@@mayajsalazar that’s how I was at first, I’d start crying cause I didn’t know what the dentist may do or whatever cause I hadn’t ever been to the dentist and now I have no problem
Had my tonsils out 20 years ago and it was literally the best thing that ever happened to me. Haven't an ear infection, tonsillitis or strep throat since. I was a sickly child.
@cherry Considering that I'm almost in my 40's and I've never had anything worse than a common cold or the flu since having them out, I'm good. The benefits have greatly outweighed the risks. As a child, I was always sick. My tonsils were so big they blocked my airway when they were inflamed. It's definitely not recommended for everyone. However, if you suffer from chronic illness that stems from abnormal tonsils, it just might be the right choice to remove them.
I get strep a few times a year, i'm worried one day the antibiotics won't cure it because i've been on antibiotics about 8 times in the last 4 years for strep. My tonsils are permanently enlarged and inflamed and i have trouble breathing when i'm laying down, and I get constant tonsil stones that itch the back of my throat and the tonsils themselves have made my gag reflex so bad brushing my teeth is a challenge. And even with all of this documented on my charts, plus my dentist and 5 urgent care doctors writing recommendations for me to have a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy because the tonsils are posing a really danger to my health, especially with the breathing problems, and lowering my quality of life, my primary care doctor is still saying "we don't do tonsillectomies anymore because the tonsils have been proven to be part of the immune system"- but at this point, the tonsils are actually MAKING me sick and are causing WAY more problems than they're helping- what do I do? The last time I had strep I ended up being admitted and had to be on IV antibiotics because the strep caused Scarlet Fever, I had a rash all over and a fever so high I hallucinated, but still I can't get the tonsils out
There is really worse things in life.. i have them since my childhood recurring every year up to six times. I am so used to it it doesnt even bother me anymore unless i have fever. 😅 hopefully soon i am gonna get them removed.. antibiotics are ruining your body
I still have my tonsils and I get tonsilitis once or twice a year, I'd have them removed if there was a doctor in my city that does that... but sadly there isn't one here. I just avoid chocolates like toblerone or cadburry because that seems to trigger mine. Just one piece of those chocolate they swell up like baloons.
I don’t have tonsils. Haven’t had them since third grade. The doctor said they didn’t need to jump on the band wagon to take them out just yet, but then I got strep throat really really bad, and my teacher refused to let me go to the nurse. Ended up having my music teacher threaten to call the principal about it if I didn’t get send down because I never complained and I was visibly sick. Had a fever of over 100 and had to have surgery 2 weeks later🤷🏼♀️
Medicine ain’t the worst, I had tonsillitis but it was severe since we didn’t notice it for a long time, eventually I had my tonsils removed. It’s the worst sore throat you can imagine for 2 WEEKS STRAIGHT
I remember when I removed my tonsils You are right it is the worst sore throat you can imagine for two weeks. And since I was 10, I cried in my mamas lap for hours cause it hurt. I probably would at this age too lol
Had it years ago. When you eat it feels like you are swallowing glass. Percocets were the only thing that slightly helped. My mom gave me some that my dad hadn’t finished from a surgery. Thank GOD because I wanted to kms. And lord knows no doctor would ever have given 16 year old narcotics
Tonsil stones suck, I get them every now and them. They always make me feel gross, lol. Same with tonsillitis- I don’t get it as frequently as I did in the past, and the worst I had it was in 2008. I thought I had strep throat (for a second time.) Lasted for WEEKS on end and my doc didn’t (or couldn’t?) do much for me at the time. I just had to tough it out til it cleared up on its own. But the one time I had strep throat… I cannot believe how painful that was!!! 😱 I hope I never get it again!
The moment you think” I feel like I have a bad throat coming soon” immediately gargle salt water I would say over 50 percent of the time I feel like I might have a sore throat coming I do that and it makes a massive difference.could be the difference between tonsillitis or not.
Shoot I dab my tonsils with hydrogen peroxide, gargle warm salt water then I take a hot shot of tumeric and jack Daniels, then nothing but dandelion tea w/honey and lemon. Seriously makes difference.
@@al307antony2 shit man. I cut those bitches out. Harvest stem cells from them. Send those off to a lab to make me new ones. Then immediately dissolve them in concentrated hydroflouric acid. 3 days later I show up to the lab and they hook me up with my new tonsils
I had tonsillitis every 4 months for about 3 years straight before I finally got my tonsils removed about 5 years ago. It caused my already big tonsils to swell to the point where my college roommate said that I would stop breathing at points in the night. They always caused me issues all my life but the last 3 years with them were the worst. PLEASE GET YOUR TONSILS CHECKED
I had tonsillitis once, but my doctor didnt even do much! He was saying: "its probably just her teeth" to my parents?! Luckily, i switched doctors. I had yellow spots, which made my tonsillitis VERY visible. Responsibility is NOT directed to my teeth. Im talking about u, Mr Lineu.
I kept tonsillitis my whole life!! It's very painful! Got them removed about 5 yrs ago. It was a very slow and painful recovery 😩. I haven't had a sore throat since😁
I've had tonsillitis multiple times and have never been gave medication oof. Like i ate lots of toast because my parents said it would help but it ended up scraping it into my stomach and i could barley walk cri i could barley walk to the hospital and back and i was literally shaking because i used all my strength to take my shoes off- but good think is they got me lots of ice cream because it was soft and it would help :> My brother ate most off the ice cream :)
I was lookin for someone who has had this too it hurts bad😂😭 I wasn’t able too eat hard foods and had hard time swallowing foods or drinks cause it hurt so bad in my throat I had it for about two weeks, when I went too they just gave me suddenly types of pains pills cause there really wasn’t much they could do
I mean he’s spot on, if you have tonsil stones that don’t come out or you can scrape the white part off..... go to a provider to figure out if it’s viral or bacterial ...... either way, untreated, the swelling can impede on your airway if left untreated & ur body is unable to overcome it on its own
yea i had this problem where my tonsils swelled up until i almost couldn't breathe, many doctors suggested I got them removed but my mom didn't want to because insurance didn't cover most of this. So we went to another doctor and she suggested I drink lots amlunt of water, stay away from chips, and take her medication. Although my tonsils still have size they decreased the swelling pretty much and I can live normally now lol
I got my tonsils removed when I was like 7, and after that I barely got sick, but before, I had strep throat several times, and the reason I got them removed was because they were growing so big that they were starting to block my trachea.
I have a confession... one time in elementary, I believe a tooth fell out or something. The nurse gave me a cup of salt water and told me to swish it around. I didn't like the taste, so I dumped it down the sink and said I swished it. This has been weighing on my conscience for so long, I feel so bad for not being man enough to just swish it 😭
@@toukofukawa1166 They are for the protection against unwanted liquids that may contain bacteria, this helps immunity. Getting them removed might weaken our defence, which leads to other health problems. Most people get them removed because it bothers them or they have tonsillitis - really bad
@@anmaralshorji541 mine got removed at 18 after I kept getting tonsillitis multiple times a year after getting it annually all of my childhood, when I was around 14 my throat decided to get strep twice in the same year, my throat was literally bleeding from the damage it caused. Though they are primarily for immune protection, I do get other illnesses more often now. A few months after getting them out I moved 12,000km away and my body was not used to the different viruses there, I got sick so much including pneumonia and earlier that year I had gotten sick before going to a job interview and passed out on the bus ride, a stranger offered me water which I gladly accepted and ran off the bus before someone could call an ambulance which I could not afford at all!
@@anmaralshorji541 i was too young to understand why it was removed but my doctor said it's better to remove them because they themselves became a problem.
I had tonsillitis the same time I had strep about 2 months ago. It was torture.. luckily it went away without any meds from a doctor just ibuprofen.. it went away after about 2 weeks. All better now.
Imma just say from experience THIS HUTS LIKE HECK!!!!!!!! I literally was out of school for two whole weeks and my tonsils looked like they went through a MEAT GRINDER!!!!!!!
So so glad I had my tonsils out as a kid. Not everyone needs theirs out, but I was constantly sick and my life has improved vastly since they were removed. If you keep getting tonsil infections, maybe ask your doctor if you can have them out. 10/10
I kept getting tonsil stones then tonsillitis about every month when allergy season came around. My left tonsil swelled up to the size of a golfball and I could barely swallow due to the pain. Thankfully a hydrogen peroxide and salt water gargle eventually made the pain go away. I'm having a tonsillectomy tomorrow so wish my luck y'all
Tonsillitis wasn’t that bad tbf, I used to have it quite a bit, and it’s literally just like having a bit more of a sore throat, nothing excruciatingly painful
My tonsils were so bad that they fell apart when my surgeon removed them. Despite good oral hygiene, I had chronic bad breath and was teased by other kids about it. I was 12 when mine were removed.
I just had really bad tonsillitis, feeling better today finally. Went to the doctor and it wasn’t strep or mono, just a viral thing, but it sucked because that meant there was nothing I could do about it. I gargled salt water, took ibuprofen to help the pain, it didn’t always help. I also had really swollen lymph nodes and it hurt like hell to swallow so my diet consisted of mostly soft bread and chocolate pudding because it was the easiest things to get down without it hurting too much💀
I got tonsilitis on Tuesday woke up throat was unbelievably sore. When I checked my throat yesterday my gosh was I scared but luckily I had ibuprofen to help with inflammation and pain but salt water does the trick. I Hope to feel better soon.
Semi-unrelated, but I have dimple piercings, and I was told to do sea salt soaks and swishes. It DID NOT work. They said mouthwash would be too harsh, and would prevent cells from healing or whatever. Wrong. I no longer smoke, but I did smoke cigarettes as a kid when I got them done. They got irritated repeatedly, and even infected, TERRIBLY, once. My cheek swelled up to the size of a softball, and I went to the doctor, who didn't know what to do besides offer surgery and prescribe antibiotics. Luckily, a kind local piercer came into the shop on his day off to fish out my embedded jewelry from the inside of my swollen cheek. 😢 He was so nice, and he was horrified that the studio I went to did not provide me with longer bars for the swelling, and better care advice. This sea salt bs will never work to prevent mouth bacteria as well as keeping your teeth brushed, using mouthwash after drinking anything that isn't water (or smoking). In my opinion, of course. If you have a mouth piercing, brush your teeth in the morning, before bed, and preferably after a meal. Use mouthwash as I just said, and try to quit the ciggies! Those were the absolute WORST thing for it! Fun fact, if I smoked a normal American spirit, my piercings would sometimes get irritated, BUT if I turned that tobacco into a spliff, poured the tobaccy into a paper, and sprinkled a little weed on top, it WOULDN'T irritate it! Isn't that wild? That's why I believe weed really has healing properties, wish I liked it more, but I dont😢 Too anxious for that shit. Good thing I quit smoking! Anyway, I realize this has nothing to do with tonsillitis, but it made me think of the bad advice I got regarding mouth bacteria and sea salt soaks. OH, also, if you fiddle with your piercings, SANITIZE them ASAP! If you so much as twirl it around, or touch it with your hands, go put some peroxide on a tissue or cotton swab. Make sure they're as clean as can be. Drinking lots of water is good too. Your mouth gets far more nasty if it's dry, that's why morning breath is so gnarly. Stay hydrated! 😜
I want to be a singer but I keep losing my voice for 5 months due to recurrent throat and ear infection, I thought of doing tonsillectomy but I’m scared of throwing up as a side effect, and losing my voice after surgery
God i remember when i had tonsillitis. It was hell, maybe because i was 4 but- I literally threw up and it went on for like 3 weeks? Then went away. Yes, it was tonsillitis, i went to the doctor and they checked my tonsils and said “yeah, you have tonsillitis”
Ever since I got my thyroid removed I get tonsil stones.. Only 1 or 2 but it get swollen and hurts... I never in my life had it before but ever since October I gotten 2 flare ups.. It sux
I have strep throat, and man, when I saw tonsils like these in my mouth, I nearly jumped. Reason is, is because I had strep throat when I was a kid, but not like this. Thankfully the nurses have prescribed me with penicillin. Gonna get it tomorrow.
every time I get tonsillitis they tell me they will take them out, they wait till the swelling goes down then they say, "well thswellings down so we're just going to send you home". I've had it almost at least once a year and they still won't take them out.
i’ve had strep throat more then i can remember but i never got rid of my tonsils and my tonsils are always huge but pretty sure i’ve had tonsillitis more then three times i’ve never gone to the doctor for it i just gargle warm salt water like 3-5 times a day and it clears up in about 3-7 days
I fortunately never got to experience tonsilitis. Had my tonsils removed when I was too little to remember, apparently they swelled up so bad I couldn't breathe.
I’m glad I don’t have tonsils anymore got mine took it out when I was a little best thing to happen to me cause I’m glad I don’t have to deal with those things in the back of my throat😭
I hate getting tonsillitis It would always be after the doctors shut, my throat hurt so badly and i would get to 40°C+ I cant eat without pain with it. I havent had it for ages so i hope it stays like that
