I just started playing this past year and have spent hundreds of hours scouring RU-vid to develop a comprehensive "checklist" of each portion/section of the throw and this is exactly what I have been looking for summed up in one video.
Great video, especially like the points about avoiding over rotating in the end. Not many people talk how stopping (slowing) the shoulder rotation in the end is important to allow hand to whip properly. Just wish you put more of your throws in the vid, preferably slow mo as well. Always fun to see some good rips.
We might just be similar size/shape but your form tips have really helped me a lot. I use a lot of the same queues and thoughts when throwing. I recently crossed 400 and am on my way to 450!
You're the first person I've heard explain how and why a front loaded grip is important. I used to keep my index finger on the outside of the disc for "accuracy". Changed it a while back because everyone says that this way is better but now I actually understand why thanks!
Your last form video helped a ton! Making these small changes have legitimately added almost 50 feet of distance to my golf throw, while feeling much *easier* on the body. Thanks for your efforts in making these videos!
Very good sum up. You explained well and understandable. I liked all the parts about preserving the built up energi and not losing it through the motion.
That fact that you ended this video with the importance of athleticism being paramount is a hard truth many disc golfers don’t want to hear, especially the older guys. This and the lack of easy access to quality trainers is the main source of injury in our sport.
I find it hard to get a nose down grip with a front loaded power grip. I've found back loading the grip makes it easier to point the nose down. Any tip on that?
I say go with the back loaded grip. Front loaded helped me throw further, but if you cant get the disc nose down with a front loaded grip, I'd just do what is most comfortable to you.
I saw an increase in power and spin after watching Zach Nash video on overthrow disc golf channel. No more front load for me, never felt right. Zach back loads and doesn’t even pinch disc completely with index and shows STOOPID spin rate and speed with smooth form and backloaded grip.
@@julianseyal This is correct. The biggest factor I can recall is that he keeps his elbow out (and up) as much as possible and his throwing shoulder out (and down), so his arm positioning and movement make the most of his leverages.
@@EricGross-b3k nice, yeah I think it just depends what positions you get your body in to accommodate for “poor form” or compensate nose angles etc etc
Love your stuff TT. Keep it up and good luck out there. I feel like the coaching has been trending towards a backloaded grip. And it's helped my paltry RHBH in the last couple months. Would love to hear more about how front loading works for you and others here too.
You are the ONLY youtuber that suggests you have to conciously throw the arm back out. Everyone else makes it seem like that last part of throwing the arm is unconcious because you did everything ahead of it correctly. If i dont think about it i unfurl like a damn fruit roll up not a powerful fulcrum
