I can't believe I just discovered your channel. I've been searching for speaker renovations and your channel never came up. Anyway really nice upgrade!

Great improvement. I could hear the difference on my tv speakers which are quite simple Argos Fenris 4 active speakers 👍 Love your channel by the way ❤

I had these speakers several years ago. I installed Bob Cortes crossovers and titanium speakers. I have moved on to bigger and better horn loaded speakers but for my ears, Klipsch + a tube amp is how music was intended to be listened to.

Nice! Those are some great upgrades. I just picked up my first tube amp and am excited to restore it and give it a listen. Thanks for watching!

Klipsch ….which model would you start with? Heresy …….or go slightly bigger ?
@Shuksanaudio
@Shuksanaudio 4 месяца назад
Personally, I don't like the Heresy, too bright and thin but a lot of people love them. The crites upgrades might help. I'd go bigger with a set of KG4s, Forte's, or something else if you've got the space and budget for it. Unless you've found a killer deal on some Heresys...might be worth picking them up to decide if you like them. @@gdwlaw5549

@@gdwlaw5549 depends on your budget. If you want heritage speakers then probably the best bang for your buck is the Forte’s and then the Cornwalls but they’re a couple thousand more new. If you like good bass, I wouldn’t get the Hereseys unless you plan on running a powered sub with them. They sound fantastic but their bass response leaves a little to be desired. But I’ll say this, if you can find a pair of KG4’s, spend the money on Crites tweeters and crossovers. KG4’s are seriously good sounding speakers with those upgrades. Really talking heritage sound on a budget.

I have the first generation KG4. i rebuilt the crossovers and replaced the tweeters on the horn with the bob crites titanium tweeters. i lined the inside of the cabinet with a dynamat type product. They sound great but i a going to sell them, i got a pair Forte's that rock.

Nice! I’ve heard good things of the KG4 and it sounds like you gave them the royal treatment! I just sold the 4.2’s because they weren’t my cup of tea as well. The guy who bought them is in love with them!

Is this basically the same for KG 5.2? I have a speaker that the high end is just dead. I bought replacement drivers with hopes this is it, however I would appreciate a parts list to replace all the components on the board.
@Shuksanaudio
@Shuksanaudio Месяц назад
Thanks for watching! The crossover is different. You can just pull the board and look at the components on it. Easiest way to get a parts list together. You should only really need to replace the electrolytic cap and the tweeter protection components since the other caps don't tend to age poorly.

안녕하십니까? 3번째 우퍼 스피커에는 배선이 연결 되지 않나요? 음을 효과적으로 들을수 있게 장착된 패시브 스피커 일까요? 매우 궁금합니다.
@Shuksanaudio
@Shuksanaudio Месяц назад
안녕하세요! 세 번째 스피커는 패시브 라디에이터이므로 배선이 필요하지 않습니다. 스피커 내부의 공기압을 사용하여 저음을 추가합니다. 시청해 주셔서 감사합니다!

Change the electrolytic caps, priority one. Everything else may still be good. Toss all the electrolytics but keep the rest. You may want to put some of those old parts back later… I’d upgrade the inductors to larger gauge copper as well, if you have a few extra $$ that is…
@Shuksanaudio
@Shuksanaudio Год назад
Great tips! If you want better sound on a budget, the polyswitch and 33uF electrolytic cap are going to give the biggest reward. I always save all the parts just in case. These speakers had seriously rolled off highs and the 33uF is only for the woofer which is why I also replaced the other two caps and resistors. Have you noticed much change in sound by swapping out old inductors for better ones? Thanks so much for watching!
@nelsondog100
@nelsondog100 Год назад
@@Shuksanaudio to be 100% honest, I have not noticed anything upgrading the inductors. It’s just a habit I’ve gotten into when restoring any x/o. Be sure the change out those electrolytics though, that’s where you’ll hear something if no where else.
@Shuksanaudio
@Shuksanaudio Год назад
Gotcha! I was curious because I've done inductors on a couple of crossovers but at the same time as all other components. Might have to A/B test some time. My theory is they won't make much difference on mid to low end speakers. They also usually cost as much as the rest of the components combined so I just don't change them. If it were a multi thousand dollar set of speakers, I would definitely do them though. Just want to make sure you don't change the DCR or impedance too much or it could affect the crossover negatively.

I thought the updated one sounded more bassy, more slam - what song was that?

Totally! They definitely sound less muddy. I think the high frequencies being more present helps the bass sound more precise as well! The song is called "Dark Outlands" by River Foxcroft Thanks for watching!

why is there a fake woofer at the bottom and a real functional woofer at the top?????
@Shuksanaudio
@Shuksanaudio 7 месяцев назад
Great question! It’s called a passive radiator and helps with lower bass extension. It acts in a similar way to porting a cabinet and tuning the port to a certain frequency to help smooth out the bass response. Thanks for watching :)

(It is much cleaner to have the horn attached inside. These speakers are definitely not as attractive as if the horn was round. They look like speakers from a public address system or professional system. They were not expensive though so it makes sense the cheaper construction. )
