DeMar DeRozan's longevity is underrated. Entering year 15 and still a 20+ point scorer. I didn't expect this when the Raptors drafted him in 09 as a raw athlete and the fact that he's been realitively healthy his whole career while putting up his productivity is fantastic.
The longevity of this generation has been overshadowed by the poster boy of longevity. It’s actually crazy how many “current” stars have surpassed the longevity of a lot of legends
People gotta remember that adding muscle mass is a genetic thing on top of training. Some people can lift 5 times a week and not gain too much while some people can lift 1 time a week and gain more muscle
"Curry aint a traditional point guard" Magic is a point forward not a traditional pg. No traditional pg was scoring in the paint with sky hooks and playing center in the finals 😂😂 Also people never watch stephs full games bc if they did, theyd see that hes an elite playmaker. He runs a lot of the offense for golden state whether on ball or offball. Hes also a great passer
The hooper being someone that "can dominate in any team anywhere in the world" is so stupid because Giannis and Steph are probably THE 2 players literally every single team would gut their own depth just to have them because no matter what they would be a definite improvement.
Saying Steph isn't a better Point Guard all time than Magic isn't crazy but the fact that he said that Steph wasn't a point guard when his main position has been point guard cause of playstyle and saying he didn't revolutionize the game is insane.
Steph has been an offball SG his whole life. He isn't exactly a Pg. In the words of Paul Pierce "he's a wing guy" . Same as Allen Iverson except AI is an on ball juggernaut
@@debonairdemigod You mean since 2016 because he was "traditional" before that. Steph is a PG just how West was one and Oscar was one. To me Magic is a Point Forward he wasn't defending the opponent PG anyway that was Cooper and Scott who was doing that. And outside of Zeke who averaged a 26 ppg Finals when he won his FMVP and has the most point in a quarter in playoff history (not very "traditional" for a PG btw), TRADITIONAL PG don't win SHIT as the first option anyway they all are 3rd or 4th option when they win a ring (look at Cousy behind Russell and Heinsohn, Payton as a role player in Miami or Kidd behind Dirk, Jet/Marion )
@@paquinraino8180 Dear moron, it's not a PG's job to "win things"!! If your best player is your SMALLEST player, your team SUCKS!!!! Yall ignore the defence of Klay/Dray and act like STRENGTH IN NUMBERS wasn't a thing. So disrespectful.
I hate the steph ain't a true point guard argument. Just cause he doesn't drop 10+ assists he's still a darn good playmaker, but because he's a good shooter he's not a point guard.
it’s a lazy argument. basketball has evolved way past positions, why are we still holding players to the standards of those positions when we all wanna talk about positionless ball? being a traditional point guard does not matter.
@@deanoss777 BECAUSE you want it BOTH ways!! "Positionless" when you want YOUR fave to make the All Star/All NBA team. "Positions" when you want to talk all time.
Steph averaged 30 with 7 assist 2016 mvp season. I don’t understand the “true point guard” bs. You get called a true point guard because you lack half court scoring ability.😂
It will always be a stupid argument. Steph not being a true pg because he's not "traditional" is insane since Magic is anything but traditional as a PG. Dude was an anomaly in his era, most dude his size can't even dribble the ball without looking at it and he was doing tricks on it on both hands, pause.
Nothing abt Steph to the game today is just "enhanced" he literally made 3pt shooting the staple in basketball. Without him offense wouldn't be what it is today.
@@courtneyvaldez7903maybe for a few games. But are u more likely to go cold from 3 or go cold from 2? The 2018 rockets are a perfect example of why basketball isn’t math class. Too many variables to account for.
@@dazgordon-hill2660Well number one steph doesn’t just jack up threes. And two if “jacking up threes” means shooting closer to 43 percent on 10 attempts including off the dribble and off the catch then that is greatness.
Since 2008, the world is catching up. A team with the Gasol brothers, Rudy Fernández and a bunch of Euroleague stars ran the USA close in Beijing. Like tied with a few minutes left kind of close
@@dazgordon-hill2660 And you gatekeeping a position when we got forwards and centers passing ,shooting, defending on the perimeter, and playmaking. Game has evolved and he's a big reason for that grandpa. 🤡
Chet benefitting from a year with NBA trainers and getting used to the NBA lifestyle very well could be why Chet wins ROTY and looks like the better prospect in their rookie years.
Solz has fr went from lawful good into full on chaotic neutral/evil. I know that sounds nerdy but bruh… bsolz fr became the evil he wanted to banish a long time ago. EY maybe sage did corrupt him, maybe sage infected Solz with the trolling germs and Solz infected sage with the reasonable germs, cuz ngl he is turning into the voice of reason.
Please can we do old heads drinking game? The last one was sooooo good. Make solz take a drink every time Bobby goes behind the back, he’ll be done after the first game lol
The Canadian team argument is flawed. Shai (their best player) attending US schooling during highschool and college. The same goes for Brooks. These guys weren’t born and bred in Canada, they spent their childhoods there but spent their developmental years in the states.
Bro crazy thing is I've seen Jokic get the most love from my (subjective) hood. Yes it's anecdotal evidence but a big who can shoot and put it on the floor whilst dishing out a healthy amount of assists will always be welcomes by pure basketball enthusiasts.
The very first take…I disagree with the logic being used by bsolz to disagree. I’m not saying I agree with dude…bsolz just doesn’t attack the basis of the opinion
I agree but must say that I agree with the guy in the tiktok. It's plain to see what he's talking about. Magic had unconventional size for a PG, but his game was textbook point guard play. Meanwhile, Steph would legit be a 2 guard if he was any taller. He's only slotted in at the 1 bc of his size. That's not to say he hasn't or can't play point, but realistically, he's not a point guard given his MO of affecting the game.
@@T.H.E.O.R.Y.thats not how that works. Why does it matter if he’s not a “traditional point guard”? Just call him a non-traditional point guard and keep it pushing. You cant say “if he was any taller” cuz he’s just not.
Idk man. I think bro in the last video was kinda cooking about the Wemby media hype machine. The NBA was providing free access to his games in France for the entire season before he got drafted with their own English commentary and everything. Yes we're allowed to be excited but there is such a thing as too much. And as he rightfully said, I can already imagine the thinks Perk and Shaq and Steven A are going to say about him if he's anything less than the goat. So I think he was kinda right in some parts and not so right in others
he was, idk wth solz and sage were yappin about lmao, they are applying waaay too much hype and pressure onto victor, they need to be more realistic. Now i will say the european player comment the dude made was pointless
I get the "dont overhype players" argument, but the main problem was the dude in the video who knows nothing about wembanyamas skillset saying hes the same as bol bol, then using the fact he played in europe to discredit him
@@Khallos it’s not discrediting. Basketball isn’t the same in Europe as it is here. Hyping him up this crazy and if he doesn’t match expectations he will crumble😭 it’s not him hating him for being European it’s the fact that he isn’t even adjusted like other Europeans players were
Team plays non traditional basketball... but wants traditional praise? SOUNDS RETARDED!!! It's "position less" one minute then "position or GTFO" the next!!
Wemby and holmgreen will NEVER EVER have a giannis growth... giannis randomly grew 2 inches and put on 51lbs of MUSCLE not fat... his achilles is twice the length of other nba players
Holmgren won't because that's not how his body is built, he was rehabbing and working out all last year yet only gained 13 pounds, which is great but he's still smaller than most Sg's. Wemby casually put on 20 pounds of weight from the year before to his draft weight, he definitely is a lot more likely to have a giannis like transformation than chet especially if u have seen the workout pics recently u can tell he's put on muscle already
Steph averaged 30 with 7 assist 2016 mvp season. I don’t understand the “true point guard” bs. You get called a true point guard because you lack half court scoring ability.😂
11:20 - As an NBA fan who is kind of only aware of TV and online discourse...is this actually true? Do people really dislike Jokic that much IRL? And if so, why?
as a franchise player on a championship team, i'm likely to be offered more money by the organisation anyway in the future having brought them a ring.@@Micisme86
Jokic is hated out of ignorance imo. Like most of his haters dont actually watch him and adsume they dont like him and let that be the basis for the slander they put on his name. Its sad too bc Jokic has one of the most enjoyable games to watch of all time and people watch espn and let Sas and Perk (both of them bafoons) form their opinions for them. Too many basketball fans dont watch basketball and it shows
20:09 I think what melo is getting at is the “natural sense” of hoopin for the guys he mentioned, like watching them hoop n probably hoopin against them just seems jaw dropping compared to mind blowing like Giannis and lebron’s gameplay typically is 🤷🏽♂️
It does not have to be USA vs the world, US vs. Europe would match up very well. This would be close in size regarding population. Europe has enough talent to match the superstars of the US.
The fact that picture of team Canada with alot of nba players just mean those players took the places of what could have been American players. So yeah, the world is catching up.
7:20 idk if 60s even count as Oldhead Drinking Game cause in 2023, old heads have no clue how they played in the 60s. They think "Old School" is back to the basket, slowass post play - but 60s was straight cardio, crazy shots and turnovers
Chet or Vic puttin on 50 lbs isn't realistic. Look at a KG or KD, most lanky guys don't get that big. Even Jermaine O'Neal, Dirk, or AD didn't transform like that.
KD’s longevity is questionable because the man missed like damn near 2 full seasons worth of games. He missed the entire 2019 season, only played 27 games in 2014 and only played 30 games in 2020. The man barely plays half the season. It’s more like he’s in year 15.
I think the "pure hooper" convo is more of an art convo than a performance one. To take your example, there's no debate Lebron is better than JR Smith on any court in the world. But if I was going to my local playground and JR Smith was going 1v1 against a guy, and Lebron was 1v1 another guy, I would watch the JR Smith 1v1 for sure! That's how I view the "pure hooper" brand
@@dazgordon-hill2660 draymond is the 4, even sometimes the 5. And he’s not a perimeter player. The only “PG thing” he does is he passes the ball which i guess is enough
@@kidflashiv Yes - RUN THE OFFENCE and COACH THE TEAM!!!! STRENGTH IN NUMBERS!! NOT "Steph Curry or bust"!!!! Yall one minute scream "MODERN NBA IS POSITIONLESS".. then want to shoehorn these players into "greatest at THEIR position". It's stupid and disingenuous. John Stockton is a better PG than Steph Curry. All tile leading in assists AND steals. Steph is a great shooter lauded for shooting!!! And Draymond is a SF. All around great play. Just like LeBron isn't a PF. While Karl Malone is
@@dazgordon-hill2660 I’ve never said anything about positionless basketball. Positions still exist in today’s game. They’ve just evolved from previous eras. Steph is what you’d want in current star PG.
@@kidflashiv Yall isn't you. Yall is "widely recognised". BUT apparently nobody's ever said it... cos I get this response, as if I just made the phrase up!!! What next - I made up the term "load management"???
In aspect of the FIBA conversation... why does Canada count against the USA? That's four continents and countries bordering the US. It should be North America vs the World at least. I'm pretty sure Canada's bball community is heavily influenced by the US bball culture anyway.
Because snobs want to push the agenda that the NBA isn’t ‘real basketball’ and that the EuroLeague is the definitive way to play. They jerk off over low post play and “FuNdAmEnTaLs” and think all NBA games consist of iso plays.
