It's time for a bit of experimental fishing in the Totally Awesome Fishing Show. This time GP has used electrical tape to bind a battery powered rod top indicator to a home made float he was given. It's the backend of one of his fishing Autumn fishing trips, and he decides on one last trip out before he stops fishing for this species for another 6 months. Do the battery floats work? Watch the film to find out...he gets some epic rod bending action...Enjoy.

Hi Graham. Always love your content. I wonder if you would make a video about fishing a flooding river. Zero visibility, fast current and maybe displaced fish are all things that I struggle with. Thanks again for your lifetime of experience, what a treasure trove. 👍🏼🙏🏼

Ideally it really helps to know your target species. If the flow is too strong then you can find areas of slack water where the fish can tuck into and hide or rest from the strong currents. If youre ledgering, consider using a heavier lead or lead that is shaped in a way that it doesnt roll very easily. If lure fishing use darker bright colours like firetiger patterns or go for really really dark colours like black that will create more of a silhouette in coloured water. The same goes for hardbaits like jerk baits. Jerk baits will work well against the flow of the river and coloured water as most of them will contain some ball bearings inside to make a rattling noise to attract fish. old school spinners or any of the newer styled 'buzzbaits' like the Berkley Pulse Spintail for example are also great to use as well. Spinners are great as they'll also create a bit of 'flash' as they spin. if float fishing. you can use your rod to keep your line from drifting, but you might catch more fish if you dont have your hook pinned to the bottom and let it flow down river with the current - a method known as trotting or long trotting. Grame uses this method in a lot of videos when he's fishing the river.

Hi Graham I'm wanted to encourage you and thank you for your show. Whilst I don't watch everyone the ones that are relevant I do and take enjoy them. A river that is essentially my local (an hour 15 away). You fished during the summer and emptied. I was always told it was a winter only venue. Anyway great to see cheers and tight lines Jon

Not sure what one is producing more light but the human eye has evolved to detect green light the most as this is the colour light that is most emitted from the sun. In short this means that we tend to see green better that any other colour, so for a choice of glow stick for your float green may be best.

Hi Graham, in keeping with going off topic. I am watching on Sunday in Australia a rerun of Antique Road show. There I saw a gent who looks identical to you showing his rosewood music box. And then he finished with "that's totally awesome". Great going to get that in 😁. Keep up your great content whatever it happens to be.

A salad?.....damn!! Actually. my food gear is pasta and stuff.. with a lot of salad. I've found that a big bowl to scoff it from gets you pretty full quite quick to which you put it down and you are feeling a bit peckish later on you pick and munch again. Even in the Winter. two flasks one with the obligatory tomato soup and the other for tea/ coffee and sorted. Nothing heavy but you feel content....might bring a bag of boiled sweets as well. Off to the Trent at Shardlow this xmas day!!!!... it's fining down very well....... need to get out... need to get out!

Let the bats fly, their eating all the pesky insects, I was always glad to see them come around whenever I night fished, bcuz I know they were eating the mosquitoes and things like that, although they will fly close to your head sometimes. Oooo-weee, man I would love to come over there and do that sometime, especially fish for those Wels, along with Barbel, Chub. Man I really dig those light sticks, beats the heck out of the old light sticks, the chemical ones, I'm not even going to try and spell that, haha, you know what I mean though. Anywho, absolutely fantastic Graeme, absolutely fantastic!!!!

I always like the wind in my face Graeme, Except when it is very cold. I do it to take advantage of undertow. In summer months especially, higher dissolved oxygen content in the water is due to the turbulence on the water's surface. It is the only place where oxygen can diffuse into the water. It can create 'comfort zones' for the fish, where they are more comfortable to feed. If margin fishing there's always the 'free' ' groundbait too, falling into the water. Beetles, all kinds of larvae and of course worms and slugs too Fir the floats try some soft silicon tubing like Tygon as sleeves to hold the lights or plastic chemical light vials. I have been experimenting with 'baitless' bait on hair rigs. Will report back on that over this winter. The beauty of it is that fish are stimulated to feed🎉 but they consume nothing with calorific value so feed hard wondering why the food is not getting to their bellies. I believe it will work well in the sea too but want to trial it for maybe 3 months .

The tape I used was pretty easy...took about 5 seconds...and the fish weren't bothered. I reckon they are attracted to the light.

Hi Graeme, This is just a response to your recent reply on Orange Bait Knife etc as i was wondering if you ever received the Cuda Sharpener at the same time as the Knife and Cuda Bait Scissors which i sent as a package of 3 items ? If you did then that's ok. If not i want to know this as i paid good money for the multi sharpener which is a great tool including hook sharpening. Please let me know on this. Steve in Fife.

A little late getting here.. you probably don't read this far in the comments Graeme but have you not already uploaded this, is it a re-upload because I remember I have seen this some months ago because I actually purchased the two floats that you're actually using in this video because of the one I saw... Maybe it's updated.. it's definitely the same video that I've watched that is in your playlist I'm not just from today... Oh well I've watched it 4 times already I might as well watch 5 time

No,its a new film held over in the files. You probably saw the floats used with either starlights of the float that lights when it comes into contact with water. Or you probably saw a short clip on our Facebook. We get these comments when I go back and fish the same swim on a fishery..We had one a few weeks back about a river I fish. That was also a new film.
