Well I know what motor I never want now 😂 my E39 likes to slam into overdrive if I drive it to easily, so I’m always giving it more beans, I really love these cars though nothing like em

The N52 is BMWs most reliable engine. If you check these things and perform regular maintenance these engines will last for years. Not to mention how easy these engines are to work on compare to other BMWs.

You can actually get a code out for DISA. 2AA9 DME: Variable intake system, servomotor 2: activation. Also, I had 2A87 DME: Exhaust Vanos, mechanism and I thought I had to change the actuator, however after I realized my flap was gone and almost into #3 cylinder, I got a new DISA and it solved both 2AA9 and 2A87.

Had that pin go into cylinder 5, but thankfully it was caught between the valve and the head and the cylinder and piston look fine

This is a great video! I'm gonna repair or check everything you mentioned. I have the oil filter housing leak and was told to buy housing, radiator, hoses pipes etc. BMW said just the housing gasket. I have not driven the car except when it happened. Leaked into the coolant. What's the best way to flush the out of the coolant? Please clear my mind...

Hello doc I have engine oil leak and oil consumption issue I think leaks from the intake manifold from the first two pipes leaking, on my BMW 530 ix n52 engine, I already have changed walve cover gasket , engine oil pan gasket, oil cooler both gaskets, and I still have leaking, and oil consumption can you please help me out, what is the next place I should check where there is a possibility the problem can be? Is there a recommended interval to replace the DISA valves? I'm at 115k and the DISA valves are the only parts left that I haven't replaced.

Why don't you leave your engine cover off so that you can keep an eye on your oil leaks?

Because I know my car is perfect with no leaks that’s why I overhauled this whole engine and gaskets 20k ago and I hardly Drive this car so no chance for leaks I also use genuine bmw parts so I know my car is solid and I don’t have to worry about something failing all the time

Great channel, have a questions about the DISA Valve on the N52N engines. Which DISA Valve is more prone to failure, really only see video and post for the outer DISA never the inner and is the DISA valve as big concern on the N52n engines? I have a 2007 X5 3.0si that I am having random rough idle when cold and then a stumble if you tap the pedal to rev. Also from a dead stop around 2l-3k there is a hesitation. Then will hear a rattle from the engine compartment after it picks back up and continues to accelerate....any thoughts?

Hi, been watching you on RU-vid wondered if I can pick your brain for a little advice, I have a 05 e90 having problems with the key, fob will lock the car every time but won’t unlock, need to use the key blade, boot unlocks with fob also, I’ve checked all the fuses, no faults shown in the CAS, I’m thinking the fobs knackered? Just looking to see if you have any advice, cheers

Hey Dean took your advice and took off the disa the bigger one, and the flap is loose, leaded me to take the whole intake manifold off to check the smaller one and the gaskets seems fine but its stuck open, the intake manifold has a coat of oil in it as well, how should I approach this, other than the obvious repalcement of the disa valves

Hey Dean! Excellent video and information as always :) My N52 325i seems sluggish and I took out the VANOS to change the o-Ring Gaskets. I noticed one of the Vanos solenoid body had a lot of abrasive scratches on it..any idea what it could be ?

Hey doc. My dad has a 2006 525i with the N52 engine and am quite worried about it. At wide open throttle higher up in the rev-range I can hear a noticeable high frequency knock/rattle coming from the front of the car. It used to have an issue with one of the Vanos solenoids throwing fault codes and was going to replace them but in the meantime oil flush and change seems to have solved it. Now about a year later the codes are still not coming back but i've got this weird sound. Am i likely to actually hear engine knock? (fuel detonating due to timing being off) or do you think it's more likely it's a rattle of some sort? (I'd say it sounds muffled and plasticky) Surely the engine would have gone bang long time ago. Sorry to bother and ask you to look into the crystal ball but I live thousands miles away from my dad and the car, so can't really offer any support and I am hoping it may be a common problem you will spot by the description. We've got the car in the family since almost new and it would be a massive shame if it was to really go wrong. Cheers!

My wifes 2009 X5 i30 just had the water pump fail at 135k and the over heating lights came on the X5, suv was pulled over very quickly and parked towed to shop, all new pump ,thermostat and many hoses replaced at a indy shop. Well have always did the oil and filter change myself on are cars. Just did the X5 and the oil filter had a lot of very tiny rubber specks on the filter material. What do you think this is from? Thanks for any help.

Hey Doc, need some advice. I have a 57 E60 530d not mapped got arounf 93k on the clock. Iam getting a weird duck sound seems tobe coming from the engine area, wether its sitting idle or 2k revs the around doesnt get louder. Any ideas?

Hey Doc i have a 2007 e90 328i N52 engine with the code CDBE - DME: Message(nominal torque request, BB) and my car is on limp mode. Some people had told me that it could be the throttle body itself, but i dont want to just replace parts without being sure, what do you recommend me?

I love you doctor.....how do i mhd flash a 2007 530xi ...its a unique engline a dme apparently...when i ush mhd n54 it saids wrong dme......is there a better program,....and where do i get inpa or impa and how do i use it mate...please help.

I have a bmw 2007 525i n52 based on the codes that I have 2a9a 2a9b Inpa error type code for both says “signal or value above threshold “ I have tested the camshaft sensors they have correct voltage I have tested/ cleaned the vanos they have the correct voltage I have cleaned the non return valve I have performed a compression test the results were ok I have performed a fuel test with a cheap O’Reilly fuel test rental and the results were accurate but after 10 minutes the pressure would drop 30 psi the adapter didn’t fit properly on the fuel injector valve so the test wasn’t %100 accurate I changed the battery I changed the oil the inpa engine speed rpm is 224.rpm . I need some assistance on where I should go from here any advice would help thanks

I get a rattle noise inside the car when it’s at redline. I can’t think of what it would be. I’ve replaced most of the parts in the video so I don’t think its a huge problem.

I have an 2011 BMW e88 n51 sulev is there a de tune on the car? Wanting to see if I can do anything without damaging the motor/trans/ having it not be reliable,.. I need more info on this thought I had an n52. Wanting to see if the n51 has any potential to be 260ish whp

it’s been 3 years but the N51 has a stage three manifold which with a 330i tune can give you 255 crank. Ur gonna need to do MILVS, headers, free flowing exhaust system and a better less restrictive intake system to even try to see the horsepower you want. all these mods add about 5-10hp a pop, so worth a try

HI I have a bmw 525 from 206 with N52 engine it has done 350 000 km and it still drive like a dream It does use use about 4 liter oil per month and i add the most cheap oil. i done this the past 4 years the engine lamp is allways on and i been told a reoair will cost about 3500 usd its in very good shape and last week i tried a brand new diesel bmw and my old bmw drives much better. the diesel engine has a awful sound like a tractor omg,,, my next choice will be the dodge challenger sxt brand new never diesel for me the more co2 the better it is for nature...another story

No, it is part of the fuel pump assembly so you it is not serviceable and last life of the vehicle.

left my 2009 e90 n51 idling for 15 minutes then a engine light came on. I immediately shut the car off and let it sit, started it up again and ran perfectly fine. no service lights on and spark plugs were serviced. i have 77,000 miles anyone have an idea what it could be. heat isn't working too well in the car.

No you cannot use our parts for USA market my friend as it’s completely different even engine is different you have N52K something that we don’t have here As we got rid of N52 after one year for N53 a engine you guys never got the top 10 electrical items is the one you can follow for ALL E60s regardless of engine But if it’s 535I that will be N54 engine which you would need to purchase parts from the USA mate but be warned I have done a video on this Many many parts you buy are Chinese parts manufacturer reject parts to keep you paying and keeping the shops making money that’s why you get different stuff to us as there is no quality control

DISA look it up. I believe this was only on the early N52 engines because my 09 doesnt have it.
