I wasn't excited for Prince of Persia either, then I played the demo and noticed there was a farsi dub. As an Iranian, I couldn't believe it. One of the only times I've ever been truly emotional when loading up a game. Since Iran (Persia) these days is seen in such a negative light, the world doesn't know about our ancient history and mythology. I highly, highly recommend everyone playing through with the farsi dub, as it's so well done. Major props to those who made this game!
I've got to say it's great seeing a bit more love for Prince of Persia the Lost Crown out there. I think it's a really strong return for the series and the perfect direction to take it in (especially given the studio that produced it). The HCG stamp of approval just confirms it even further!
It’s awesome to see the channel grow mate 👍🏻 I’ve been a subscriber for a long time and I always tell people to watch you. Always very genuine and a true gamer.
Infinite wealth is phenomenal. I'm looking at the achievements and I'm deep in the game and it's like 25% of players already got this obscure achievement . It's amazing how dedicated the fan bases for this game.
So sorry about your mom ❤. Games are powerful. Similarly Elden Ring released when I went through a divorce and it will forever hold a special place for me - kept me sane and gave me purpose every day. Better than therapy. Great review.
I'm embarrassed to admit, but after having it sit in my backlog since it launched on the Switch, I've finally fired up Persona 5 Royal. It's my first foray into the Persona franchise and I absolutely cannot get enough of this game. What was I doing letting it sit on a shelf for so long! So not exactly new but new to me. I can't wait to get stuck into 4 and 3 next.
Same here I avoided that game for quite a while now I've beat it 7 times I wouldn't go back to high-school if someone paid me but this game is too good you can't help but love every aspect of it.
I just put 80+ hours into Persona 4, which was my first Persona game, SMTV being the only other game I've played in the Megami Tensei universe. Needless to say, I have become a huge fan of both franchises and will be exploring more games from each series in the very near future.
@butterworthboys4985 I thought 4 was really good too I beat 3 and 4 originally when they re-released a couple years ago on my ps4. I thought 4 was better than 3. Just started this re-release of persona 3 but sidelined it for TLOU2 ON PS5 revamp. One of my many other faves. Never hear Johnny talk about last of us games. Wonder why?
Same only difference is I've been playing Persona games since 2007. I bought Royal on Black Friday 2020, but was busy for technical college the last few years and didn't have time for a 100 hour game. Finally starting to catch up with the backlog.
I bought Persona 4 Golden a few days ago, I got a bit disappointed because of all the social dialogue.I bet there will be more gameplay as I progress, though.
I’ve been playing Grandia 2 on my Dreamcast! I just got an hdmi adaptor as well for the Dreamcast. It’s a beautiful experience so far I’m about 20 hrs in.
It truly has been Japanuary - JRPG madness! I've had my eye on Granblue Fantasy Relink but trying to budget very tightly this year. Loving Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth so far!
Granblue Fantasy Relink has tutorials well into post game. Grinding, farming mats, leveling practically everything is so up my alley I'm completely and utterly satisfied. A game many of us followed the development for years, extremely happy how it turned out .
I play Ys 8 again. First time i played cause of Johnny's recommendation, now i do cause I just love it ;) Although it's not a perfect game, it is pure adventure in an astonishing environment. It simply brings calm, warm joy to me.
I'm playing Banishers Ghost of New Eden and really enjoying it, I usually skip all dialogues in my games but this story actually gripped me also love the voice acting of all the characters in this game.
Did you see that they ported Ys 1 to the Nintendo Switch recently? I’ve been playing Tiny Rogues! Highly recommend it! I have over 200 hours, it’s one of the best indies I’ve played.
This year is going to be great for me. Granblue Fantasy, Helldivers 2, Dragon's dogma 2 , star wars outlaws and Ys 10 . Plus who knows what else will be released.
So glad you got Granblue Fantasy Relink Johnny! It's easily one of my most favourite games of 2024 so far. Also, you should check out a game called Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. I reckon it's totally up your alley.
Infinite wealth is seriously top 5 JRPGs ever made! The fact that persona 3 reload and infinite wealth came out back to back has taken all my free time away! Two hundred hour games in a row but they are both so good!
I have to admit, I never liked the idea of walking around, and brawling with people in what felt like an RPG battle, but with the RPG combat, Like A Dragon nailed it. Plus Ichiban and crew are so loveable that you can't hate them. Loved the english dub as well. Thought it was phenomenal! Cant wait to pick up Infinite Wealth.
You said 4 magic words. You said this game is ‘a brother to Y’s’ and as soon as you said that I went straight to Amazon and ordered my copy. I have never played a Granblue game but those 4 words flipped my gaming switch. You need commission on selling Johnny because you sold me buying this game 👍👍👍
Huge fan of yours john. Im quite a bit younger than you. But thought of your show the other day, i played and finished U.N squadron on an original arcade cabinet at this retro arcade place. Was a great game
Thank you for pointing out Granblu Fantasy to me. I always thought that was a fighting game like Street Fighter. I would have never thought to pay it any mind!
I just completed Persona 3 Reload a couple days ago, now I'm going back to my backlog and plan to finish Scarlet Nexus before Final Fantasy VII Rebirth releases.
I have 60 hours in Granblue Fantasy. Great game. Hope the DLC and add on content add a lot more, but I think the devs weren't prepared for this response from fans. Hope they can deliver
Just started Granblue Fantasy Relink today! I am not big on fighting games so I skipped the previous Granblue, but this is much more my thing so I am excited to dive in! Anything to keep me busy until Ys X comes out over here in the west!
Prince of Persia is soooo good. I absolutely love Metroidvanias and this is one of the best I’ve played. What I love about it is it’s a perfect blend of combat and platforming. And the platforming sections, particularly the optional ones can be quite challenging. It’s great, it will be up there in my top 10 games of the year for sure.
Between Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth and Persona 3 reload, that's 2 of my top 3 favorite video game series of all time releasing games right next to each other. I'm set for months and loving life!
I'm currently 30 hours into chapter 5 in Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth and I love every second of this game. My next games are going to be Unicorn Overlord and Baldur's Gate 3 (the physical version, as I'm an 98% physical collector).
I just watched the credits roll on Persona 3. I have FES on PS2 but only got it recently and waited for this remake and was not disappointed. One of my favorite games of all time. Looking forwards to trying out the other games, but FF7: Rebirth is almost here so that will be first on my list.
Yeah, Prince of persia is awesome, when I found out it was a metroidvania style game, I got hyped for it months before. Also Playing Mario vs donkey kong & the Tomb raider remasters, don't normally play new games
Welcome back first! Struggling this yr, I have all three major Rpg Titles and I'm still playing the first Yakuza like a dragon. 🤞🏾 I beat it by the end of this Month because I really want to play the new one.
Waiting a bit for Persona 3 myself at this point; but I did nab Granblue Fantasy Relink and oh boy does it scratch that itch of a wonderfully vibrant anime fantasy world.
I'm currently playing through Ys VIII for the first time! Been playing through the whole series this year and I started the game on Nightmare mode. It's pretty amazing. My favorite Ys games are V and VI but I hope this game blows me away just like those did. Loving it so far!
hey man good talking for a minute at the game store. didnt know youre from the same area. will check persona3 out. never played any of them ever. always beleived your game reviews
I picked up Granblue Fantasy Relink because of watching this episode. Can confirm, it does rock. Once you get into a groove with your character combat its addictive. Gorgeous visuals and framerate as well
I am such a collector that I can never keep up with the newest games but I just finished Spider-Man 2 but last night I decided to peruse my PS3 collection and popped in a game I never played which was Binary Doman and I was losing my mind that Ryu Ga Gotoku made a gears of war esque game. I had such a blast! It is the curse and blessing of collecting faster than you can play...on one hand you're mad you slept on a game but also you get that "blockbuster" experience on a Saturday night from your own shelf
I've tried a good few times to get into Persona 3. It just never really clicked with me the way 4 and 5 did, but Reload managed to bridge that gap and I've been loving it. About 30ish hours in now
Right? It's so much better now. Used to kind of hate the game, but they made a lot of fixes for the stuff that I felt was wrong with it, which I greatly appreciate.
Man, that Granblue game looks so awesome! It really does kind of look like a blend of Dragon Quest XI and Ys. I also can't wait to get into the Yakuza series this year.
It is actually more like Monster Hunter than anything else. The comparison to Ys is mainly the combat, but the missions boss fights without the exploration in MH.
Prince of Persia is awesome. I played the original back in the day and this is DEFINITELY that game on steroids. I just played through the demo on Switch and I’m totally buying it with my next payday.
I bought some older games this month for the PS4: Aliens Dark Descent, Styx Shards of Darkness, Bulletstorm, RE3 Remake and Witch and the Hundred Knight. I currently play Mutants Year Zero and i love every second of it!
Been playing Granblue and Persona 3 remake and I'm loving them. Also have been playing Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore, it's a spiritual successor to the Zelda CDI games and it's both hilarious and actually plays well unlike it's predecessors. Been a really fun year for gaming already so far.
Tekken 8 has done for the franchise what Tekken 3 did back in 1997. Game of the year so far. If you have not touched Tekken 8 yet, the do so whenever you can.
I actually finished prince of Persia on switch last night. 45hr plythru and as an old Skool gamer this one really fulfilled 👍 my game of the year so far
I keep hearing that some outlets are going to quit stocking physical video games soon. I hope they don't quit printing them too. Keep at your hobby, Johnny. I can't imagine a world without physical media either.
I'm honestly surprised that a game as shallow and generic as Grandblue gives me so much fun. It's just such a guilty pleasure, beautiful graphics, full screen explosions, the combat is just epic. Sometimes such a game is better than more ambitious ones, it's pure fun.
I just finished Granblue Fantasy Relink. Trying to finish FF16 now before rebirth is out. Currently on vacation, so I brought my switch with me. Been playing some Mario RPG
Glad you’re playing Prince of Persia. I’ve never played any game in the series but I’m absolutely loving it. I had the same attitude when you started except I didn’t even like Ubisoft since Splinter Cell.
I've been hooked on Granblue Fantasy Relink since it released. 50+ hours and I have only really been playing Siegfried, I still have so many other characters to play.
I've been hopelessly addicted to Granblue Fantasy Relink. Such a ridiculously fun game, and the perfect escape for fun and positivity for me since my mother just passed away recently. It feels like a fusion between Tales/Ys and Monster Hunter in all the best ways. Put about 80 hours in and still nowhere near done (currently grinding to get all the Terminus Weapons).
Whatever you did to the camera and/or lightning. Keep those settings, this is the best picture you've had in a video ever! It wasn't bad before, but it's a big step up. I really wanna try out Granblue Fantasy: Relink. A lot of people I know from the PSO2 community says that the combat have some stuff have that's almost 1:1 on some of the classes in base PSO2 (Not NGS). Hearing that it reminds you of Ys makes me more excited! I hope it releases on Switch later on.
I'm all about P3R right now until Rebirth is out. About 3/4 of the way through. I myself began with Innocent Sin but somehow P3 kind of just never happened for me. Then I played the rest (both P4/P4G and P5/P5R and P5S). I'm really into it so far, just got past a certain plot twist and it's getting very interesting and I keep hearing the ending will blow my mind and is one the best in the series. Looking forward to it! :)
