@@DMS3TV Alright. For me its baked goods wheat that makes my skin start burning just minutes after i eat them. Also stress, sleep schedule seem to give me outbreaks. Guess its just a matter of having a good lifestyle.

@@MrMikkeldk7 ever walkway from your computer with your headphones on? The detachable cable is so the cable comes out and not your headphones breaking. Also if the cable frays you can replace it without trashing the headset.
Hey DMS, I modify Beyerdynamics to have a detachable cable, and I did the Tygr recently so I have some insight on the drivers. They are actually DT 990 drivers rather than DT 880 drivers, but they clearly sound nothing like DT 990s.
Dude i'm using DT 1990 with dolby atmos in Warzone. It's incredible. I'm not good Warzone player but i hunt those poor souls with the precision imaging lul. It's not just about headphone though. Warzone really has good audio design and dolby atmos implementation.
@@matrixz6 I use studio reference with DT 1990. Midnight with stereo speakers. It's all about dynamic range. Loudness difference between explosions and small noises.
I have a 5.2 for my gaming system and the first thing I've listened to that sounded nearly identical to my speakers and surround was the Hifiman Sundaras, interesting. I have the mmx300s and although they are excellent, the Sundaras feel way more like 'real life'. I'm curious about the 300r's but the Sundaras I already own and I can't imagine better.
Great review. Compare the professionalism and knowledge displayed in this video with the output from the one hyping everything. By the way, are those VHS tapes?
I add this to my "things You can't buy"-list since it's impossible to buy and get shipped to sweden without having to pay the double price for a bundle with a mic I won't ever use. Thanks for the review though :)
You can buy from Thomann for 1490 SEK (139€). They ship to Sweden, just change the country on their site and language, currency etc. will change. It's the same price as everywhere in Europe.
Tygr vs MMX 300 Gen 2. Are they exactly the same just one is closed back and the other closed back? Or does the sound signature, frequency response, imaging and soundstage change radically hinting at wholly different drivers between these 2?
Got a pair coming today, it was a toss up between these and the 880 and because they’ll be used mostly for gaming I went with the TYGR. Looking forward to hearing them!
@@vytautaskryzius2556 I absolutely love them. They’re so good. Comfort is amazing, the soundstage and imaging is spectacular, and they just sound so nice. They don’t have any sibilance and picking out footsteps is superb. They also sound awesome for music and movies. If music is going to be your main use I’d go for the 880 though
@@vytautaskryzius2556 I honestly love mine. If you buy them from somewhere with a good returns policy then you could always send them back if you’re not happy.
I'd love to see something on the Audio Technica AUD ATHAD1000X or 2000x and for gaming. They seem to have faded into obscurity aside from Zeos giving them some attention a while back.
Audio Technica ATH-ADG1x is basically a 900x with a supercardiod condenser mic attached marketed at gamers. Discontinued since 2020 though. I own these, got em for 200 USD to replace my old ATH AD-700. Honestly under 400 USD they are the best headphones for FPS/Competitive gaming IMHO. At only 48 ohm, I power these with my Sennheiser GSX 1000 at 30 % volume. The imaging is incredible and the soundstage is perfect for competitive gaming, not too wide (Fidelios) and not stupidly small (HD600/6xx series). It's a tight soundstage, that presents sound super accurately up to 200-220 degree arc (huge 53mm driver baby) so perfect for gaming. I hate it when people recommend the bass heavy Fidelios X2R for gaming when the cues sound like they come from another continent (if you can pick em up and not drowned in all that bass) or when people shill the Sennheiser 600/6xx series as godlike for gaming when they present everything in front of you and CLOSE to you (yes the imaging is excellent, but determining the actual in-game distance between you and the audio cues is nigh impossible cuz the soundstage is MINUSCULE and intimate, a cue might be a block away but sounds like 10 meters away from you), plus need a powerful amp to power, cuz 150 to 300 ohms... So I got the Audio Technica ATH-ADG1x for as my open back headset for FPS, competitive gaming and discord in 2019 and am considering the Beyer MMX 300 Gen II as my closed back for single player fun gaming and music listening. Although these Beyer Tygr might be the best all-rounder open back casual gaming headphones now.
Got excited upon seeing a new Beyer; instantaneously disappointed upon learning the un-detachable cable. Shame. I actually find the gaming colour scheme sexy. I'll have to stick with my DT1990 pro for gaming then. Thanks for the detailed review.
DTS an OT. My son and me have a similar skin rush issue. We have found relieve with this ointment creme Clobesol 00.5 pc of GSK a british manufacture.Give it a try.
Hi DMS you know your stuff, and you know ,Z, im not worthy , just found you im now subscribed. im going to go back in time to watch your reviews. but for now it would be great if you could pick one headset to play p.c games with what would it be, thank you for your time fingers cross for your reply . keep safe Darren
i really like Beyerdynamic, my only issue with them is i cant use them for any longer than a hour or two anymore..they give me a headache, i have the DT990 pro and DT 1990 pro but i swapped over to the HD660s and they are pleasing on the ears, might give these a try and see if they give me headaches aswell
@@captainbozo01 Yeah ive heard good stuff about them, i ended up with the DT 1770 pros and so far i love them, i often switch back and fourth between my 1990s and 1770s but always find myself reaching for the 1770s 9/10 times
I finally decided to get a better headphones than my RS 175 from sennheiser. What should I get between tygr 300r and dt 880 250ohm? I have a Fiio e10k dac/amp, and I can't afford to change it right now. The price is almost the same, 5/10 euros difference. I mainly listen to electronic music (psytrance) and other genres (pop, rock, rap, metal, classical) from time to time.
@@DMS3TV Ok, cool. So pretty much a unique phone! I "pre-ordered" mine during the Black Friday sale, so they're supposed to show up in like 2-3 weeks. x_x I hate the Beyer company so much lol
What is a V shaped sound? Personally I am looking at an all rounder, though I guess I may have to consider getting an amp and a mod mic. If I could detach the wire I would use an adapter, so it is wireless during video class meetings and then wired for low latency gaming. Any tips on low latency gaming headphones or are wired all equally fast? The monitor I have decided on is 3 -5 milliseconds response in tests. Is audio lag on par with this?
@@dante19890 what is "pushed back"? Is that like in the sound stage? When I am hearing it in my head, or is it something different? What sort of sounds would be recessed, would this be noticeable?
@@ligh7foo7 pushed back in the mix. If u increase both bass and treble the mids are gonna take a backseat so you hear voices abit further back. Usually V shape sound signature creates a little more spacious sound but u lose the vocal intimacy and mids can sound abit thin, especially on male vocals. Usually audiophiles prefer a flat tuning when everything is even and at balance, but V shape is is usually the mainstream tuning most casuals like the best.
Yow DMS. thank you for your knowledge sharing and time. I bought the Tygr 300R for simracing, mostly Iracing and got so much more detail from the environment it's ridiculous. The starts are crazy when all cars line up to the green light. I did expect something but not this laser precision accuracy of the cars who I am racing with. Music and Movies sound great too.
Received my TYGR's 2 hours ago, was thát curious, immediately started listening, & within an hour or so the 'edginess' was already gone, & I'm completely in love with them.. I can't believe how good they are for a mere 142 euro's.. Ordered it 4-5 days ago, as soon as there was stock, & just now thought I'll order one for my dad, but they're sold out.. again.. If you can find one, get it.
As an HD6XX owner and former DT1990 owner looking for a good pair of gaming-focused headphones with good bassy music handling, the TYGR 300R's are definitely on my radar. Does anyone know how they would compare to the Phillips Fidelio X2HR's?
I purchased these cans off the back of this review and I must say I have not been disappointed. I subsequently purchased the DT1990pro but found it a little bit hot. I swapped the inner foam between the 2 and found I enjoyed the DT1990 more with the Tygr foam over the driver. I then thought heck, lets try the tygr with no foam over the drivers since they are sitting there all nekkid. Personally I actually prefer the tygr without the foam over the driver which really surprised me. I would highly recommend trying them as such for a free, easy and reversable change.
I only have the tygr so I can only say about the 990 what I have heard, to me it sounds like the 990s are way more fatiguing (I can listen to the tygr for a pretty long time at a decent level without any farigue), imaging and soundstage might be pretty similar (not 100% sure tho). Really like the build quality, 990 prolly has a similar build quality. Not sure how they compare in the mids/lows. I would guess that the tygr is a bit darker
So I have them both and the 990's are defnietely higher while presenting a little more details. It's (slightly) easier to pick out single instruments or melodies. And I feel like they're a little punchier in the bass. The Tygr has a little bit better locability which makes them better for gaming. And really you could listen to the Tygr forever, it's a super relaxed listen. Also the Tygr , isolates even less then the 990 pro.
1990's are your best choice if you have the money. Get a good amp and you wont need another pair of headphones ever. 660s and 58x do not have the soundstage as the others have which depending on the game, I've found to be extremely usefull to have more. These tygrs seem to be a cheaper 1990 so honestly if you want to save money get these.
@@donmon808 Yeah I'm on the big island. Yeah, I had emailed to asked when theyd go up again and a few weeks ago they were back in stock but sold out really fast. Do you have um?
Interesting characteristics for a gaming headphone. Great imaging is a must, but why reduce the treble when that is the most important frequency range for competitive gaming... Definitely seems like a fun headphone to try out regardless. I know you mentioned it having more precise imaging than anything under a few thousand dollars, but would you say it is much better than the esp95X in that regard?
One thing i dont yet understand about imaging and soundstage. I think my mmx300 gen2. have way more soundstage and way better imaging than the tygr 300r. how do you define it? for me the mmx300's sound is farther out, and i can pinpoint the location alot more easily. the tygr's on the other hand have more in your face sound(closer) and pretty narrow soundstage.
They are truly the best headphones. The imaging is great. I use it both for music and gaming. For example with Fortnite, I hear all the details. When I spectate others, I am like dude he is behind you.
I play a lot more games than I do listen to music. Since I'm an FPS gamer and direction is important to me, which of these headsets would you recommend? Apparently, treble is the most important thing for hearing footsteps in games. This review suggests that these headsets might not be good for that?
Any chance you have found some pads to replace the stock? I have major issues with my ears hitting the drivers, it hurts after awhile. Unfortunately I have tried Dekoni Elite Velour pads and it makes these complete bass cannons.
I like it that I understand you. And I like it that you're not in a hurry. You make the effort to complete you thoughts and don't expect viewers to make mental leaps. I do have an idea for a video. You may have already done it though: can you make one about which headphones block out ambient sound the best without using noise cancelation?
What are your thought on it when comparing to akg k7xx? Qould this headset be a good replacement for k7xx? I am primarily interested in sound stage and imaging.
I've got the DT 1990 Pro with Dekoni Hybrid Pads. Any reason to still get the TYGR 300R? I'm curious how they sound. btw....Out of Stock on the Beyerdynamic website
Great Video. I ordered a pair yesterday. Unfortunately, I received an email from Beyerdynamic this morning telling me that I'm now on backorder, minimum 2 weeks before shipped. I'm guessing this video had something to do with that. :)
They're getting hard to get lately, but I'd be glad about a review on the Beyerdynamic Xelento in-ears. Thanks for all that you do here. Your opinions and insights are much appreciated!
@@x-techgaming Really? I don't think they sound flat at all. Not particularly bassy, but they have a nice punch IMO. And I'm just a sucker for imaging lol
@@captainbozo01 I like HD660 and Sundara a lot more, but of course much more expensive. Never liked DT sound, except the 880. AD700x/900x would be a good alternative, as well. There are some excellent IEMs, as well, such as fiio FD5, KZ ZAX and Shuoer Tape/Tape Pro that kick the ass of most budget headphones.
I currently use the tygr300 especially for fps and open world games and listen to a bit of varied music, if I made the jump to a dt1990 or a t1 gen2 would you notice much of a difference? or for the use that I give it is not worth it. thanks for the videos
I would have bought the 300 R instantly if it wasn't bundled with their microphone. Not paying €370 for a pair of €140 headphones and a €150 microphone that as far as I can tell really isn't good at all or any better than my Mod mic. What would you say DMS? Is the 300 R worth €370?
You don’t have to get the bundle. As stated in the video (and also linked in the description) it’s much cheaper if you get just the headphone without the mic.
@@DMS3TV This is true if you live in Germany Austria Netherlands France UK Belgium Luxembourg Spain or USA, otherwise it's bundle only. So for most it's bundle only I'm afraid. Soundguys also had the bundle only option and so they couldn't recommend it for people who didn't need a microphone. It does seem like a really promising pair of headphones though.
The nice thing about the TYGR 300 is that you don’t need to eq it at all. I feel like the dt1990 needs eq at 8k to 10k range. But that’s personal preference.
Being the first video I saw aside from the Linus Tech Tips colab video, I'd say you're definitely doing a nice job and have a good attention to detail with what you're saying and how you're presenting it. Good job, man.👍
@@Tripokaridos22 Yeah but then you have to spend money buying an extra extension cable, with the long one you don't have to. If you want to shorten the long one you just fold a section of it up and either tie it or tape it, and that's much cheaper to do.
Thanks for the thorough review of this Beyerdynamics headphone (I can't stand unboxing vidéo anymore), I had the DT880 and the DT990 on hand lately and everything ou said about them is what I experienced now I have ordered a Tygr 300 can't wait to try !
super tempted to pull trigger on purchase after watching your review. But! that non-removable cable - that's a deal breaker. I had too many headphones with permanently attached cable thrown into recycle bin because the wire or the plug got messed up. this is 2020. no headphone manufacturer - especially the likes of BeyerDynamic - should produce any headphone with permanently attached cable.
I agree completely. However throwing away good heaphones when the cable breaks is a waste. It's not that hard to replace it (and there is no real risk when the cable is broken) and you can also DIY a cable plug. I just wish it wasn't needed.
If you can work a soldering iron you can repair a set of Beyerdynamics. IMO I would never throw a set of Beyers in the garbage. They've gone to really long lengths to try to make their headphones user serviceable and you can even buy replacement parts from them directly and do it yourself.
