Not all... some do. Early day rappers mostly did... BUT as soon as they got famous and made money, that life is not there anymore, with a few exceptions to the rule. The partying... yes of course? That street life? No... and most 2010 rappers to now, mostly all BS... they're not gangster, they never was... to the point some idiots actually tried to be gangster when they became famous (thinking about a particular one with rainbow colored hair). And not only Jay said that, Fat Joe very recently said 90% he raps about is made up, 50 has said he rapped about shit he didn't do. On the spot I can think of only one rapper that kept it "real" all of his career until the day of his passing... DMX. That man really couldn't shake his demons, his habits, his old life... which eventually led to his passing.

I think he told this at Colbert, after he got shot he started to have a very healthy lifestyle, no drugs, very minimal alcohol etc.

This gives an interesting perspective to why artists like Eminem and others like him are as appealing as they are. Em rapped about a lot of what was true to him, but never glorified the negatives in a positive light.. and when it seemed like he was doing that, it wasn't hard to see that it was as a character (slim shady). So you could differentiate what was real and what wasn't. So you could step back and enjoy those parts like you would a movie.

I disagree. Hear me out on this. Trying to keep my 11 year old daughter away from things that are on the internet, is a lost battle already. It becomes forbidden fruit, and exciting. When she got in to Kpop, and was fawning over how pretty these girls and boys were, we had a conversation about why. Makeup, surgery, sex sells, and all that stuff . I think it's way more important to tackle it with a conversation, kids need that, instead of just "banning" that or that thing. They will see it either way, and it's our job to deal with that. It's why we have sex education. If they are not versed in the subject, how can we expect them to know about it?

CDs haven’t been sold since the iPhone 1 came out bruh. You can’t control what your kid sees. They’ll get a hand me down phone from their friends, they’ll play music in their cars, they’ll hear shit at lunch in school, they’ll use computers, radio plays negatively influential music constantly. It isn’t 1980 anymore. No parent can control what their child listens to or watches

Leyor Cohen sat on the Breakfast club and said how sad and heartbreaking it was that these young rappers are hooked on drugs and dying, pretending like he gave a damn. Then CTG brought up the face that Lyor pushes and promotes the artists that glorify the very same behavior. Lyor's immediate response was that he had "a business to run" and had "mouths to feed". He was caught in 4k admitting that the artists he promotes have a negative influence on themselves and others but that ultimately their lives are expendable because of the almighty dollar.

As a rapper myself, even though I’m not at the level I want to be at, I’m aware our word is what people seek. Most people consider rappers/singers etc as heroes. I make my music more closely based to my life but I dramatize events to make the song standout more (which I’m sure a lot of rappers are guilty of). I’m saying this because I fully believe rappers need to realize the impact they have to the youth as I was once a youth that wanted to be just like these rappers I listened to

My thing is, it matters what you are doing as a parent, but my kid has come home from school rapping and singing shit I have never heard before. That is what is scary. You can be doing what you need to do as a parent, but this shit can still make its way in. At some point, it always become a conversation with your kids, letting them know this shit is not reality, and it's something that they shouldn't be looking up to or following.

Music is the most influential thing on the planet. It can cause so much emotion especially when its relatable and it connects. When it's a negative connection it is going to be the most destructive thing you can ever witness it can literally feed or destroy the soul. I understand where you're coming from. However, I think we need to indeed put more pressure on the Parents still. People have the right to listen to what they want and play what they want, after all the thing that separates people based off of behaviour the most is thier respective regions or household upbringings. That being said , I think parents need to be absolutely vicious on these things from a particular angle. It shouldn't take people dying and theatrics to make Zuckerberg be a soul scapegoat for government. We need to see parents coming out in the numbers people were coming out in for black lives matter. This is the only thing I can say needs to be done. The issue is that parents Today aren't equipped with the mental tools needed to actually be good parents , Government doesn't teach nor promote it. So unfortunately we have a state of perpetual degeneration going on due to unfit parents and a government and religious sector that is also morally corrupt. However it is again on the people to rise up and demand , just like how in some instances we see certain parents against lgbtq at the schools their kids go to. The People are supposed to show the power, it is after all the age of canceling. So why not cancel these people's ability to IMPOSE. Its not saying don't do it , it's just saying hey don't do that around me or my children, go to other places and establish those boundaries. Then if the kids or what have you still find a way to go there that's just on the parents and the kids otherwise as it stands it is unfortunately a fight.

The ones who fake it and the one who really live it are in the same boat. There is no difference for the simple fact that the end result is the same. The problem is that the both groups are GLORIFYING negativity in their music. It would be one thing if they warned others to avoid living in such a destructive way, but they're in these videos waving guns around laughing about the "ops" they murdered or rapping about their drug use in an appealing way and putting it in a glamorous light. So whether or not these rappers are fake or the real deal the message and influence is the exact same.

As a person who is born and raised in a very diverse Brooklyn New York, people defend rap and rappers defend their credibility about “being about that life” because the urban community buys into the culture. Many adapt it proudly in their community. Many obviously are about that life in these urban communities. Many almost enjoy the fact that people outside of their communities fear them while pretending to be offended that people fear them when they want to come off as innocent lol

Enforcing accountability among the audience would be effective only if they possessed the capacity for understanding in the first place. However, considering that the audience, particularly those captivated by Trap music, largely comprises young children, they might simply emulate behaviors like consuming lean without fully comprehending the consequences. Most individuals lack intelligence, that's why you have to put warnings on everything. @@pjbpiano And you know this because you created the universe right? You are the almighty the great I am that There was everything about the universe not a human that's never actually been off Is planet or met any other type of life from any other type of planet That can't be it it has to be that math is the universal Is language Cause human said so So very cromagnon of you

@@sheenadees2701, you clearly must not listen to a large variety of music to react like that.
@sheenadees2701
@sheenadees2701 8 месяцев назад
@pjbpiano I think rather it's clearly clear that you do not listen to a large enough variety of music. I love how humans just assume that they Know Everything because some other Human said it when you have traveled out to the ends of the universe and can literally show me Proof that math is the universal language me theorizing that music is, and I did theorize it. I said if you ask me. And until you show me proof I can theorize anything I want so unless you are the great, I am I. Suggest you start looking into your own things and let people have their own opinions or Is that just too hard for little babies like you that can't stand that other people might have other opinions than you? Bet your part of that cancel culture too, huh, bet you you love all those Lil, Zan's and little everythings that sit there and push drugs and being a thug having hoes, yeah, let's go watch that Cardi B fling her butt and boobs everywhere. The only redeeming quality to the music of nowadays is the beats. The words are meaningless anymore the message is pure poison but hey that's okay. Tell me again how everybody in the world understands math. Because that's proof that math is not the universal language. How is it universal? If not even every human can understand it? But that would take critical thinking on your part and understanding that science is theory And is always theory until it is proven which is why science is always questioning.

Now in todays music market the responsibility is less on the accountability of the listener when it comes to selecting what music is forced in mainstream media. Now at the minut decision the power is still in the possession of the listener because they can power off the radio. However, personal selected music is becoming more and more of a controlled decision with the illusion of choice by the listener, because of what Russ touched on referencing streaming music and television. You can't listen to what the company doesn't market to you.😎

Back in the day when I was doing all kinds of shit, somehow I always knew in the back of my head that it would just stop one day and it did, for me. To a lot of people I used to know, not so much, they continued and now most of them six feet under or in prison. Idunno what it was but if I had to guess it would probably have been the fact that I always think years ahead, not just about tomorrow, and that I got from home, my parents. So yeah..

That’s not ok to blame an artist for your bad decisions.If you aspire to do the same things that rap artists speak on then that’s on you.There is something to be said for personal accountability.

So with metal music, example Slipknot or Thy Art is Murder, they have to live the lifes they write about? Some artist usetheir musicto express the anger they have inside to be a sane person and try to be normal. Metalheads are the nicest people ever. Its legit left up to the listeners. I agree with you stevie , youre weak minded if you blame others for your own actions

Uh, no. Kids are kids. They aren’t “weakminded,” their brains are not fully developed, and no amount of parenting and ass beatings will change that. Clearly.

Aloha 🤙🏽 I smoked blunts heavily since the mid 90's because all my favorite rappers did. I used Dutch Masters for years because my favorite rappers did. I've worn Timberlands and Clark's since the 90's because my favorite rappers did. When I used to drink as a teen and in my 20's I drank Heineken and Becks because that what the rappers I listened to said they drank. I've used slang words and vocabulary that was directly influenced by my favorite rappers. Despite all that I've never been a stick up kid, hitman, gang member, pimp or dealer. 44 and never been arrested. Hip-Hop and Rap music have influenced me heavily for almost 30 years now but never influenced me to do dumb ish, the music influenced me to be knowledgeable and wise. Positive Rap/Hip-Hop inspired me in positive ways, negative & evil rap has also inspired me in positive ways. I agree on both sides here the rappers do bear some accountability, but we as listeners also make the choice in how we allow the music to influence us. Peace and love to all yall ✌🏽️❤️

Yeah, It comes down to being real and being morally in your rights to speak your truth even if it involves speaking on being a drug taker, and it comes down to people not faking the funk so it lessens potential damage in people's lives from them choosing to be influenced enough to do what their favorite artist is doing i.e taking drugs. What other people do is out of our control, BUT, if the ones that are faking the funk such as being a drug taker, don't lie about it in their music, then the percentage/amount of drug addicts would be lower. This is damage control by those who need to take that responsibility the most, and those are the ones who are lying about it. The argument being had really comes down to mitigating the risk of negative influence by people to stop faking the funk. Money Vs Morals.

The drug pushing murder rap is sooo toxic for our youth, and the fact that these big artists keep writing about the shit and the music labels keep signing trash rappers is so pathetic. I miss the non cussing female rappers like salt n peppa and good non cussing male rappers like NF. And I can’t stand for anyone to use the N word in any form whatsoever, again poisoning the youth and making them think it’s ok to say it 🙄🙄👎🏻👎🏻 it’s brainwashing bs 😡

There's some keywords he just said. If you were raised right, think about the ghetto. And the type of people that listen to the kind of hip-hop that they're putting out right now. Most of them come from homes where they didn't get raised, right? They didn't have that good chance that a lot of people have. That's not being taken into consideration that a lot of these kids listening to this music? They didn't get a choice on what family they got. They didn't get to say I want to be raised right.
