frindleeguy yes I was talking hypothetically about 'made in USA' or anywhere else for that matter. The most impressed I have been in this regard was with my Echo chainsaw, it has a label that says 'made in Japan using Japanese parts'. Now that's what we need to see, where do the materials come from, not just where they are made.
How does one find pants that fit when decathlon only asks for a "hip size" I could understand this for maternity clothes in colombia but...what in the actual..
511 tactical i have been wearing the one pair for 15 years. I bought 2 more about 10 years ago. I just tossed the old ones out, and got a new pair. Camouflage geo something something. Been liking these now, might get another pair.. im a big guy so im picky about pants.
I usually luck out at my local thrift store and find “ husky” sized 5.11 trousers for about $10 Cdn. A pair. Usually, EMT pants but assorted other variants.
I love Decathlon and have definitely picked up a few things from them. My only problem is I’m 6’5” 240# so finding a good fit is difficult to say the least. Thanks for the video Randall.
I have a pair of fjallraven vidda pros and a jacket and I love them. With that said they’re ridiculously expensive and I picked them up on sale. Revolution Race is another brand I’ve used and like but have heard mixed reviews on. I believe they’re both made in Vietnam. I’d love to support an American company if anyone knows of a few?
The French measurement method quite sucks if you are taller and not fat, they should make "long" sizes as you have in the States or use the German style of making clothes. In order to get long pants or long sleeves, if you size up, the difference in width is quite significant, that's my only complaint with Decathlon and I am using their stuff for more than 10 years or so.
Decathlon's sizing system is completely broken as the standard changes from one item to an other. It's so bad that the same t-shirt of the same XL size can fit differently if you tried one color or an other. that's because they were made in different Chinese factory with different specs, for a different price. I always try the things on me at the shop and rarely trust the size they display.n
Decathlon is a Chinese supplied store. Solognac is Chinese aswell but Solognac has good Quality i own several clothing pieces of them and they lasted till this day 3-4 years. Their T-Shirts are solid and dont cost more than 5 bucks what it should be like. For the Rest i dont recommend any Decathlon products except from this brand.
The Chinese are resourceful. I had a product that said. "Made As In Sweden" The more the Chinese take over, the fewer alternatives we get and the quality is sometimes laughable. I use the Swedish army trousers model 1959. There is nothing that can compete with these. The pants have been used by a conscript's army for 30 years, and now I have them. They can get hot if the weather is really hot, but then you fold them up and open the fly. There is a Chinese copy of the M59, do I really need to tell you not to buy these?
Greetings from Greece!I got these pants and the Forclaz pants based on your recommendations! For hot weather they rock! My only complaint is that they both are really tight on my thighs (the Forclaz pants are tighter) even though I got one size up but both are really loose on my waist.. Not the best fit I would say..
I have several Decathlon and Solognac products. My only issue is sizing and fulfillment. They are a great company as far as being responsive with exchanges but not so good with sizing and inventory management. I should wear a large per their guide, order large and it is a 30 inch waist, order an XL replacement and it is a 36 inch waist. The other problem is getting something similar to what you ordered but not the actual thing you ordered. I think it is due to a lack of investment in the US. Again, one of the easiest companies to deal with, they happily sent me 3 of the wrong item and just told me to donate them if I didn't want them. Hopefully it's gotten better in the last couple of years and they stock more products in quantity and variety.
Used a pair of the Decathlon cycling pants, I think they were supposed to be for mountain biking for most winter non snow outdoors stuff for years. Had most of the same reenforcement patches and they took a beating. Dried quickly too. Really like their waterproof coats and jackets, had more expensive brands and they're better than many of them.
DUDE… Did someone at Fjallraven make you mad? Lol They’re definitely not Chinese made and there’s no way in hell you can compare a $15 pant to their $200 pants that I currently own multiple pairs of. They are by FAR the best pants I’ve ever found to wear in the woods. PERIOD! There’s absolutely nothing I’ve found that compares.
Maybe you can learn about Gash hao, a niche and cost-effective brand, I have 4 pairs of their pants and they are an irreplaceable presence in my hiking list!
Those are the pants bear grylls used to wear I think they. All the reinforcing points are in the same place. Dude that’s funny your exactly the same size as I am . But anyway great channel. Take care.
one of the best all around brands i recommend for quality clothing is engelbert strauss it is a Germen work ware brand and for anything i do in rough conditions i have never ben disappointed
I have 6 different pairs of The Solognac range in trousers for use across the seasons. From winter warm trousers to light weight breathable for summer. The price / quality / functionality ratio is right in the sweet spot. Outstanding. My go to brand for outdoor / woods clothing
Tru-spec made some expedition pants I wore on a winter alpine hike and they were awesome. They even have a little clip on the bottom to latch onto your boot laces so they don't ride up while you're in deep snow. Check em out, you might like em
Dude! I wear Tri spec pants everyday. 3 pairs are around 10 years old. They are their tactical ones but I love ‘em. The older ones were a little better. Had a place you could cut foam and insert knee pads. Each side pocket held two mags and had this thing that came out and you could put more gear in and put it back in your pocket. 20$ a pair.
I use the hiking pants from Decathlon but never tried the hunting ones. Used to have a pair of the none Spandex cycling pants (mountain biking ones?)from them and used them pretty much the way you used the hunting ones for years till they fell to pieces. Got way more than my monies worth from them.
F it! I deleted my plan to get a full set of their clothes. It is all made in India cotton. No France, no nylon. They did have the P100 potato chip bag noise jackets but no matching pants. WTF?
A friend of mine was asking me just yesterday for advise on buying a pair of reinforced hiking trousers, something not Fjällräven expensive and light. Is he going to appreciate your video :-)
Dude...when you talked about these several years ago I tried to get a pair, but Decathlon was very unclear of sizing. Would still love to get a pair. Anyone out there that can tell me what'll fit a 38/34 I'll make a purchase. Way to sell these, bud!!
Why are all the outdoorpants aren't spark proof? When the spark fly out of the campfire they destroy every modern outdoorpant. And campfire are not made so seldom in outdoor activities!!
I liked your video untill u said about putting pockets on the front of the legs, 😂 I absolutely hate pockets there, anything that's in them pockets ends up diging into your leg, especially if you have to say walk up a steep hill. Nice video tho
Garbage. They look soft and weak, like something an urbanite would wear into the bush. Real men wear thick canvas or wool. God made those materials and man has yet to improve on them.
Awesome video. I am curious 🧐. You shot the video from the waist up, while holding a pair of pants? Enquiring mind begs to ask…Did you go “Donald Duck 🦆 “ to film 🎥 this? If so, is there any B roll available on your fans only page 😅😂🤣🥲. Cheers 🍻, take care and stay frosty.🌲🐿🇨🇦🏕🇺🇸🦫🌲
Yo blogger Getta rights pockets cheap small and not happening for serious wilderness ezthugs but hayah ty good job 👍 Hustler France trying Tuesday night with hunters moons good ty.
