I always get up , shower, dress, make the bed, make up and jewelry on and ready for the day. When my children were growing up, I was up an hour before them and had everything ready ( if not the night before) so our mornings went smoothly. Plus that gave me the time to have a quiet cup of coffee. I never understood mothers who would be wearing pajamas and robes while taking their children to school. smh. After taking them to school , I had the day to run errands right after, or have coffee out with a friend etc. Then it was home for house work, and getting dinner at least started. Many times dinner was in the slow cooker by 10 a.m. . Sunday's were my reset day, I got everything done so Mondays were my day "off" . Thanks for reminding others of the craft of home making.... which has always been my most favorite thing to do 💐🪷🌸🌼🌞💗✝💖🇺🇲🥰

I was work from home from day one of the 2020-2022 shutdown. we never shut down for a moment. A couple of times, I tried to stay in my pajamas all day and work like a lot of people said they were doing but I just could not. I have to get up, take a shower, and do my morning routine. I didn't necessarily wear makeup every day but always at least my morning skincare routine, coffee or tea and maybe breakfast. My energy burst comes first thing in the morning.

Same same same❤❤❤. It’s the way to go- makes our days fun and enjoyable rather than stressed and miserable. I wish I could convince my own daughter of this- it’s what she grew up with but now as a mom herself she’s scrambling and hassled 😵‍💫

I don’t know if you’re familiar with the book, “Sink Reflections” by Marla Cilley but one of her statements is to get up, get dressed with shoes on! This concept is so true, I’ve lounged around in PJ’s all day and found I didn’t have the mental energy which then drains your physical energy.

I can absolutely attest to the importance of being a homemaker. My mother was home when we were growing up. On Friday when I’d come home from school I’d smell cookies. It was so comforting as a kid, school was difficult to me and coming home to hugs and homemade food made with love was like nothing else. When she chose to instead work away from home (she didn’t need to, she had enough financial support) I’d come home to an empty house. I’d turn the tv on so that I didn’t feel alone. No more smells of cookies, so I made them myself. It was like night and day. Also, thank you for mentioning how a homemade dinner can still feel comfy without a table and chairs. I live with my husband and children in a tiny rental and we have chairs but no table for all of us to sit at. But I do my best to make it cozy.

If your Mom was of the Boomer generation she was probably made to feel worthless without an outside job. There was a lot of pressure on women to work, whether they wanted to or not.

What you said about having a food pantry is so important. It gives one a sense of security knowing they will eat in hard times. I love to cook. I use a old fashion pressure cooker for things that take a long time, such as chili or split pea soup. I soak beans and peas over night anyway to shorten cooking time. I prefer a pressure cooker over an instant pot that uses power. Should I lose power, I can still use the pressure cooker on my other cooking option which is a butane burner. l live in an old A Frame cottage which I dearly love. Since it's old, it's dark wood inside. I love rustic and fell in love with this place as soon as I saw it. This is a small rental community with 9 other A Frames. I've got red plaid curtains and light colored furniture to brighten up the place but it's still cozy. My neighbor was over the other day for the first time and was surprised at how much room there is here. I was surprised at her reaction as she lives in the A Frame next to me, same layout and everything. She also didn't seem real happy with the A Frame in general, but she really liked mine. As a former professional organizer my old instincts kicked in. I asked if I could see her place. I was shocked and understood her mood right away. All the furniture was black and there was a ton of it. She's in the process of lightening things up and getting rid of some pieces.

Love getting up slowly like the birds do. I stretch my arms, bend and touch my toes. Walk into the bathroom splash my face with cold water, and freshen up a bit. Walk Back into the bedroom, make the bed lift the shade from in the bedroom continuing to lift all the shades on my way to the kitchen. Doing these things means I never have to go back and tidy things up. Now I am ready for 1 cup of coffee and prayer for the day,a hr later I eat a good protein meal. Now I am ready to meet my day. Yes! My b.1917 grandmother was always dressed, coiffed, and maquillaged until her last days in a nursing home when she was the only person cognizant of her appearance. Being home since lockdown started, I've noticed I'll delay going out for a day or so until I'm "ready," which is horrible on several levels. Homemaking is described in Proverbs 31 and is an expression of love to all who experience your home.

I love this channel. I was following your list and feeling on it - check, check, check, check - then you got to shoes. In our dusty, gravelly Wyoming environment we keep our shoes at the door and wear slippers in the house, but getting dressed, putting on makeup (and fragrance). combing hair, getting most of the housework done the night before and the rest before my husband gets up usually leaves me with a quiet 30 minutes to have a cup of coffee and gather my thoughts. And you're right, an organized and tidy house is relaxing. Your garden is lovely BTW.

I absolutely loved my "job" of being a mom/homemaker. I taught violin lessons at home in the afternoons. So I would cook our dinner after lunch and would leave it on the stove. When the kids walked in the door after school, they were greeted with lovely smells of a home cooked meal. I also read an article about creating "clutter free" zones in the home. For us, it was the kitchen counters, table and dining room. Of course the living areas were relaxing spaces. But we would tidy up before bed. After a while these habits became routine!
