I freakin’ love that Banshee Boardwalk track! The original track was very ominous, no doubt, but it was very dark and uninteresting. That being said, that MK8DX rendition added so much detail, and the anti-grav part on the boat at the end was such a neat idea!
Thanks for featuring both of my tracks! They were both very fun to work on and I'm glad you like them. I also couldn't have finished Banshee Boardwalk without the help of Voidsource, who handled the fog, lighting, and helped me out with a few bugs and issues.
Holy crap! That Banshee Boardwalk was AMAZING. You took the original stage and gave it a modern twist all while staying faithful to the original premise.
Ironically, while it's a remake of the MK8D remake which had the freeest double gap cut ever, in this version the double gap cut is even more finnicky than in the original. (Accidentally edited this comment instead of another.)
Honestly that fan recreation of Banshee Boardwalk is amazing. The previous one made for MK8 was kinda dull and all the boats there made it look much more lively than it should've. But this one? The uneven boardwalk, the was everything is covered in vines, the little lighthouse island, the ribs over the dip, and the two anti grav sections being really nice, the last one being a crashed cruise ship is neat! (I guess pirate/airships are a bit overdone when Airship Fortress and Wario Shipyard exist). My only nickpick is the lack of diving into the water, even for a little bit. The dip and the original skewed jump would've been perfect places for a bit of water driving. I guess also no giant Cheep Cheep is also a bummer.
Thanks for the kind words! I really appreciate it. I agree I probably should've incorporated a bit of underwater gameplay, and I actually had a few ideas of how to add them, but scrapped them because, at the time, I didn't know how to make the lighting change when submerged in water (I have since learned how to). Also, don't worry, the big cheep cheep does show up, it just didn't appear in this video
@@FatCatMusic You're a really great MK8/D CT creator in general! Up to the point where I've watched so far, the video featured 2 tracks of yours, and both feel like that's actually the way the MK8 team would've remade them. Looking forward to seeing if your Dry Dry Ruins remake lives up to that sentiment.
I really like how the MK8 retro tracks have encouraged a bit more creative freedom with custom retro tracks, and as such we get stuff like the capsized cruise ship on Banshee Boardwalk, cave and cloudtop on DK Mountain, and crazy anti-gravity section (with added stripes for that added anti-grav coolness!) on Desert Hills. Like I like some of the older tracks, but sometimes there's being *too* faithful.
Thank you for showing off my improved version of N64 Wario Stadium! FunkyRacer and TheGamingBram did an amazing remaking it from the ground up. They were really nice to talk to about my edit and updated the track for the Wii U version as well. So many retro tracks remade with love!
I love how the N64 Rainbow Road remake in this video combines a lot of what makes the original great with what makes the Mario Kart 8 remake great while adding some new stuff as well. I also love how it’s not super long like the original but not too short like the Mario Kart 8 remake.
I would love to see Banshee Boardwalk make a comeback in MK8DX! I miss that course. I know it was brought back before, but just one more time, for the nostalgia!
Lot of great tracks in this one. I think that my favorite three have to go to the N64 Rainbow Road Recreation in Mario Kart Wii, GCN DK Mountain in 8, and 3DS Rainbow Road in Wii, all for similar reasons. N64 RR's got a great look and some nicely implemented shortcuts, GCN DKM really embraces more of a Donkey Kong Country look (looks like a level straight out of the newer games made into a track), and 3DS Rainbow Road similarly has a great look and some nice additional details like the floating audience ships throughout the track. Also gotta give a shoutout to seeing Wii U Big Blue re-created in Wii, that's awesome.
Banshee Boardwalk and SNES Mario Circuit 2 look so perfect and honestly fit right in with the base game MK8 style (Mario Circuit fitting MK8's base game style way better than Mario Circuit 3 does). If you didn't tell me those were custom tracks I would believe that they were real dev made ones
I'm really liking ur creations Mario power!! Absolutely fantastic!! Really really fantastic!! I liked SNES Rainbow Road best it gave Christmas vibes 😂 Happy Christmas Power 🙂
@@MarioPower55 I've been able to do it. I'm curtain that you have to pull back once you start gliding from the canon and/or ride the anti-gravity before the canon.
Best Tracks: -DX Kingdom Way -N64 Banshee Boardwalk -DS Desert Hills -SNES Mario Circuit 2 -Wii Bowser Castle And honorable mention to -SNES Rainbow Road(Wii)
Thanks for featuring Walrus Cove. However, I think you may have had conflicting mods somehow as the skybox is wrong and the lighting on the water looks quite different too.
Random thought: I wonder what a fully custom track based on the MK8 background of GCN Baby Park would look like? Kinda looks similar to Water Park but different.
After all 6 Waves of the Booster Course Pass release, what if Nintendo releases a course maker in the game so you can build your own courses... Highly unlikely but would be cool
There’s a lot that goes into them actually. A lot of cutting out and pasting! My brother is my graphic artist, and he makes all the thumbnails. It’s a fun process. I also use a free-camera feature on dolphin emulator that allows me to fly around each track to get some good shots.
I prefered when you showed the custom track creators in the description, now if I didn't noticed wich creator it was in the video, I need to go to the ct in the timestamps and skip like 10 seconds.
