Lol, my first thought when I saw the thumbnail was “good luck playing Goldeneye with that” then the first second of the video “this is really natural!” To each their own, but here’s the hot tip for FPS on N64: hold the left and center handles of the original 3 handed controller to put the joystick (for look) under your right thumb. Works on almost all of them.

I bough the BSP D3 gamepad for my android smartphone from Aliexpress for 16 €/$ based on your review. It works great, even for fighting games, at least casual play. Also connects even to my (old)windows 7 laptop just fine. Great value cheapo bluetooth gamepad for casual gamers. Thanks man. 🙂

i got one too and its one of my favorite purchases. The app has a touchscreen mapper with presets for certain games. idk how to make new ones but the one for genshin impact makes it so much easier to play the game. It has completely replaced my razer kishy. I kind of want to mess with the D5

Love my Brawler64! My only complain is that they out a 360degree joystick in a octagon hole. I made the hole round with a cone adhesive bit, and now it worlks so much better when sneaking or aiming in games.

Does the battlerGC work with the GameCube controller adapter on the switch? Smash brother games with multiple people like using a variation of original GameCube controllers and maybe couple of these would be nice. Thanks

It probably does. But, since the Switch is supported directly by that controller, you may not need to use it with the GC controller adapter, other than if you need analog triggers I suppose.

I wonder if using the GC adapter with the controllers Bluetooth dongle would then allow the analogs to be seen on it. Otherwise directly though the USB port dongle, it would seem to suggest it's only Pro Controller seen (no analog)

Third party controllers need to support all the features of the console. Kinda sucks when a gimic comes up for the console and you can't do it, like gyro or something. My problem for the switch joycons are motion. HoTD was broken. It just drifts off center, gotta press the center button alot. I doubt it's my joycons, maybe it is. cool controller for n64 games on the switch. Those retro console games on switch is cool because you can play multiplayer online with freind codes. Hope for more gamecube games. I go for racing games for the switch. F zero, extream G ect. Mario collection has sunshin. Good game. Ill probably get the n64 one when i fill the gaming fund.

For anyone who notices input Last these might not be for you. I can’t speak for the N64 one but the BattleeGC has enough input lag to make games like Smash bros relatively terrible to play on. Way more lag than anticipated, even with 2.4ghz.

I have to disagree with you with if it needs analog triggers, this controller is mainly made for Switch and playing N64 games in mind. To me, analog triggers are more of a nuisance than digital due for being not clicky and doesn't make a difference no matter how much you press. In other words, get another controller if you want analog triggers.

Been using the new brawler 64 for a couple of months on pc only (haven't tried it on the switch yet) I really love the controller but I found mapping the buttons on retroarch a bit fiddly so if you fancy making a tutorial on that I wouldn't be complaining 😉 Works great on project 64 I mostly use it for wwf no mercy and some of the great mods for that game. Congrats on a milli subs ETA!

Yea took me some time to figure out in batocera. What I did was set c left and c down as l3 and r3 in batocera. Then just changed the core map in RetroArch

No, analog triggers wouldn't be good, just get another controller for that. The only other single analog stick system would be the Dreamcast, which has 4 diamond face buttons which all controllers today already have but for playing N64 games you really have to have that face button configuration and a digital Z button trigger.

The n64 controller could very well be used for Sega Saturn emulation. Ironically, the button layout on these controllers is perfect for this.

The RetoFighters Defender is also amazing controller from RetroFighters. its a 2.4ghz Playstation controller and comes also with 2 dongles one that plugs into the controller port on PS1 PS2 and a USB dongle PS3 and PC compatible. Once its paired with a PS3 it does allow for full use of the Home Button to work which is something that the majority of 3rd party controllers didn't fully support. It instantly became my go to controller for those systems.

What makes or breaks any modern N64 or Gamecube Controller are the sticks and the triggers. When it comes down to the sticks, both the N64 and the GC controller are very particular, they have a particular pattern with the octagonal gates as well as very specific ranges. So those are the first things that must be tested in any "modern" redesign, cause unless they nail this, what you are getting is a nice shell that doesn't behave as it should. And then in the case of the GC controller the triggers behaviour is also important cause the way the GC triggers work is pretty unique and so far I have not found a single controller that can mimic those well. They are fairly less critical than the sticks though. So a test about that would be really appreciated. Cause as I mentioned there is a solid chance that these controllers are nothing more than a good-looking shells.

I like my Brawler64 controller a lot, but you are correct about the analog stick, it does not replicate the N64 stick accurately. I noticed this a lot when trying to use precision aiming in Goldeneye. Its not easy to line up head shots like it was with a real N64 controller.

Hey prime. MLP did a follow-up review with the battle version of these controllers. Apparently, black and orange are having issues specifically using it with the GameCube. I have the purple and only tested using a switch with no issues. Need to test the wii shortly. Awesome review btw. 👏

In a world wherein the 8bitdo Uktimate or Gulikit Kingkong 2(Pro), this feels pretty optional since potentiometer analogs are going out of style if this doesn't use hall sensor analogs.

I actually have 3 of these controllers, one for my N64 and two for my switch. I love them. The stick is not quite perfect, and takes some getting used to, but overall it is really good.

The best test for D-PAD is usually to try a bunch of Wall jumps in Super Metroid, you have to make sure pressing Left or Right is not triggering Up or Down in this game ! A lot of D-PAD fail this test like the ones on 8bitDo SNES clones or Xbox360 original D-PAD which is clearly not build for that...

These look really good, might well pick one up for emulation. It would be perfect if they could squeeze in a second analog stick and analog triggers, then you could have a natural button layout in emulation for every mainstream console from NES to PS3.

@@Moe-uh6tq I'm wondering the same myself. After all, why would they need the dongle vs the 64 version. But, he mentions in the video he put it as pro controller over USB, which probably means it's just seen as a pro controller, so the analog function is wasted. Wish @ETAPrime made the clearer

@Moe Since it's not clear at all from the video and I just received mine here are the answers to my previous questions: no analog trigger when connected to usb but only works with the gamcube controller port dongle connected to the gamecube controller adapter (so no software magic here). In both cases they show up in the switch menu as "usb controller" (just like a real gamecube controller would) but the usb dongle requires enabling "wired pro controller" in the switch settings while the GameCube dongle doesn't need that. Other than that, compared to a genuine Gamebube controller the rumble feels a bit weaker and different, so does pressing the analog trigger (will require some getting used to) but other than that it's fairly pleasing to use and works well!

It's too bad the RF BT Brawler64 doesn't have a 6-button Genesis mode. If NSO N64 controllers won't work with the Sega Genesis NSO app, then you can't use all 6 face buttons for your fighting games and Genesis games. Also, does SF 30th Anniversary Collection support left stick click and right stick click inputs for remapping the attack buttons? If not, then you have to rely on R and ZR for the heavy attack inputs.

When the Brawler 64 is in NSO mode, is it possible to swap or re-map LZ and RZ buttons by chance? I am curious since I think I would prefer to use the RZ as the "Z" button when playing N64 games through NSO. Great video as always!

I actually already have seen the N64 controller on Amazon, but on other brand and wired, this wireless one looks better. Also, the GameCube controller looks great, I have a Hori GC style controller but it's wired and I want to get wireless controllers now, I don't play competitively anyway, so a few milliseconds lag is fine.

These work so great on the Nvidia Shield. No point in ever using my original N64 again. The directions that come with the controller don't show how to pair to a device like shield, pi, etc. I wrote customer service and they responded within a day with instructions how to set it up.

That's a completely different controller by retro fighters called the blade gc I believe not sure why it's in the thumbnail because he didn't cover that but maybe he was going to originally. Madlittlepixel just done a video on them and 2 out of 3 of the controllers he was sent had problems with the sticks so probably best to stich to the battler until the problem is resolved.
